It requires careful planning and research, a delicate hand, and a lot of patience. As frustrating as it can be at times, the results are usually well-worth the effort. My biggest struggle is the patience aspect. To keep the ASMR fans and the others like us happy!
I read that with his voice 😂
@@Kilomylesco UA-cam is inherently exploitative. Just take each video and creator as they are. Ignore the stuff you don't like.
His voice is more ASMRish for me. I would love to know what each of the earlier steps were and how many hours this took from start to finish.
Me at 3 a.m.: i am not going to spend 41 minutes for this one, is too much time.
Me at 3:41: this. This was sublime. I wonder how he knows wich colors would match the painting. It is still a mystery.
I just love that there was no music! How truly enjoyable and very relaxing to watch
I'm such a nerd, I got excited by the fabric sheers. they are very nice and I am slightly jealous
You have a phenomenal eye for detail, it’s extremely satisfying to be able to witness. Thank you for your work and expertise and mastering this skill.
Watching you work is like watching the perfect execution of patience
Me: trying to figure out what hes doing even tho a narrated version will come soon while also contemplating if he has multiple cameras or if he walks in with the painting multiple times
I cannot imagine how much extra time it takes to place the camera/mics and edit the videos when your actual work already takes so much time. I hope you know how much your viewers appreciate it!
I love that while I'm watching this, I'm thinking, "Ah, yes, he's adding the paper to the front to protect the painting while he works on cleaning the back. That's exactly how I would have started" as if I know anything about conservation and restoration that I didn't learn from you and a few others on youtube. :-)
I was too.... LOL
At what point would you just say, "no, this is too far gone."! Or was this something to challenge your skills?
Greg He did one on st Marie and man I thought that was beyond repair, but he did a really great job
A pile of ash.is the too far point I'd say.
No words are necessary. No explanation even for those who are not the professionals is required ! Brilliant result!
Julian has such steady hands. 😄
Some really High Quality scratching, tearing, cutting and gluing.
The Surgeon of Art. 👍🏽
By far my favorite one to date. You did a spectacular job. Well done.
I need a man who respects, loves, and cares for me as this man does with art.
I thought I knew every step by heart but then he started making gelatin. What, why, how, I need answers!
It's napalm. 🤣😎
@@cedarwho7 I'm pretty sure napalm was used on the painting before this restoration 😅
me too lmfao i honestly did not expect him using that
oosajee I was searching in the comments of someone else noticed that gelatin mixing cup, found you thank you for the answer 🤣
watch the narrated version
wouldnt mind a detailed (colour and paint choice) explanation, so fascinating seeing you mixing colours and how flawlesly it looks to find the correct tones. :)
Kristoffer Halvorsen he speaks about it in narrated versions.
He has some specific colors as to make his work completely reversible
And uses simple colors and a heck ton of experience to mix them correctly,
But he will make a narrated version of this soon
Mari maeștri acești restauratori de opere de arta.Redau la viață aceste minunate picturi .Toată stima și admirația pentru munca minuțioase și răbdarea de care dau dovadă pentru repunerea în circuitul muzeal al acestor minunate lucrări. Bravo !
My first encounter with your channel, and it's 40 minutes of pure talent.
I'm subscribing.
... I clicked on the video and saw it was 45 minutes long... we have been blessed...
I watch these videos to go to sleep honestly, they are so soothing. I don’t even bother to skip ahead and frankly I watch them over and over again until new ones come out
That is a beautiful canvas strainer. Brings a happy tear to a framer's eye :')
I really missed your videos, they always interest me 😌 Happy 1st day of Summer everyone!
Shanette Quao That’s a wonderfully cheerful sentiment, and Happy first day of Summer to you too.
Happy second day of winter from Brazil!
Such a lovely comment is the second day of winter here in Chile but you have a great summer for all of us in the Southern Hemisphere!
Andrea Affonso de André good luck on the game today!
I was on the edge of my seat watching your beautiful restoration work. At the end, I almost cried. Damn, Julian...you are a master!
My soul left my body when he started scraping
To me the best part is you mixing the colors, it amazes me.
I find unnarrated video as calming and peaceful as the narrated ones. The styles work well together, because due to the narrated one, I can follow along on this quiet one. Lovely.
me trying narrate this myself : he's doing the thing with the tissue paper so he can do the other thing
i'll wait patiently for the narration
Here's the part where he scrapes the stuff off. Now he's putting new stuff on.
Amazing! You can’t even tell it was damaged at all! Stunning work.
Such a sensitive and incredible restoration. I take my hat off to you. What a perfect blend of science, craftsmanship and art.
I didn't even realize this video was 41 minutes long until I saw the comments. Amazing work - I can't believe you managed to patch it up so well!
Truly amazing restoration your attention to detail is inspiring to me im so happy i found your channel
Question: Have you ever messed up during the restoration of a painting throughout your career? If so, how did you fix it?
i always think about it during the video going
He has videos restoring other's restoration so...
He probably just fixed it
He paint on a different layer then the actual painting so he never actually messes up the original work.
In one of his videos he admitted to adhering a painting to on of his table once
This has got to be the most stress-inducing ASMR video ever and I am 100% here for it
