Very organic and rustic! Love this; I'm also drawn to the single-page binding that is found in Korean and Japanese culture. Thanks for another excellent video.
I love this idea & these beautiful earthy journals! 😍🌱 My favorite part was when you said “I dropped a button & found this bit of twine on the floor & added it! 😅 That is so me! 💕
WOW, wow, and holy cow!!! Am at a loss for words to express my love for your work, your instructions, your inspiration and the sharp journals you have made. THANK YOU, terrific tutorial, hope to try one very soon, love ‘em all, thank you!!!! Saved the video and can’t wait to try!! Been a good evening!!!
I know exactly what I’m going to do with this! My five year old niece loves fairies and I’m going to make a fairy themed journal for her with this look. Thank you for the inspiration!
Greetings from New Zealand. That little tool you use to rough the edges with is a safety cutter for threads and yarn, used in place of scissors or snippers, mostly by hand embroiderers and knitter who travel a lot on public transport (you can take it on a plane), and by those who have - or are around - small children. It is like a portable version of the thread cutter on the back of a sewing machine. For anyone who might be wanting one, it can usually be found in the habidashery section of a store. I have a lovely vintage one, a round metal one with several different size notches around it, for different size threads - sewing, embroidery, and yarn. Cheers. 😊
I watched parts of this video AGAIN!! I just can’t even begin to tell you how this project resonates with my soul!!! I’m a country girl who was displaced to Indiana almost 50 years ago. This natural, organic look takes me back to my roots where we’d make things out of nature: necklaces made from the berries of dogwood trees, glitter from crushed-up rocks, etc. I gotta stop texting or I’ll end up crying. Thank you so much for this tutorial. 😍😍
Don't cry, you have a place on U Tube now. Please share some of those natural root crafts, I'm sure many people would really like it and they'd look stunning in a nature journal. I for 1 love the crushed rock idea.
@@melanieevaldi6468 I love the idea of crushed rock glitter. Like from mica rock...I love "Treasure Books" too. I learn from and I'm inspired by every tutorial.
I absolutely adore the rustic look of these little journals. You could replace the twigs with so many other items for a completely different look. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
These woodsy journals are gorgeous, Natasha! Perhaps the word you were looking for to describe them was "organic"? I can so see a theme of fairies or botanicals or forest animals in these books. I just love them so much! You just continue to amaze and inspire every time you come up with a new idea!❤️
I simply love, love crafting with nature, b/c nature provides authentic pieces and elements that can't be reproduced by a machine. Nothing is better than using found objects to create with like berries, feathers and the rustic look of branches, twigs and leaves. I'd simply love to see how you created your awesome journal covers. Thank you so much for the inspiration!
These journals are beautiful and well made! I also want to say i really love that you have provided written instructions along with your demonstrations, i and many people learn better from this combined method, so thankyou, it makes it easier and more fun for me to learn.
I’ve seen this type of binding on Pinterest a hundred times and liked the idea but only with your tutorial I got excited a plenty lot. On weekends I go for walks with audio books of my favorite authors and bring home beautiful twigs. Now I know why I have that collection. And I love the box of teabags, I have to start one for myself as well. Thanks for all the inspiration you plant with your charming tutorials.
I truly LOVE these, they are so simple but beautiful. They look so natural and rustic. Thank you for sharing them with us - I'll be in the garden looking for twigs today!! Take care, and carry on crafting, xx
This is a great way to bind a journal, thank you for reminding me about it . I first saw it years ago where the lady punched the holes first and used string to tie the twig and in another she used an elastic band , which meant you could easily replace the pages for new ones. Seeing it again makes me want to try it again! Xx
Thank you SO much! I want to make a birthday present for my mum and this is perfect. I'm so very burned out, and my head just can't make the book I wanted, but this is absolutely perfect and easy enough! I wanted to make her a book full of goodies to use for making card, and this would be great for gifting her a bunch of eco dyed papers and some of my teabags and the faux rice paper you also taught us. I will put a cute envelope with some washi stickers and a few dried flowers in it for her to use. Mum is going to be 73 and as she's into gardening, she's going to love this!!! 🖤🖤🖤
I love watching your tutorials. You explain everything with detail. Thank you for your teaching and patience with someone like me who needs some more insight with making items.
This is a marvelous idea, and so simple! I love the rustic look. I live in a cottage studio looking straight into several acres of dense woods on our property, so gathering twigs will NOT be a problem! Can't wait to start the gathering....
What a fabulous idea to use as a Nature Lover's Journal. So very pretty. As always, you never disappoint. Love watching your videos. Thanks you for the inspiration and for sharing. Enjoy your day!
Gorgeous Natasa! I love how simple, rustic and yet classic these look. These could easily be made into personal gifts for ppl that don't necessarily journal by filling it with shared thoughts and memory items for them. 😊
Absolutely BRILLIANT !!..I am SO happy you shared this idea..this fits my style perfectly!! I learn so very much from your videos. You have a wonderful style of teaching ..So thankful..💚☘️
Beautiful and so extraordinary. I would never have thought for ys sticks in my notebooks. What a brilliant idea. Thank you so much for sharing your talents with us. Blessings to you. ✝️📖🙏🙏🙏
Another great video! I swear you could take a pile of old rocks, clothes dryer lint and a bucket of random stuff from a landfill and make something gorgeous out of it! :-)
A video from Natasha!! Absolutely love this! I am a volunteer with a local animal Sanctuary and always looking for new ideas for classes and/or items to sell as a fundraiser. This little book is going to be a hit. Thank you for sharing it with us!
