Restoring a Weber Q series is always satisfying. Its like restoring a 56' Chevy!

Spent a lot of time and hard work to bring this back to a useable condition. The crack in the lid is a shame, but it still has many years of use left in it. This is a better alternative than ditching it in a landfill and buying new. Most Weber Grills have replacement parts readily available if the parts are too far gone. My sister in-law gave her parents an old Q100 and it was basically in the same shape. I think I am going to use what I learned from this video to make it nice for them. These aren't cheap, I just cannot understand why someone would let them get so neglected over time. The newer model Q1000 is about $230. To spend under $100 to make it useable again just seems worth it to me, but not most. It's what happens when you have too much money and not as much common sense. Outstanding work. I'm sure this video will help those of us less fortunate to buy new get in on a great portable grill for next to nothing and have the satisfaction of knowing we did it ourselves or for someone that deserves it.

Thank you for your support. We agree on everything you said. I am glad Weber did not change this series much since 2003 hence all important parts such as regulator, grates, burner...etc are interchangeable with a bbq from 20 years ago. Ofcourse they did change some cosmetic stuff but overall, still same parts. This way, there are tones of after market and original parts in the market. Its a shame other Weber models and other brands are not designed the same way. I hope Weber doesn't change this about Weber Q as it's technically the only bbq that can be restored without breaking the wallet. We have more videos on our instagram page if you are interested. We usually post every single restoration we do on that. Here is the link instagram.com/bbq_girlz?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA==

Well done video, thank you. I think it’s important for people to be aware that if they chose to use a wire brush on their BBQ grate, they risk removing all the porcelain finish. This of course leave the grate much more susceptible to rusting.

To clarify, I am not talking about a typical hand held wire brush being used to scrape off old drippings etc., I am commenting specifically on the use of a ‘powered’ wire brush, perhaps installed on a cordless drill or other…. Thanks

Whoa. Love that colour .What kind of paint do you use on something like this? I have an old weber that needs a makeover. I assum you just need to sand it down and then spray a new coat of paint? Can you tell me the process on which paint to buy and do you have to spray a clear coat on top ?Thanks!

I meant to ask... What is the paint used on the grill cover? And what did you have to do for prep aside from cleaning?

Great work, shame about that crack in the lid, that’s not easy to fix.

Cast aluminum requires different tools and temp for welding. We don't have the tools and the knowledge for that yet, but one day:) ... this specific bbq of our client was inherited from a friend who passed away due to cancer. Restoring this little thing was more sentimental than anything else.

How can a person let a grill rot like that! You don't want to grill on it anymore, disgusting🤬
