Although 90s were strange for a lot of stuff, I actually liked Interrogator very much, probably because it had Prussian military styled uniform and black "Vaderesque" helmet with Boba Fett-like face plate which was a good match by my opinion. I know many people don't like that figure, but I really have only the best memories. As always, great review, keep up with the good work!

Got this guy on a birthday once. The copter was legit fun and the character was one of my favs.
No lie this is one of my favorite COBRAs, the helmet and chest bling screams sub-lieutenant. I used to have this guy work in command mostly, he's actually bad at "torture".
He was one of my fav Cobra. Used him as a field commander and the copter was used by any Cobra that needed an escape since it lacked weapons
Interrogator is one of my favorite figs. When I was a kid in my "Joe Verse" he was Serpentor's right had man and after the execution of Cobra Commander they ran Cobra, and better I might add. As for his ride, I think he looks better piloting the Mamba.
In the first G.I. Joe NES game, your characters can "commandeer" & fly these!
Fun fact the copter appears as a vehicles in the gijoe nes game. It flies just as well. There are 90s gems and this is indeed one of them. Thanks for giving the 90s a shout out.
Great review. Back in 1993 when I got interested in collection, I found one of these still on the shelves on clearance. But I didn't give the figure much thought at the time due to the copter. I thought it was just a generic pilot. Your review has made me realize this was not a faceless army builder but a unique character. Thank you for giving it the attention it deserves.
Definitely not an army builder. He's an individual. However, army builders are awesome. Strato-Viper's, Crimson Guards, Eels, Motor Viper's, Techno-Viper's, Ice Viper's, etc. I love army builders.
Had both him and Major Altitude, really liked both figures. The copters were fun, too. This guy stood out as someone who was supposed to be an especially evil bad guy.
I've always loved this figure, his look and backstory fit perfectly with the original crew. Nice to see you like it as well.
90s month is a great concept. There were some awsome figures that came out of this era. There were also some stunningly bad figures from this era. Interrogator might be the best Cobra from the 90s. Wish he wasnt so overpriced on ebay.
I just got a complete one, however the tail on the copter is broken, I don't overly care about that, for 60 dollars. Is that overpriced? That doesn't seem too bad to me. You're not gonna fine rarer Joe's especially for cheaper than that complete with file card and everything.

This was one of my highest ranking Cobras even higher than Overlord. He is still one of my favorite figures and the first one I point out to 90s haters lol. As for the battle copter mine broke but not where you would think one day the rotor just flew off by itself lol. The only other one I had was the one with Heli Viper I just had to had to have him maybe its the Night Viper body

In war there's sometimes no good guys or bad guys. sometimes it's just ideas. And both sides do what necessary to win and get into and such.

one of my favorite figures as a kid. I always use to pretend he was a GiJoe in disguise. also that little copter was an awesome toy as well getting stuck on our roof multiple times

