This was the Robin Hood movie that I grew up with, and I still love it today, despite its flaws. The theme still absolutely pumps me up. Whenever someone asks me if I’ve seen a Robin Hood movie, or which one is my favorite…this one always comes to mind.
early 90s were truly awesome back then, my favo movies of all times! not just this movie, also Bram stokers Dracula or Blood in Blood out, or Goodfellas, or even comedy like Dumb and dumber, the jim carey movies, same as action Under Siege, or even comedy version robin hood men tights was an good one, or Home alone movies.. it was all good, dunno what changed later in 96 and on, it kinda sucked...
and Braveheart by Mel gibson! classic!
@@adopodrinje1499 Yes Bram Stoker’s Dracula is AWESOME imo
"And WHY should the people listen to you?"
"Because unlike other Robin Hood's, I can speak with an English accent." 🤣
I don't care what anyone says about this movie. Prince of Thieves is an epic, badass movie and the late Mr. Alan Rickman made it so.
So true....loved this as a kid!!
Your mom made it so
Exactly
This movie was absolutely huge when it came out,Costner was at the peak of his Fame.
Yeah the 90s wasn't a good time for him.
I was 8 years old when this movie came out. I saw it with my mom on opening weekend and I was obsessed. I wore the tape out when it came out on video.
I was only 6, but I thought it was so cool!
I was 10 I think. 10/11. Bryan Adams ballad ❤️❤️❤️
@@Juju2012ZA me and the wife rewatched Prince of thieves and The Three Musketeers (1993) within a few weeks of eachother not too long ago and realized that they were basically the same movie. Both movies had similar scenes, almost shot for shot. Both movies had Michael Wincott as the secondary villain and pretty much the same character. Both movies had cheesy Bryan Adams songs. Both movies make you want to go grab a stick from the back yard and start sword fighting
@@oliverjason I have the movies on DVD and on my hard drive 🤦🏻♀️🥰 if you need an extra, I’ll just grab my machete from the tool shed…
10 times better than the 2018 version. The cast in this was fantastic
An iconic classic! The most popular and beloved Robin Hood adaptation! Praise the Prince of Thieves!
Best Robin Hood movie because it's fun, never tire of it's 90s charm
I think Robert and Marian is better.
My favorite Robin Hood movie. I remember when I was child in early 2000s and I loved seeing and seeing the vhs.
Kevin Costner, Alan Rickman, Sean Connery and the single of Bryan Adams are things so nostalgic!
Sean Connery was in First Knight (1995), with Richard Gear and Julia Ormond, not Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. First Kight is also a great movie!
@@XVeganDaveGodFreeX Sean Connery was King Richard with a little part in the movie!
Sean Connery had a cameo in the movie.
BEST ROBIN HOOD MOVIE EVER 😍😍😍
Yes 🏹🏹🏹
best FILM ever made
Facts! Best robin hood.
Absolutely
U joking ejj😂
one of the very best robin hood movies ever with a amazing cast too
This movie was big at the time, I remember when I saw it in theaters. 90s action movies are the best!
The music to Willow (by James Horner) makes this trailer epic and then the movie goes on to have its own epic score from Michael Kamen. The late 80's right into the 90's was a great time for film and film music.
It's pretty fitting that the music was used in this trailer. Back when I first watched Willow, Robin Hood was airing that night on TV and I found them both very similar tonally and visually apart from one being more fantastical. From watching Willow to Robin Hood, I was getting the same taste of epic adventure that day and the music in either would have worked for the other.
Amen to that. Mark Mancina’s music for _Speed_ is one of the all time greats.
Also great time for voice over mguy in trailers. They really need to bring him back!!!
This is my Robin Hood story. You know how people go “Ten is MY Doctor, Eleven is MY Doctor etc etc...” Well, Costner is MY Robin Hood, Masterantonio is MY Maid Marion, Slater is MY Will Scarlett, Brimble is MY Little John, Rickman is MY Sheriff - you know what, this whole movie is just MY Robin Hood story.
Daniel Newman is MY Little John's son... wait... there aren't any others. :-D
Ten is my Doctor. Costner is my Robin Hood. Keaton is my Batman.
i love this movie i still got it on vhs
VHS yes!
Same
The best Robin Hood movie.
This is a good movie but the robin hood of 2010 is better.
I prefer the Men in Tights version.
@@MVivar-dj8cp Nope.
I grew up watching Robin Hood Men In Tights, I just watched this movie and SOOO many more jokes in Men in Tights make sense now.
“AND CALL OFF CHRISTMAS” ….. best line in all of the film 😂 rip Allen rickman
"Why a Spoon?"
Just watched Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. First time in well over a decade. Even though it's become almost a parody over years because of its flaws, this film is way better than I remember it being. Borderline brilliant. A good time at the movies. A++
I've just watch the 2018's version of robin hood. That movie are garbage, this one is a legend
agree
i prefer the mel brooks version
Nah that version id better
@@jaykegamer8959 truss me that version is way better dis one is dead
Anyone here who loves the Errol Flynn version?
