Will always be my favourite Robin Hood, is a slight shame he clearly didn’t master an English accent but everytime I watch this film it’s only a line or 2 that his USA accent really shines through 🤣
@@sirloin8745 the traditional English accents did not exist during the 1100s. Robin most likely would have spoken Norman dialect of French or Middle English.
the way this scene is built is so perfect! You get some hope when Robin and his man fend off Notthingham's first wave and then you see that the second wave is ready with incendiary arrows and catapults and you realize that they are finished!
Fun fact. Kevin Costner began filming for this motion picture almost immediately after directing, and starring in Dances With Wolves. Therefore, he didn't have time to learn how to speak with an English accent. He initially wanted to delay filming for a month or two so that he could educate himself on how to speak with a proper dialect, but the studio executives refused, because by doing so, they wouldn't be able to finish producing the film in time for a summer release. Since then, most critics pointed out Costner's lack of accent first and foremost in almost every review. But Alan Rickman, who played The Sheriff of Nottingham, came to Costner's defense claiming that during the 1200's (The time this film takes place) most of the people living in England, at the time, actually didn't speak with accents either. Apparently different dialects developed with the invention of modern english, which didn't begin to take shape until the mid to late 1400's. 😊 Anyways....This was my absolute favorite film, for a couple years, when it first released. I was only 12 at the time. I always was enamoured with the Robin Hood lore, and being a kid who didn't know movies anywhere near as much as I did when I got older, I liked the fact that this film had a nice variety of romance, humor, action, and at times, seriousness. I also liked how this version seemed to me, at the time, to have rooted itself in a more realistic medieval setting comparable to other Robin Hood films up to that point. To this day, I enjoy this fim probably more than any other Robin Hood related film ever made; though when Ridley Scott's version was initially released, in 2009, I had such high hopes for it. That particular one was even more grounded in realism, featuring historical events; such as how King Richard (instead of being the hero king that Robin stays loyal to, despite The Sheriff of Nottingham's attempts to rule England over him...like in countless other films and stories) died in the beginning of the film in the exact manner of his actual real death. But overall, and because of Alan Rickman's iconic performance, I still prefer this version of Robin Hood (complete with all it's flaws) over any other version ever made. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.😊
The accent (the lack of it) I can understand, but why is he saying OK .... OK? Who wrote this crap? "OK" is undisputedly an Americanism that hasn't even existed until 1800s.
l was hoping that Azim after hearing the Celts chief shouting out he was going after him, a huge sword vs. a huge ax what a match if it happened that way.
They just didn’t count on Nottingham and his men having their arrows dipped in pitch and they were set on fire to destroy the base of Robin Hood and his men
Robin wasn't stealing from anyone. The rich were stealing from the peasants, so THEY were the REAL thieves. Robin was giving the peasants back what was rightfully theirs.
Kevin Costner did a good job in this film. But they really should’ve hired someone from the UK to play Robin Hood. Sean Bean could’ve done it very well. Playing almost exclusively bad guys he can do the darkness and determination very well. It would’ve been nice to see him as a good guy for a change.
My all time favorite Kevin Costner movie. I saw it numerous times at the theater and on tv too. Great.
Dances with wolves is better imo
That's some action-packed scene.
Costner knew how to deliver.
Costner did a great job as Robin Hood.

I wonder how much Kevin Costner was paid to have real flaming arrows shot at him?
100% They give us that brief moment of victory and then complete dread
This had such a brilliant soundtrack to it!!

At least there wasn’t a corresponding song with this, that played FOREVER during the Summer of 1998? 😎
@@sirloin8745 Lol. It was the summer of 1992, but yeah. Nobody can hear that song without thinking of that film.😆

The lack of an English accent from Costner made no difference at all really, in that he was acted off the screen by Alan Rickman anyway.
Nick Brimble playing the role of the group enforcer Little John with that big quarterstaff the big stick that can knock someone out cold

That would’ve made for an awesome fight scene.
It does not seem like any killed the Celtic chieftain he wasted a couple of the merry men.
@@gjergjjiim1615 He wasn't, in the hanging scene you can see along with the barons the chief was with them behind the sheriff.

I really love and respect Friar Tuck, here: he first cares to save the children. A real hero ❤
Love how frier tuck protects the children
Notice the kelts didn't go after the children
"Allah be merciful" im Christian but i always loved that line ❤️
today nerds would've called the film woke because there was a black guy
The most intense moment in the film
I loved this movie.
Morgan freeman. Most underrated movie sidekick in this movie. Cool as fuck
alan rickman, the best
R.I.P Mr Alan Rickman.
He died of Cancer.
Such a classic film
The film takes place in the year of 1199 A. D.
Time of when King Richard the 1st. The Lionheart is gone away at war.
"FANNY!!!" Damn that hits hard
Best Robin movie ❤

It's my favorite scene from my favorite movie as a kid.
Actor Nick Brimble.
He was in BBC Narnia. The Silver Chair 1989.
A Kinght's Tale 2001.
Robin Hood: Oh no.
Little John: What did Duncan do to stir a hornets nest to our camp?!
Azeem: Alaah, be merciful!
An old friend of mine apparently acted as a background character in this scene! I’m trying to find him!
5:40 most emotional moment of the clip
Aside from " The UNTOUCHABLES", YES, Costner did an exquisite job with this film. 9am
I can't understand why this film has mixed or bad reviews. It was such a great movie of the time and a classic from my childhood
Robin wasn't stealing from anyone. The rich were stealing from the peasants, so THEY were the REAL thieves. Robin was giving the peasants back what was rightfully theirs.
Medieval Police-less Period.
No Constabulary either.
No Emergency Services to help you with situations back then!
Can you imagine that?
I’m surprised that this music isn’t part of the OST
Reminds me of my first day at high school.
Great
The best
Too any celtics.
What does 1:15 mean in Scottish?
A truly brilliant film despite Costner because of Alan Rickman as the Sheriff of Nottingham
God who cares this movie is top.5 for me. Might one of my favorite movies ever😂

Costner was the greatest movie star in the world at this time. Thats most likely why they hired him.
999.
Which Service do you require?
I love this movie, but I think that the time travel plot device was a bittoo much 😂
I hope Cate Blancett isn't in this one, please.
Assolutamente no è del 1991😊
She's in 2010 Robin Hood.

xD !! GG!!
Costner's acting was atrocious in this film. Thankfully, there were good performances around him and some of the cheesy, campy dialogue was fun.
He didn’t perform that bad you buggin. To this day he’s probably the best Robin Hood ever.