i was pretty much out of collecting at this point also, but still looked through items that were on the shelves. the interrogator is a buff character, not as buff as road pig or sgt. slaughter. the colors are great.i think if the copter gimick was dropped and interrogrator given a few more accessories this figure would have really "popped" out at ya. great job on a decent 90s figure. i gotta take away points for the copter gimick and lack of accessories. vehicle, vehicle, vehicle? dont you mean beetlejuice, beetlejuice, beetlejiuce
I wouldnt have mind seeing the Interrogator as a foot Soldier or even a low rank executive officer in Cobra. For he look like he been around since the star of Cobra vs G.I.Joe
Indeed. He seems like he'd be someone in the officer roster. In fact, now that the idea comes to me, a red variant of that uniform I could easily see working as a Crimson Guard officer.
Well considering in some fluff, Baroness was supposedly the first person to join Cobra, maybe he was the second?
I say that mostly based off of the "upper echelon" of Cobra, CC as the overall commander and guy who barks orders to the minions, Baroness as the intel and spec ops, Interrogator as the guy who processes captures and security risks, Scarface as the "get things done" guy, Dr. Venom as the RnD until Mindbender becomes a thing, and Big Boa as the trainer/ drill instructor. I won't name off Destro, Major Bludd, or any of the other named Cobra characters on the grounds they would have most likely have been late comers and/or mercenaries.
Well that's my theory anyway.
Great review, CobraCommander788 ! I don't recall seeing this figure, but it's a great one. I had a couple of G.I. Joe figures in the 90's (Barricade v.1 and Captain Gridiron). I think there are a few cool GI. Joe figures from 1990 to 1994, but, there weren't very many good ones in my honest opinion. I think the best years were 1984-1987. As the 90's started, I noticed that there weren't as many favorites between 1990-1994 that I liked. By 1995, I thought I had finally grew out of toys .It didn't last and I started collecting again in 1997.
No offence, but, to me, the best years of G.I. Joe were (the 13 running years of the original 3 3/4 Hasbro toyline) 1982 to 1994. 1994 was the right time for Hasbro to discontinue the line (and, coincidentally, they discontinued the line in the States *and* UK in 1994). It's *good* no new 3 3/4 figures were made in 1995, as there wouldn't have been any *good* ones then.
Take one Interrogator version 2 and give him Dr. Mindbender's head, cape, and weapons. Use multiple Interrogator version 1's as his personal assistants.
Fun review. I ended up with this figure later as after my disappointment with Major Altitude's Battle Copter I scored with Combat Pay at Thrifty's I had high hopes the thing would fly. The first time I tried to fly it the thing just toppled off the handle and hit the ground messing up the blades. I was really sad by that mishap and the lack of a Filecard on the box was a problem. I probably would have chosen this one over the Major had I known a little bit more of his story. A later trade with a buddy of mine got me the figure and its defiantly one of the best sculpts ever! There was a show that came out at the time the of Battle Copter's and showed deceptive practices in kids advertisements and there was a clip of them shooting the crew on the commercial installing motors on a battery inside!
Regarding your comments towards the end about only the bad guys having torturers, you put me in mind of a modern fantasy setting: Skyrim. There, things are much more grey. There are two sides, but both are morally compromised, engaging in torture, and with conflicting motives within each group for why they're doing what they're doing. I wonder how much of that reflects the moral certainties of the Cold War - at least in the 80s, when Vietnam had finished - and the much greater doubts expressed today about Western military interventions.
That is indeed a very cool figure. I imagine he is pricey.

I loved this figure! It would be nice to see it redone in the Classified line, without the Battle Copter. It would pretty awesome to troop build this figure. It looked sick.

Interrogator was indeed a nice looking figure. Good colour scheme, coupled with a sinister looking helmet. I can always see where one might even be inclined to use this guy as an "army builder", perhaps as some sort of elite "goon" team. Nevermind the fact that elite and goon probably don't go together. XD
Also, loved the Wayne's World style headbanging sequence added to the intro!
He's not an army builder. He's supposed to be a single guy like Wild Weasel, or Copperhead.

I wonder if I should care that the helicopter is broken for mine? Interrogator himself is in perfect condition. As is his gun and file card. I'd never really use the copter portion anyway. I just mean for completeness sake.
I wouldn't worry about it. Interrogator and the other Battle Copter pilots are way better than the battle copters.
The only reason to have a complete, unbroken Battle Copter is the investment angle of it.

Great review! He used the grabber on the bare chested Cobras? Guess he followed the motto "The beatings will continue until moral improves. I think most of the figures my son has are from the 90's. Do you plan on doing a review of Big Ben? He was one of my son's favorites.

Yeah instead of the interrogator angle and make him an individual they should have named him the Helo-Viper and he could pilot any Cobra helicopter.
I love individuals. There's too many army builders as there is. He's an awesome figure. You don't want him looking like other soldiers. He's his own unique guy.
Former IRS investigator!? By Crom he's even more evil than Cobra Commander himself! Not even the Joker tangles with those guys! But seriously, guy has an interesting angle with the whole techno hypnotism bit, something tells me that's the second thing he uses after the whole smooth talk angle, I imagine he has stages to his interrogations. With the apron for some reason I get the whole "he doesn't like to be dirty" vibe, maybe he's finicky or just plain weird like that. For all anyone knows maybe he likes butterflies and making cakes, wouldn't the first time Cobra hired a screwball.

Definitely Hasbro was running out of ideas for those times. The flying helicopter was a cool ideas but having a psychologist able to extract information only with talking to someone sitting on that bomb of time and using a flamethrower was not.

I was never a fan of this character (in fact, the *only* Battle Copter pilot I liked were 1992's Heli-Vipers). Not only were the vehicle drivers going downhill as of 1987, but especially as of the 90s.
