    I owned this lens for Canon EF-S. Optically it was stunning, no complaints. Focus wise, well you know the sad game with Sigma lenses on Canon DSLRs. I adapted it to Canon EF-M and focus accuracy was great. I loved it.
    For the weight and volume, though, it's hard to justify over a FF 24-70mm f/2.8 zoom lens.

      I have had pretty good luck with the focusing on the Canon Mirrorless cameras. I would like to get a 24-70 f2.8 though for.my full-frame camera.

    I have to agree with you on this. I'm shooting on Nikon. Occasionally I shoot video and have been more than pleased with it's performance. I mostly shoot Product, Editorial and Portrait and the SIGMA almost never leaves my camera. The only time it does if I feel like shooting with my 50 or I'm shooting Drag Racing, in which case I grab my Sigma 150-600 Sport. The 18-35 though is one of the best purchases I've made for my rig. Great Review by the way.

    Glad to see it's still relevant after all this time. Thanks for the video.
    I've been contemplating getting this but not sure.
    I have a Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 on MFT with a 0.71 speedbooster which is lighter, has stabilisation, and is cheaper (if you have to buy it). I don't usually need a really shallow depth of field but I'm wanting to do more B Roll where that would be more useful.
    I know that the extra 1.33 stops of light would make the 15-35mm far better in low light and gives better background blur, and that, being an ART lens it has better optics and should be clearer/sharper - but what percentage of the time do you use it wide open and does the increase in sharpness stand out in videos?
    If you had the 17-50mm would you still consider getting the 18-35mm?

    • @ScooterMediaVideos
      @ScooterMediaVideos  10 місяців тому +3

      Hello, I actually use the 18-35 wide open at f1.8 probably 95% of the time. It is really sharp and it does stand out in videos. I would probably still look at the 18-35 even if I had the 17-50...I'd probably then only use the 17-50 if I need the reach from 35mm to 50mm.

    Amazing review! But I have a question, I bought this lens and Im using it for my m50 with viltrox speed booster and I have a very noticeable vignette from 18-25m. Do you have any solution to use this lens 18-35 without any vignette? Should I change my speed booster to the regular one EF-EOS M? Any advice?
    Thank you in advance!

    • @ScooterMediaVideos
      @ScooterMediaVideos  Рік тому +3

      Thank you! I believe the speed booster is to provide you with a more full-frame field of view and because the lens is not full-frame, you are getting the vignetting. I believe if you use the regular EF-EOS M adapter it should fix the problem.

      Hello, the lens is good for pictures as well, I just don't take alot of photos. If you already have the 16-35, you already have a 24mm f2.8 and a 35mm f2.8 so I would just get something like the 24-70mm f2.8. You've then got everything in the range from 16-70mm at an f2.8. If you need another longer lens you could get the 70-200 f2.8 and then you're covered from 16mm to 200mm. The Sigma 18-35 f1.8 is a great lens but if you already own the 16-35mm, I'm not sure it makes sense to spend money on the same focal range...but totally up to you.

      @@ScooterMediaVideos hey Scott I love your video and I have a few questions what you think about the 15-85 and 55-250 I'm trying to stay in my budget I'm not rich and I want the best but I'm not rich like that I do this as a hobby. my mother told me the 70-200 or the 55-250 is all I need and she have the 18-35 from sigma and the picture quality is amazing. I want the 24mm f2.8 pancake lens and I want the canon 35mm 1.4L mark2 I have the canon 90d so I need like a few lenses nothing major I'm not kicking that kind of money I need to stay in my league. I got my canon 90d with no lens so I need some lens that can cover what I need them for.

      @@crayshaunhenderson1265 if you can afford the Canon 24-70, I would get that or the Sigma. Same for the 70-200, I would go for the Canon if it's in your budget range.

    • @ScooterMediaVideos
      @ScooterMediaVideos  Рік тому +1

      @@chiefbubba2581 the one thing I will mention for someone starting out is that the lenses are more important then the camera. The lens is what gives you the better image quality over the camera. Obviously you can only get what's in your budget range, but I would look into something like the Canon 24-70 f2.8. You can probably find one used and it is an amazing lens with a good focal range. If you have access to the Sigma 18-35, and get the 24-70 you are covered from 18mm to 70mm, and then could save up for the 70-200mm. All of the lenses that you mentioned will get the job done, but the 15-85, 55-250 and 24mm pancake are kind of budget lenses and the 35mm f1.4 is extremely expensive. I would just say get whatever you can afford to start creating! I started out with budget lenses and have slowly upgraded my collection.

      You can use it with the M50 Mark II with an EF-m adapter. You can then use any EF lenses with the M50 as well. As far as lenses for event photography, I would look at lenses with an aperture of f2.8 or less.

      @ScooterMediaVideos  10 місяців тому +1

      @@nayemMmm the Sigma 18-35 is a beast of a lens, it's long and it's heavy and when you add the adapter it is even longer, and with with the M50 is going to be extremely front heavy. The Sigma 30mm is much more compact and doesn't require the adapter so it will feel better with the small body of the M50 and will provide nice photographs as well, and is alot cheaper...I would probably go with the 30mm.

    Granted its excellent image quality and constant f1.8 aperture, it's still a fair amount of money for a lens with no image stabilization (the Tamron 35mm f1.8 has it), no weather sealing, and dubious autofocus performance for still photography. I'd love to be able to buy this lens for my Canon 90D: as you say, it's three important focal lengths (18, 24, and 35mm) at f1.8 in the one lens, but its poor autofocus reputation disuades me from buying it.

      @ScooterMediaVideos  Рік тому +5

      I hear you, it is a fair bit of money with no image stabilization. I am not someone who uses image stabilization that much and I don't really do photography a whole lot, but the autofocus for video has been great.

      @@ScooterMediaVideos Totally agree. I'm mainly a stills photographer, who is slowly getting into video. The lack of image stabilization would be the least of my worries at its focal length, but they could have thrown in some form of weather sealing. Plus the apparent autofocus issues, which are a dealbreaker for me. Maybe I'm being too demanding though.
