  • I have received so many more questions, I had to address them in another video. If you are already familiar with making my wine, this video may not be for you. However, this may be the one wine video that makes you laugh out loud at some of the questions I have to answer.

    Paw Paw, I bake quite a bit of bread, I buy the jars and store them in the freezer and they last for literally ever. Nothing more frustrating than getting all my ingredients together and I forgot to buy the little packets...works for me, and I love your channel so please don't take this as any kind of snotty comment...Love you Big, Oklahoma Grandma

      I am not insulted at all.......you USE your yeast. For me, it would go stale and die before I used it all. I will not risk a half a gallon of juice and two cups of sugar to save a nickel. Opening a fresh packet insures I have no worries about the viability of the yeast. I recommend it to newbies to guarantee their success on their first batch. There is nothing more disheartening than waiting a month and finding your mix did not ferment.

    I'm not a moron, I'm just stupid, but even I understood your instructions and explanation of the entire process better than all the videos I've watched on the subject matter so far (and that's a lot). Thank you so much for making me feel as though I can actually do this now. I will be starting my first batch after the 3rd of next month (gotta wait for disability check) and I will keep you posted. I've wanted to do this for so long now and only got confused by the other videos. Thank you again for your wisdom.

      You are not a moron OR stupid ! You are a freaking genius !!! You are smart enough to subscribe to my channel !!! LOL !! Robert, the most important thing is to do EXACTLY as I show you the first time. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. I get so many people that contact me saying it didn't turn out right and the only thing they CHANGED was................ Most important........... make sure the cap is loose. Put it somewhere warm and out of the light. AND LEAVE IT THE HELL ALONE !!! Come back to it in a month with a clean glass and enjoy ! I hope to hear from you around the first of September.

    I made 3 batches. One grape, one cranberry and one cranberry black cherry. I did exactly as you say and after 23 full days i checked on them and both the cranberry bottles are still just barely bubbling a little bit so i put them back. But the grape was not bubbling as far as i could tell. I saw in one video that you mentioned it takes about 3 weeks but you give it the extra week just to let it all settle.
    Well after a little over 3 weeks now i went ahead and poured a water bottle full of the grape and i just had my first taste and OOOOOOHHHHHHH MAAAAAN DOES IT EVER HAVE SOME LEGS ON IT. 🤣 The smell and the flavor are strong and it's so sweet that it's almost scary good.
    I'm not a big drinker anymore but this is so good that i could very easily overdo it with this stuff. 🤣 So just a warning to anyone who might see this. If you have a low tolerance or don't drink much. Be careful because you could just about chug this wine down like koolaid it's so good.
    Anyways I'm real happy with the results of my first batch Paw Paw. Thank you for such a great recipe and heres to you and yours. 😁 Cheers 🍷

    Just finished my first batch Paw! Still can't wait to grab that drink with ya. I'll email you when I get back on my feet and can buy you a drink. ANYWAY! Ya'll Morons, listen to PawPaw! This white grape peach (great value) is INCREDIBLE. I kept it at bout 70-80 degrees and after 21 days Holy Hell. It's absolutely delicious!, and not only that but gooooood god! Once you take that first gulp it'll hit you right in the chest. It ain't like this 10% $10-20 a bottle garbage. This stuff is delicious and does more than the trick. It's pushing 20% easy. I'm gonna buy a tester and update this later to let you know what I can get the proof up too. Anyway! Listen to PawPaw and 3 weeks later you'll be happy. I made two batches but trust me the white grape peach is the BEST. I did a pineapple and cherry batch that's good but his is even better. So listen to Paw "SIT IT n FORGET IT." Do what he says and you'll be happy. Ya'll have a great day and a better tomorrow! Thanks Pawpaw! (;

    • @DoingItCheap
      @DoingItCheap  5 років тому +3

      When you take out 2 cups of juice, you are left with one and a half quarts. Use one and a half cups of sugar and 3/8 teaspoon of yeast. 1/2 teaspoon is not too much, but the extra adds up on larger batches......remember, one quart, one cup, 1/4 teaspoon

