I saw your wine making recipe using 100% juice around 4 yrs ago. I have made it with many flavors and all have been crazy good. Concord grape, cran grape, cranberry, apple, and the wifes favorite, white grape peach. Im a vodka man but that wine is awesome. All our friends love it. And it will sneak up on you right quick. The wife don't drink much at all but a good 6oz glass and I have to hide the bottle! We are close to 50yrs old so nothing crazy. Just chillaxing. Have a good one and enjoy the videos!
Good Morning PawPaw, I started making your wine recipe in Dec. I now make it with 1 gallon juices that I get at winco or Food for Less. It's a very good feeling making my own wine and I really thank you for showing all of us how to do it!!!!
Great to see you again Paw paw. I am going to make some ginger ale wine using chopped ginger root and your recipe. I will make one with apple juice and one with water. I also plan to try some flavor extracts. Fun!
Me thinks that maybe PopPops may have spent a couple months in the old county gray bar motel in his younger days. That's where I learned to make that stuff.
Pawpaw my wine is ready! I kept it in a box with a heating pad on low and the grape finished in 3 weeks and the cranberry and the apple went one more week. They are all just beautiful and clear. My favorite is the grape. It will be my staple. I am not a big wine drinker or drinker for that matter but I really enjoy a little sip after eating. So pleasant. And it actually lowers my blood sugar. I'm going to try the white grape peach too. Thank you so much for teaching us how to do this. 😊❤
Howdy Paw paw , I followed this recipe of yours using water, sugar, and yeast and let it sit for 30 days and yesterday bottled it, making one with grape and the other with watermelon flavored Kool-Aid. It turned out very well and tasted great! It actually ended up being sort of carbonated, unlike the other wine I have made from your instruction which came as a surprise. I use 64 oz bottles (pouring out some as per instruction) and after it ferments pour it into 1.5-liter wine bottles so end up with nearly two full bottles. Thank you for sharing this recipe! Wishing you and yours a great August.
If you think its finished but there is still bubbles, either leave it till it is still ... or if you are thirsty ... crash it by putting it in the fridge for a couple of hours.
My wife will drink a whole bottle. Then she generally gets up on the roof and starts yelling at people in cars passing by. Meanwhile back in the house my little Canary who fights me over my eggs in the morning also thinks I poured a glass of wine for him.The only way he will let me drink my glass n peace is for me to pour him his own glass. I was working on a wind tunnel in Tullahoma as a welder in 1978. I rented a small house across the street from a cemetery downtown .I really liked it there in Tullahoma. Beautiful place in summer!
paw paw, i know and teach your receip but im always clicking on the wine making and tasting videos beause i know its going to be a blast! please keep making them, experimenting in all sorts of ways.
Hey papa just finished my grape wine. I did a sparkley wine, next one I'm making a mango wine again. Mango one was really good, and it pairs very well with chicken or pork street tacos. Thank you papa for sharing your recipe. Have a good day papa. 😊
Been binge watching your wine making videos. You somehow figured out a way to take 20-30 mins to explain a 2 min process and make it fun to come along for the ride! 👍 good stuff pawpaw, cheers from SE Texas!
@@DoingItCheap I haven’t seen that one. I like the extended versions you got and how you explain things with a whole bunch of personality. You’re like the hickok45 of wine making! (he does gun content on UA-cam). Take it easy and I’ll be tuning in!
I've been shaking my wine 🤦♂️next batch. I will leave alone. Love the empty nip bottles on the table 😂 2 cups light brown sugar 1/2 a packet of yeast, set it an forget it 💯 love the videos!! Keep it coming 👍🫡
Papaw, if you like chocolate milk, try mixing about 2-3 ozs of whiskey or tequila in a highball glass. Give it a healthy squirt of chocolate syrup. Stir that up & then fill it on up with milk. Stir and drink. It is sooooo good! You could probably do it with any alcohol & it is so dang good! I hope you try it! Love your videos!
Yeah that's some good wine I made some for myself and yeah it turned out good then I got to thinking about how to kick the proof up a little so I got a bottle of ever clear and added that to the bottle that had been setting for a month or so working off whew it's estimated to be around 30 to 40 proof Lol thanks for the information pawpaw.