They keep saying best Robin Hood movie ever... how about one of the best movies ever PERIOD!
RIP Mr.Rickman
Rest in Paradise
Kevin Costner and Alan Rickman 😻
"There was a rich man from nottingham who tried to cross the river, what a joke, he tripped on a rope, now look at him shiver" ....... its sad that I didn't have to look that up.
"dope" lol. One of my favorite parts, when Robin bests John Little.
This movie was awesome
The actor Alan Rickman who played the villainous "Sheriff of Nottingham" in this film, also played Hans Gruber in the "Die Hard" film!
And Professor Snape in all of the Harry Potter films.
Always.
@@anonymouse257 Agreed. R.I.P Alan Rickman.
Today on "Your dad just discovered the Internet..."
I just saw DIE HARD for the first time ev ever in life two days ago lol. It recognized him immediately.
Best Robin Hood adaptation ever, childhood memories.Alen Rickman stole the whole movie with his brilliant acting...
RIP Alan Rickman.
Robin Hood with Willow score. Epic!
Horner really, really nailed it with Willow.
This one is way better than Russel Crows Robin Hood. This one has more battles, more plot, and Kevin Costner is a way better Robin Hood.
Best and most epic Robin Hood film to date. Still nothing will ever going to top Robin of Sherwood (1984-11986) tv series.
That was amazing 😍
Alan Rickman?! OKAY
Kevin costner is my fave actor absoutley love him in this movie n bodyguard he gorgeous xxxx
Fun fact: After the Stunning success of Dances with Wolves, Costner was to star in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
Upon hearing this, Columbia pictures decided to turn their own big budget, swashbuckling Robin Hood epic (starring Patrick Bergen) , into a low budget TV movie.
THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH MOVIES LIKE THIS
Trailers were magical when you were a kid. 10 year old me in the theater, @1:41 when he fires off that cast, hearing the Willow theme, got me HYPED to see this that summer.
So good looking Kevin here!
I think I've watched this movie at least 100 times. It's still awesome even today. The movie trailer is cheesy as hell though. I can't figure out why so many classic movies have terrible trailers.
Fair Phil watch the first season 1 game of thrones trailer, that’s cheesy
Good superheroes need cheesy side kicks
Because that's how things were back then. Pretty sure this passed as an amazing trailer at the time
Hey look, it's Wyatt Earp, Vitruvius/Sgt.Rawlins/Mandela, Hans Gruber, Scroop and Indiana Jones's dad in the same movie!
Willow's music goes really well with Robin Hood. RIP James Horner
Yea what’s up with that?
@@ZBR_ProXP For some random reason they used this in a bunch of epic blockbuster trailers around this time. There used to be a trailer of thr 3 Musketeers using the same score too lol.
Great sound track though.
My all time favorite Robin Hood movie!!
This and disneys three musketeers were my versions of the heroes growing up i still loved them
I watched this kovie more time than i can remember and will watch it again. Plus Bryan Adams song is awesome keeps bringing me back.
Just finished it with my parents and LOVED it, such a wonderful escape ❤️ 🏹
This is one of my two favorite Robin Hood films, the other is The Adventures of Robin Hood.❤️👍🏹
This is what we need right now, in 2021!
Childhood favorite.
When was a child, I was a big fan of Willow (1998). One time my mom and I went to the movie theater. I don't remember what we saw, but I remember our auditorium was the farthest one down. We stared heading that way and all I heard the Willow theme playing and thought "OMG, it's a Willow 2 trailer! They're making Willow 2!" So I screamed "OMG, mom I'll be right back!" I'll bolted into that theater. My mom saying "That's not our theater, where are you going?" When I got in there and looked at the screen it was Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. I was so terribly confused and my heart was broken.
Kevin Kostner sounds like an American playing Robin Hood.
so bad lool
He sounds like what all pre-industrial Brits sounded like before they invented the accent
Christian Slater is worse as will scarlet
the song is the best
Third best Robin Hood movie of ALL TIME yall.
1. Disney's Robin Hood
2. Robin Hood: Men in Tights
3. Robin Hood: Waterworld
icosotc best comment
Alan Rickman gave the movie so much character. There was a foible in the writing though. He sees his statue with a facial scar and then turns to two wenches and says, you in my bedroom 10:30 and you 10:35. The problem is there were no time pieces in that age to be that precise.
"Ok, we've edited this movie to make sure Alan Rickman doesn't steal the whole show from Costner. For god's sake, make sure Rickman doesn't talk in the trailer!"
"Sure boss, we'll let Costner do all the talking!"
"...maybe no one talks in the trailer."
Mom and Dad saw this movie twice at the Cinedome in Fremont, California. That theater has since closed. I have the film's soundtrack on CD.
Interesting how the actual soundtrack alters the feel compared with this trailer. Really fantastic film. Saw it in the cinema in 1991!!! You could get away with American accents in such films back then.