Natasha! I am so happy to find this video! I just came back from a trip to the mountains where I gathered sticks specifically for binding field notes journals I'll be gifting to family members. I actually had no idea how I was going to do the binding, so I really apreciate this timely tutorial! And your embellishments will also help me decorate the covers of the journals! Thank you so much and cheers from Denver CO!
I love this project. Your journals are adorable. I believe I will be trying this idea with a fairy theme and also a botanical theme. Like you say, the possibilities are endless. Thank you so much for sharing.
I was outside collecting flowers to press and dry and started thinking about all the twigs and was thinking about what I could do with these. And I have always enjoyed your notes too! Thanks so much !
Wonderful video as always Natasha, thank you for sharing how to easily make our journals look and feel in touch with our love of nature, the possibilities are endless, and you can do things like add wooden beads to the thread,or a bead at the tie off point, ohhh now the ideas are flowing.. !! Hugs of thanks xx
I really love these books..my son who just passed away 😢 I want to use the sympathy cards we have received…he was 30 and he was an avid hunter…I might use a small deer antler instead of the tree branch . ❤
I love using a stick as a binding method. It is simple, yet very unusual. I have a couple of trees in my yard that shed small branches all the time. I cannot wait to get outside and start looking for straight sticks! Hugs from Texas
It is May 26, 2022 and I just discovered your videos a few days ago. I shared them with a friend of mine and now we are both highly addicted to your videos. You are the best teacher I’ve ever seen. I watched your video about getting to know you and I admire you for the struggles you’ve overcome. You are truly an inspiration on many levels. Please keep up the good work and thank you for all your efforts.
Once again Tasa, you Shine, in proving your expertise and creative Gift for making Magic with Paper hapen!!! Thank You for giving so freely of yourself to us here. What a kind Soul you Are!! Thanks So Much!!🤗- Mindi
I think the 'freedom' word you are looking for is 'organic' - nature isn't perfect and so our work can be what it wants to be as well. Another gorgeous idea!
Well, I have wondered about sticks in bindings, but never researched the idea, and wow! Treasure Books has awesome inspiration once again. I also love that you have clear lists to remind us of the steps. Thank you so much! I love your creative channel.
I really like how you bound the books with twigs/tree branches! My favorite one is the book with the winged key on the front. I love your creative ideas, and will give this one a try! Thanks for sharing this tutorial! ~Janet in Canada ☺😺💖💖💖
I love using sticks and twigs. Used them by threading slender sticks through paper for simple cards sometimes with small beads strung on embroidery floss hanging down. I can see doing books using some of my old ideas. So many possibilities. Thank you for showing us how to bind our pages. Your instructions are so clear. ❤
Natasha, these are so lovely. Here in the Southern California desert where I live we have Cholla (pronounced choy - ya) cactus also known as jumping cactus. When the "branches" dry out they become a beautiful stick full of holes, so this is a perfect project for me as I'm hoping to sell a few little handmade treasures at the gift shop in town. As always, I thank you bunches. Love you girl, MK ♥️🤗🏜
Absolutely gorgeous my dear ! Such an organic project Natasa !!! The sloppiness works beautifully for this craft . I adore the earthy elements 🥰❤tfs !! Crafty hugs and blessings my dear !
I will definitely be making a number of these, they are so attractive and natural. Kids could make these with help from adults and then have them in which to write and to draw.
Very "earthy" and so beautiful! Your videos always inspire me. I loved your recent video on faux wax seals. I had so much fun making them! Thanks again!

Thank you Natasa for your videos. They are always inspiring. I really liked this one - so simple and rustic. I have a few people who might appreciate this style of journal. I forgot you saved the teabags. I will have to get back to that. Such a fine touch to embellish with. Keep Calm and Craft On!

I think this technique gives way to letting go and not having to be so perfect. Although everything you do looks perfect. I’m gonna have to try this. Thank you for sharing and for being a wonderful inspiration.
I just pictured all types of sticks... Or stick type of things...could be a crochet hook or pair of short knitting needles, for someone who knits or crochets, either to write patterns or tips, or a spare kitchen spoon or fork for a recipe book, or chopsticks for an oriental theme, paintbrush for an art journal, pencils for a sketchbook, plant marker sticks for a gardening journal, a dolly peg (especially one with a face and dressed) for a child's journal, a stiff piece of rope for a nautical journal, a pen for a writing journal, lolly sticks, skewers, paint stirrers, a vintage beaded necklace laid straight, a thin tube of rolled fabric, a bunch of ribbons, plaited threads, driftwood, even a paper windmill poking out the top! Or a hand flag, especially if someone is making a journal for the upcoming Queen's Jubilee long weekend, with photos of their kids or grandkids at a street party! I have photos of me at a street party in 1977, aged 7, for the Queen's Silver Jubilee! 😁 Ok....ignore me.... My mind is whirring.... 😘😘😘