    Paw Paw as you well know there is no such thing as a dumb question only dumb people that ask dumb questions. Now let me ask you a question which I know that you haven’t talked about yet because I have watched all your videos. The question is after the month is up and the top is loose can I put the top on tight and put it away for as long as I choose to and also what would you say about how long I could leave it and forget it after I put the top on tight before it goes bad or does it. PS I am a subscriber LOL

    • @DoingItCheap
      @DoingItCheap  5 років тому

      Howard, you have been with me a long time and I know you are a subscriber, but I am gonna use your channel as an example. If anyone goes to your channel, you have your privacy settings set to not reveal who you are subbed to. Now for your question.....that apple you saw me pour actually was still putting out pressure today and it was mixed 11/28/18. The cap is gonna be sealed as far as air goes just sitting there. You SHOULD be safe after six weeks IF it has been kept warm enough for all fermentation to cease. Tighten the cap and check it after only 24 hours. See if loosening it gives you a hissing sound from pressure escaping.

    Hey PawPaw! Since you mentioned that the "White Grape Peach" was your favorite, I decided on giving it a try! I broke out my brewing stuff again, and gonna make a run of 5 gallons though. Haha! Last time I used it, was when I made the sugar wash from your other video early last year. It turned out really good, and you get a lot of variety from 1 batch. Gonna also run off a bottle of cranberry-grape, and one of the apple. Have you tried the honey crisp apple one yet? I may run back and grab a bottle of it, too! Anyway, was just gonna mention that, I measured the "White Grape Peach" before adding any sugar. It looks like, if you just decide to pitch yeast, without adding sugar, you'd still get around 7-9% alc anyway. Might be handy to know for the next 100 times you get asked. Haha! Take it easy! :)

    Sheesh! I had NO IDEA how easy wine is to make! I feel kind of ripped off now paying what I’m paying for wine. I’m kinda cheap anyway but now, Corona poor! 🙄 I’m DEFINITELY going to try this! Thanx for making it so simple! I think some people (i.e., me) can’t believe how simple it can be because we always thought wine making was this incredibly complicated and sophisticated process. (And yes, I’m one of those people who tend to make a simple process difficult in my mind cuz I overthink things).
    You are a godsend, Paw Paw! And give your wonder dog ear scratches from me.

      The high class winemakers don't want you to know how easy it is. They scare you with tablets and equipment and all manner of expensive things............... I don't think ancient Egyptians had any of that fancy stuff, do you ?

    Hi PAW PAW you are lucky that you have so much variety and choices of juice sold in plastic bottles. In the UK we are limited for choice and can only buy cardboard cartons of juice that are much smaller.

      The Aldi in the UK are selling apple juice in cardboard cartons for 79 pennies (1L). In the Netherlands we have the same situation (cardboard cartons), but I clean some other plastic (soda) bottles and pour it in it. It never failed.

    I have made 6 maybe 7 batches of this wine. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS EXACTLY! Do not deviate! Trust me! I find concord grape, and apple to be the best. Anything acidic like orange, or pineapple makes for some harsh wine. I do have a sip here and there, however I mostly use this wine for cooking. Made some amazing things with it. Thanks again Paw Paw!

    Papa, first I want you for your service to our country. When I first started watching your videos I was a little skeptical. However, after making several batches and sampling them I won't drink store bought wine again! I may even be an inch taller!
    Right now I've started an experiment with 4 batches of white grape wine started at the same time. One with 1/2 cup of sugar, one with 1 cup of sugar, one with 1 1/2 cups of sugar per your recipe, and one without sugar.

    So...I bottled my first batch in some empty store bought wine bottles. One particular bottle of note was 750 ml. I remember drinking that bottle of store bought wine in one sitting. I remember a slight buzz at that time. So, in the interest of scientific comparison, I felt I had no choice other than to drink the whole bottle of my homemade wine. Apples to apples, so to speak. So what did I learn? Per my wife (the following day), I'm not nearly as good a dancer as I had come to believe I was, only a few short hours previously.

    This moron just made my first batch of white grape wine using your recipe without any deviation. After waiting a month, it's as clear as can be with the sediment at the bottom. I didnt rack it off; I just poured it carefully. Wow is it good! Thank you for taking the time to share it with us!
