Hi Daniel! Really cool you want to get into photography :) I would suggest if this is your first camera maybe trying the 80D or Canon M50! The 90D is probably middle ground for intermediate level :)
do you think in 2021 it's better to invest in this lense for an existing 80d or upgrade to full frame and go with whatever kit lense that comes with a FF? I just worry about buying lenses that are not upgradeable to full frame as im not sure how long ASP-C is going to last. Also keen to hear about focusing issues.
Hey, Tom just so you know, this lens is an APS-C lens, not full frame, I was confused at first, but Matti Happojia said that this was his favourite lens to use but it was for APS-C, not full frame so there is no crop factor...By the way, excellent video capturing with the 90D, I want it to be my next camera!

No adapter :)
Was any calibration required in the Sigma tool, which settings apply for 90D?
Nope none for mine!
How does this work on a crop sensor camera then? Am I really shooting at 35mm or more like 56mm? Awesome video!
No matter I watched on and it made sense
Yes it does crop :)
Can you walk me through the camera settings you use for video?
I bought the Sigma 18-35 for 375$ ejje I found a crazy deal on Amazon. Regular price 700$. Thanks for the video bro.
Dude you lucked out, i paid around $550 for mine, but i bought mine from Japan and that was the cheapest i could get it
That’s definitely more in line with worldwide pricing! Richard got super lucky 😁
I use the same combo! sigma 18-35 with the 90D. But, I'm having some serious autofocus problems... any suggestions?
Really? What type of problem man? No I’ve not really had any
@@ItsTomRich I have it set on face tracking and AF mode on the lens but sometimes it just wnt focus. It will just sit there untill I mess with it
I’ve experienced this a little with one of my other lenses, when you change AF modes to zone or other focuses. But never too badly and when i switch to face tracking it’s perfect
Any focus breathing issues? Mostly people do talk about it as if it really makes a difference.
I actually had to look to focus breathing! None that I’m aware of, but like I said I’ve not ever really been looking out for it - sorry I can’t help more!
I’ve just loved your content!
Do you recommend this Lens for interior/sport content? Or which one do you think it’d work better?
Thanks again for sharing!
Cristina Gole Lego Hi there! For interiors this is a good choice, definitely not for sport though. You want something longer like a 70-200mm :)
Tom Rich thanks so much for your prompt respond! I think I didn’t explain myself properly, I would like to use it more for fitness content (websites, blogs... etc) sorry for the misunderstanding...
No problem! Yes this would be a great lens for that :)
Hello Tom how would you compare the 90D with Sony A6400, a6500, a6600 and 5d mark iii what would u advise I want to start a UA-cam channel still figuring out what camera is best I want to have a crisp quality image thanks will truly appreciated your feedback
If you’re just getting started can’t go wrong with the A6500 man! Then upgrade down the line :)
Hi, I'm a beginner and I want to start photography and filming and I don't know what camera to take, I'm between the EOS 80D and this 90D that I really like. What do you think about filming and shoting at night with this 90D? And can you recomand 3 lens that combine all that you need for 90D? Nice video, keep it up.
Hi Daniel! Really cool you want to get into photography :) I would suggest if this is your first camera maybe trying the 80D or Canon M50! The 90D is probably middle ground for intermediate level :)
@@ItsTomRich Ok thank you very much 😁
do you think in 2021 it's better to invest in this lense for an existing 80d or upgrade to full frame and go with whatever kit lense that comes with a FF? I am eyeing up the sony a7iii but with lenses its like $3k to start, while if i got this bad boy, its $1k. I just worry about buying lenses that are not upgradeable to full frame as im not sure how long ASP-C is going to last. Also keen to hear about focusing issues.
Maybe look at the Canon EOS RP and then you wouldn’t need to upgrade all your lenses?
what is the crop factor if using speed booster?..
The lens doesnt create the crop factor the sensor on the camera does. So as an aps-c camera from canon the crop factor is 1.6x
Love your videos 🤟🏻🤟🏻
Thank you!! Loads more on the way 🤙🏻🤙🏻
@@ItsTomRich can’t wait to see! I just ordered the 90D. I didn’t get the lens though yet
Love the Review Bro..!! 👍
A quick question though.. does the lens have Image Stabilisation ?
No the lens isn’t stabilised - but it is pretty heavy so that helps eliminate some shake!
I guess the canon 90D have stabilizer, right???
Digital stabilisation which I never use because it sucks haha
Question for you, do you still have the 90D, and if so do you own a field monitor, I really want to find out something, plz let me know if you do, thanks
Hey man I shoot on a 90d with Sigma 18-35 1.8 and I am running on a budget so I went with a FeelWorld monitor from Amazon... and it’s really decent for the price but if you got more money might wanna look into smallhd monitor that has little bit more professional features... hope this helped
Fantastic!! Hi I just bought the sigma 18-35mm f 1.8 and it did not fit to my Canon 90D , so I bought an adapater Viltrox Mount adapter EF M2II and still it did not connect, What specifically adapter you used to connect to canon 90d Thank you so much
The 90D should connect perfectly with the Sigma 18-35... are you sure you bought the EF (canon) version of the lens?