Hey Paw Paw. Thank you for another video! I've made my last two batches of wine using only 100% grape juice, a little less than 2 cups of sugar, and one whole packet of fast acting bread yeast. For me, the fast acting yeast seems to work better than the regular yeast, and cut a little time off the fermentation process. I bought some off brand juice, and I'll never use anything other than 100%! It had an off taste. And the only thing I've noticed from using one whole packet of yeast per jug was just a little more sediment at the bottom is all. Thanks again and hope you're doing well 😊
Some people claim there is a lingering taste of the yeast when drinking. Dunno. Never tried using more than necessary. I think you will find that temperature is your time variable more than the amount of yeast.
@@DoingItCheapI used some yeast that was already open, so maybe it went bad? Yeah definitely agree with the temperature aspect. I have mine on top of my water heater in a dark closet. That seems to work out well.
@@JoeC730 I’ve found that using too much yeast can make it a little off tasting. I’ve made one big five gallon bucket batch and one pack of yeast seemed perfect for that. So far far, the best I made was from 100% Welch’s frozen concentrate, from pawpaw’s recipe, and it was almost TOO good.
I love the smell while juice is actively fermenting the first 3 days and I've tasted some, thinking it would taste as good as it smelled (as you know, it didn't taste nice AT ALL!!!! haha). ProTip: If it isn't ready after 4 weeks, just wait longer. Now I've got probably 6 to 10 bottles of home-made wine of all different kinds that are all aged and ready to drink. The Great Value (purple) grape juice is my favorite.
Because you have to wait and let all the stuff in the bottle settle down to the bottom, a lot of it would be the Kool aid powder too. So you add it after pouring off the wine into a new bottle so you can keep it shook up and evenly flavored
Although it's possible to culture yeast, it wouldn't be worth the added cost in materials and the added complications. The cost of the yeast needed for 1 bottle can be found on ground in a wal-mart parking lot.
First, thank you for subscribing !! You are not to touch it or even think about looking at it for 30 days !! If you open the cap, you may let contaminants into it. You will start to smell a little yeasty alcohol odor as it burps if you put the cap on it the way I showed you.
BlackBerry and wild black cherry tonight. Pop has this steamer juicer thing that sorta looks like a still. We use that for making jelly I don't know how but it steams every little bit of juice outta wild cherries, blackberries, raspberries, muscidines and even strawberries. Dont work on tomatoes IDK why not. Anyway I've just finished a big 2 quart jar of muscidine wine from juice from 2022. Now im starting on blackberry from juice from 2021. I have to stray from your recipe just a tad as far as sugar goes because plain blackberry juice and plain muscidine juice needs a lot of sugar. But yeah they aint cheap but man oh man does it make it easy to get juice from fruit. No colander and wooden masher. No strainer and easy clean up. Just throw the e leftovers in the compost and put the steamer in the dishwasher.
My comment has 2 likes, I think you need to watch it, you don't say whether to make the kool-aid first or add it to water/sugar/yeast mixture. You never opened a packet. That's fine, we're all getting old, lol.@@DoingItCheap
And one thing i like is that you say what think, you don't try to be nice, you are real. You make me laugh so much. Thank you for making my day.

There were probably bubbles still present. 30 days is more like an average. It is finished making alcohol when it is dead calm like stale coffee.
If you think its finished but there is still bubbles, either leave it till it is still ... or if you are thirsty ... crash it by putting it in the fridge for a couple of hours.

I just started a bottle of welches gape juice a week ago and its still bubbling. Going to start another one tomorrow. This one is white grape.
Its so interesting, it has taken my concord grape juice 22 days to stop bubbling and my apple juice wine is still bubbling!
Yes, I tell people to set it and forget it for 30 days. Three weeks to make, one week to clear up.
@@DoingItCheap Man im so excited, if this stuff really tastes good, im might start doing this more often. It will save me money for sure!

Try white grape and add cherry koo-aid. Just don't tell.😋
When and how do you add the koolaid 22:39
Yep im same way. Out of the juices i like the cranberry the best.
Why do you wait to add the kool-aid mix after??

Dry active bread yeast has about 12% alcohol tolerancw!!
