I think this is the first disaster save I've seen where it wasn't really a disaster in the first place.
Especially when the USA joined.

@@DLWildcard Honestly I'm just as surprised as you are. I always assumed the US 100% joins the normal Allies in historical.
Germany owned Poland proper because Poland capitulated to the Soviets and they honoured the molotov ribbentrop pact, so Germany was set as owner to Western Poland. When Germany capitulated, they were the owners of Poland meaning the allies could mess around there.

9:30 what happened was probably poland lost western parts ownership to germany because of molotov ribbentrop pact and poland owned only the eastern parts which soviets hold occupation
Hey Bitt3rsteel, I’ve owned HOI4 for at least a year now because I love military history and I love civ sims but was always put off by the sheer steep learning curve of the game. Watching your videos gave me the confidence to play, I’m on my 4th attempt at winning the war as Germany and haven’t done it yet but I’m having so much fun I don’t care. Thanks for your videos!

as someone who was in your place not that long ago, once you win your first war as germany its exhilerating. i suggest, if you want to make it easier for yourself, pushing into britain as quickly as possible after capitulating france to end the war and annex their stuff, then you can reorganise to fight the soviets without the US joining and turning it into a slog. good luck!
make sure to take out britain after france capitulates. that way the us wont join the war and you can focus on the soviets
Honestly when I play Germany I can usually just paratroop UK and since the AI is so stupid I don’t need a navy or air force. Then the Soviets collapse like a house on fire.

@5:21 you want to split the exiled divisions off into their own theatre. And then set that theatres reinforcement priority to low. That way it'll prioritize your own front line divisions instead of spreading not enough guns around too thinly.

Thanks for covering this. Your content does alot to help lower the bar to coming back to the game. I actually did come back to this save after sending it in and successfully pulled back my army to similar defensive positions, was a little messier but I did hold... the second time I tried it. it had been a few years since I last played so this was something I thought should be saveable but didn't save the first time, super interesting to see how others play a situation

Poland most likely got reversed Molotov-Ribbentroped so the Soviets gave land to Germany making them the owners instead of just occupying it.
I can't play without player lead peace conferences. I capitulated Italy, Turkey and Japan as Greece while in the allies and all the British and the French did was take 4 million casualties in Africa and India, so I got a single province out of the peace deal. The war score system makes me so indescribably angry, a 4 year old could come up with a better system.
Well I have some great news for you about the next update, Paradox must have found a 4 year old somewhere!

I like this kind of more minor or realistic disaster save! Lots of learning moments all around.
Edit: the Allies stealing land from Poland and screwing you over is actually super realistic lol.
Allies just had to screw Czechs one more time :D Its like its in their DNA or something.
I like the new expansion, making Russia projectile-vomit all the little countries out is somehow very satisfying
I just wish they were totally balkaniseable. If you release every state there's still a fairly large disgustingly shaped 'Russia' left in the middle because nothing else has cores there. You can split up the land between your new puppets but it'll eventually revolt since AI can't handle garrisoning 4 states.
It's just historic justice. But some cores of countries within are wrong, infuriatingly enough.

Can you do a guide on the division planner? Good tank, infantry, and motorized divisions, and how to design them based on your situation? Explain the differences in combat width?

I think I know what happened with Poland, similar to if Germany Annexes or occupies Poland after Molotov Ribbentrop , they get an event that Ussr is demanding east so they can either keep it or give it to the Soviets. similarly is Soviets annex or occupy Poland, they get an event that Germany demands the east , which you can agree to or decline( by pressing all of Poland belongs to mother land button) it's a very lesser known event tbh

Because Poland capitulated to the soviets, while Molotov-ribbentrop, the game gave germany all those territories as owned.
Imagine the situation:
Soviets attack Poland (germany is at peace with poland)
Molotov ribbentrop is active.
If germany would only get the control, it would immediatly revert back to poland.
It is the same with the soviets in standard.
Normally the soviets get the polish territory as directly controlled

I really want to try HOI4 cause I'm a huge history and military nerd. I'm also czech (though I live in the US) so I was pretty excited when I saw you could play as czechloslovakia. But it just looks so complicated
Až tak komplikované to není. Je tam hodně možností ve směru zlepšování do budoucna,kdy člověk přesně ví kdy vyzbrojit jaké divize a jaké taktiky použít,ale v základu člověku stačí prostě dělat divize,které se mu odhadem zdají nejlepší (protože poslat jízdu proti tankům je blbost i bez znalostí herních mechanik) a vědět,že červená kolečka=špatné,zelená kolečka=dobré,nic víc. Hned napoprvé s těmito znalostmi člověk Německo za Československo neporazí, ale za jiné státy je to zábava stejně a může se na nich zlepšit. Pro jistotu si stačí pustit nějaký tutorial pokrývající základy, ale vůči dalším hrám od Paradoxu je HoI celkem přehledný a jde hrát v podstatě okamžitě.
@@tefky7964 haha i wish i could understand that. While I'm czech, my dad and grandparents never taught me how to speak it as i was the first generation born in the US. I've tried to learn on numerous occasions but never really got the hang of it. When I say I'm czech take it with a grain of salt, cause I look czech, am genetically czech, visit on occasion, am eligible for czech citizenship, but can't speak a word of the language

Basically my whole point: Paradox games are pretty complicated and some of them take quite some time to be even able to play them at all,but HoI is probably the easiest (although ofcourse there is a lot of space for self-improvement),so watch some tutorial on UA-cam for basics or just go full yolo without any tutorial at all,being able to send soldiers to provinces and building factories is enough for a start. Skilled players know when use which type of divisions and which equipment,but for a start just use brain (because sending cavalry against tanks just isn´t a good idea even without knowledge of game mechanics). This is pretty much how I played for a start. I didn´t watch videos,so I didn´t know how to use armies,how to effectively use ships,planes,paratroopers,which divisions build and I manipulated all divisions myself without using orders,but it was fun anyway (although personally manage all units on whole front as Soviet took some time) and just by watching this video you probably know more than I knew when I started. You probably won´t be able to instantly win as Czechoslovakia against Germany (although everything is possible),but other countries are fun.

It's not that complicated, watch a simple tutorial, and practice on civilian any nation that's easy to play, Hungary, Germany, USA
All very easy and fun nations, and you can look up some guided on how to build your divisions
If you get familiar with the UI it becomes easy

I just play Czechoslovakia with NSB and try to do Czechmate achievement I turn Czechoslovakia to brown ideology and form the Austro-Hungarian empire. Allies invasion started in 1938 soviet union declared war in 1940 and Italy almost kill my run, when Italy declared war on Grece then Allies troops naval invaded Italy. I don't understand AI(Italy) stupidity. Almost all my army just defended Italy and Germany from naval invasions.

I have a challenge for you: try to conquer all of Europe and Russia against a non-historical game; you'll need to play with a European country with a lot of reserch slots because the catch is that your main division must be comprised of artillery, anti-tank and anti-air (they can't be made as support units) either as mechanised o not but you have to have a template of only does three as the base, you can have support of other types as well in them.
why the fuck do so many people left click a country tile, and then click on the flag to see their intel….. why dont you just right click the territory???

Wel, the parts we held were mostly Czech
The Slovak parts are a lot harder to hold onto, especially if you lose the allies to the east. The Czech parts can actually hold out pretty well with good fortifications and enough air defence. Of course, the historical plans expected that the fighting retreat would slowly move to the east, but that doesn't work when USSR declares on you :D And honestly, even without that, once Poland falls, that option is out of the question.