@@ItsTomRich label on sigma lens is 18-35mm 1:1.8 DC o72
Oh my!! I maybe bought the wrong one
@@lemon3.6 The 72 is the thread mount. You need to find out what lens Mount it it
@@ItsTomRich Thank you so much Tom, thank you for the rescue. take care
Would this lens be good for astrophotography ? TIA
i have the canon 80d and i want a good lense to pair up with that camera and i still want the 90d as well but i want to buy me a full frame camera as well but i wwill see what happens but where can i buy this camera lens from and help me out
Hi I bought the 18-135mm canon usm lens with the 90d in a kit. How would this lens compare to that...I want to make UA-cam videos with a blurry background as well as mainly portrait photography but also just an all rounder lens. Most people are recommending this lens or a sigma 16mm f1.4 or sigma 30mm f1.4 . Which would be best in your opinion out of all these ? I also bought a canon 50mm f1.8 stm but I think it wouldnt be wide enough for youtube .
zuna861 the 30mm F1.4 is a great lens! I have a comparison a few videos back of the 16mm vs the 30mm - it was for Sony but the same applies for canon!
Superb review.....I recently bought canon 77d(apsc).. Im a hobbyist...Which is better sigma 18-35, sigma 17-50 or canon 17-55 or any other ..my purpose is events and weddings(mostly indoor), travel, and portraits. Image quality is key.....
18-35 for sure. It's an incredible lens
@@ItsTomRich Thanks for ur response...
great video! I want to buy this lens but I want to make sure my 90d actually goes to F1.8 with the lens, it does right?
Well, it does go to F1.8 but there is a crop sensor depth of field equivalent. But it’s a crop sensor lens so nobody else gets full frame F1.8 haha
Tom Rich haha I see thank you so much!!
If i’m only getting 1 lens for my 90d, do you recommend to get this lense?
Yes absolutely.
Hi just have issue auto focus with my 90d and sigma 18-35. Did you do calibration before used ? Thanks
Does image stabilization in the camera work with the 135mm? Specially photography.
There’s no image stabilisation with this lens
Great video ! I actually own the sigma 17-50 2.8 with the 90D . I don't know if it's worth getting this 18-35 especially for sharpness ? I'm on the fence Anyone ?
Jess Breheret The sigma 18-35 is in a bit of a league of its own, especially at F1.8
What do you think about 90D onCanon - EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro?
Great info homie 👌
Thanks!!
Great video! Love the music
Thanks for watching!
Got an 80d with the sigma 18-35 and thinking of upgrading to the 90d for that electronic image stabilization. How good is the EIS with this lens? :O is it usable handheld?
I have to admit I really hate EIS. Feel like it always ruins your footage! Definitely go either for something with IBIS or better yet create a heavy rig setup or use a stabiliser :)
@@ItsTomRich thank you for taking the time to respond! :)
Gotcha. Yeah- this is what I've heard for this EIS. So jerky. I think I'll try a rig setup for the time being ^^
@@ItsTomRich Oh, and have you ever tried a g9/gh5 with speedbooster with this lens? i've heard it's incredibly stable handheld.
muenae No I haven’t unfortunately! But the GH5 stabilisation is supposed to be super good yeah.
muenae And no worries 😁 I actually have a rig video on the 90D
Funny, I have the Sigma and I'm considering whether to upgrade from my ancient 30D to the 90D. This video popped up in my recommendations. It must be a sign, haha.
Love that! Well it’s a great lens :) I have some other videos on the 90D you might find interesting!
@@ItsTomRich Good lord, dont tempt me lol
just bought this one with the Canon 90D and what shall i say? i felt in love with it !
Yay! That’s great to here :) glad you’re creating. Cool stuff with it 🙌🏻
Did you have to calibrate the lens with the sigma dock for the focus points?
@@roccoroselli3957 no me not, i heard about it
Can you tell me the sweet spot of this lens for video?
The only thing missing to this lens is the Image Stabilization, I mostly shoot video, so that's a deal breaker for me.
Yeah I do wish it would have had it too, but I have plenty of experience cutting out shake from my footage so it just takes some practice it’s still more than usable.
Can i use this lens on canon 77D
Yes you can!
I have the 90D and recently purchased this lens. I didnt realise the Auto focus would be so noisey.. real shame. Did you find the same?
Ah no! I’m sorry, yeah the AF is renowned for being a bit noisy on this one - I’ve never had an issue with it though because I hardly ever use on camera microphones
@@ItsTomRich Yeh sure. I just wanted to keep this on for when I'm away with the band and not really vlog face to camera but vlog most things and it's kinda not going to work with that. I'm also just down the road in Lancing mate :)
JMD Creative Ah understood! Oh nice!! That’s wicked always like to hear about people local haha
Awesome video! I've been looking to get this one second hand, but I have come across complaints that its got a poor AF performance (front focusing).
My question is, when you mounted it on the 90D was it focusing well straight out of the box, or did you have to do some calibration first? Cheers.
Hey Jan. No calibration required for me luckily!