Soundtrack they are using in this trailer is from the film _Willow_ for some reason.
Alan Rickman! Alan Rickman! Brilliant and beautiful Alan Rickman!
I think the English TV series is my favourite even though I was very young and can only remember the Clanaad theme song vividly. I'm sure it was cheesy af but I remember every episode having a feel good message and every episode Robin would get one over the sheriff. It was brilliant. This is my favourite movie adaptation and it's also cheesy af watching after so many years bit that's part of its charm. The (American accented) dialogue was great, the story, the prod values, the acting, great. It was just a bit rough around the edges that's all. Todays big budget movies are so polished, edited and perfected to within an inch of their existence and have kind of lost their charm. The music industry is the same. I don't know, I guess I'm trying to say the cliché'd old "They don't make 'em like they used to"
This movie is my favorite Robin Hood movie!
I'm 6 years behind on replying and yes you're correct
me too it is the best robin hood movie ever
Kevin Costner was so gorgeous!!!
Hello 👋
So glad that alan won a bafta award for his evil villain role as the sheriff of Nottingham pat buttram played him in the Disney animated movie rip Alan and pat
This trailer and its cheesy music gives you the impression you're getting a classic, swashbuckling family adventure. Despite there being action aplenty, the actual film is anything but this - and that's a good thing. Adore this film, even went to 'the tree' in Northumberland for a picture.
Loved this
movie and Kevin.
Kevin Costner and Errol Flynn are the best Robin Hood
I liked Errol Flynn’s Robin Hood,
but Kevin Costner is nothing like the character.
If they wanted an American actor for this movie who actually resembles Robin Hood, it should’ve been Val Kilmer from Tombstone.
Willow!
crom2 It is odd isn't it, especially given how iconic the actual score became.
Gonna watch this tonight
Alan Rickman stole the show and without him it wouldnt have been the legendary movie that it is today. R.I.P.
I don’t get how robin was able to get out of his chuckles in the beginning scene when they were about to cut off his hand
Who else came here again after watching Cary Elwes roast this film in Men in Tights?
Love both movies btw
Can't believe this movie will be 30 years old next year
The first PG 13 film I saw in the movie theater.
did this really originally have the Willow theme attached to the trailer??
korky94 Using music from other movies in trailer on different film is nothing so strange up until today in doing trailers.
I wish they included this into nowadays trailers.
yes
Which is kind of funny, because the main theme for Prince of Themes was then used by Disney for all kinds of trailers, became the main anthem for Morgan Creek production company, and a number of other things. I love James Horner, but Michael Kaman's Overture is one of the very best.
This is relevant during lockdowns
The strange music in this trailer makes it feel like a completely different movie
Best movie to smoke a joint to.
The Bryan’s adams song I played and played and knew every word when I was 5years old when it came out.
Great and adventurous :-)
Great movie, but I just can't get Robin Hood Men in Tights out of my head lol
I Watch this movie only for Alan Rickman ❤️❤️
That's Kevin Costner
Wait. I have never seen this movie. I thought Kevin looked like Alan in the thumbnail. You mean they are both in this movie? The two most handsome actors in the world? Thank god I ordered this movie today lol
This was okay movie too the best from Kevin Costner's performance. What a great feature movie from all time classic. The tales of Robin Hood Kevin Costner took us on the journey with the character. In a new direction of the movie. This was an okay movie
My All time favorite movie wonderful superb great. Kiven Costner
One of my favorites
Still my favorite adaptation of this character
You can't fool me, Robin Hood. I know Willow music when I hear it.
They used the Willow movie soundtrack for this trailer ❤❤
Jack Wild is in the Film. He's probably best known for his act role as The Artful Dodger from 1968 Oliver.
This is still one of the best versions of Robin Hood ever. This movie will never get old.
And I love listening to the Willow movie soundtrack when watching this. (Because that’s what’s actually playing here)
Looks great. Many of my favorite actors are in it. How does it compare to Willow & Princess Bride? Same type of vibe or more serious? Love those 2 movies. 💯😎
Equal or better, its a good film worth watching, its action, comedy, romance, adventure all rolled into one. classic 90s film, this trailer does not do it justice.
@@TPBurrow Then I definitely need it. 💯 I thought the trailer made it look great!
the best robin hood of l the movies
My ultimate robin hood movie 💘💘💘💘🏹🏹🏹🏹

Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991) Official Trailer #1 - Kevin Costner Action Adventure
The most iconic Robin Hood ever, as a kid I enjoyed it: it is comedic and more a kid's/family movie. I felt that the plot kind of got lost in the second act and it feels a little stale leading up to the finale.
Great movie I remember watching this as a 8 year old kid and having the biggest crush on maid marrien
Greatest robin good movie
Wow!! i dont remember they used Willow theme movie for the trailer!!
Amazing, love Mel Brooks
Music from the great film, Willow.
When trailers and movies were simpler.
Everything I do....
My favoritt Robin Hood movie. 😊😀
