Yes, back then, you could use moonshine for gas in cars. Back in prohibition days, they had 'Moonshine Rummers', these were race cars specifically built to run on moonshine and outrun the police, originally Nascar was born from moonshine running. And yes, it was very violent back then and life was not valued at all, particularly in the midwest and my area, the south.
@@chrissiereacts You should watch White Lightning with Burt Reynolds and Ned Beatty. It was set in present day (1973) Arkansas, and bootlegging/blackmail/bribery was still going on. Much, MUCH less violent film!

I saw this film, loved it, and so bought the non fiction book it’s based off. Almost nothing that happens in the movie happens in the book. There’s no gunfights, no tangles with law enforcement or gangs, and there’s only one fistfight in the whole book. Basically it’s just a man nostalgically writing about his youth and the vanished world of bootlegging. I mean, it’s a fine book and well written, but I have no idea who read it and thought it’d make a great action film.
I love this film , so glad u watched it , Great reaction . All the actors in this film was brilliant , Master piece of a film . My fav quote is when tom hardy says " Its not the violence that sets a man apart its the distance he's prepared to go " So true
Pretty sure it's a version of "The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far is as needed?" which might be some kinda bible quote - I only know that because Billy Connolly says it in The Boondock Saints.
Nationwide prohibition in the US was from 1920 to 1933. After that some counties still enforced different forms of prohibition locally. Sometimes it was complete prohibition. Sometimes it would only allow alcohol sale/service on the weekends, etc.. . Beyond that, selling any alcohol without a license is illegal anyways. In certain situations crooked local law enforcement would turn their heads as long as the bootleggers gave them a cut of the money.
I would very highly recommend a Tom Hardy film from 2014 called The Drop, it also stars Noomi Rapace, and James Gandolfini (in his final film role). Everyone is amazing in it but Hardy puts in a performance that for me is even above his other roles, it really hits deep. If you are familiar with the writer Dennis Lehane it is based on one of his short stories.
Hey Chrissie, Another great reaction. I'm sure I've mentioned this before but another great movie with both screen play and composition by the One and Only Nick Cave. It also stars Guy Pearce the main actor. The "Proposition" Great cinematography Storyline Very underrated but a great movie none the less. Definitely worth reacting to. Enjoy
Pannus stomach occurs when extra skin and fat deposits hang from the stomach or belly area on the abdomen. It sometimes occurs after pregnancy or weight changes. The excess tissue from a previous body shape can hang down, varying in length and size.
Back in like 2009 I was walking through Albert Park (Melbourne) at 6am, on my way to work. I met Guy Pearce on the path by the lake; we were walking in opposite directions. As we approached each other, our brief conversation went like this: Me: "You have a dog." (which he did) Guy: "Yeah, I do." Me: "Just like everybody else." Guy (turning backwards to face me and with his voice slightly raised, as we had passed each other by now) "Just like everybody else." Weird moment. By rights, he should have just ignored me. can we please not make her cry though people 🧸 hehe - you should watch his passion project mini series called Taboo ⚓️ it’s got Stephen Graham from this is England too 🙏🏼
A great Shia movie is “Man Down”. Go into it blind and it’s a great movie imo. Not for everyone tho
I just watched this last week, check out OUT OF THE FURNACE with Christian Bale
Nice!
@@chrissiereacts Out Of The Furnace is also rough and gritty. Woody Harrelson plays an absolutely vile human being.
Top 5 tom hardy roles he is one of a kind when you have time check out sequel of once were warrors it is called what becomes of broken hearted it is not masterpiece as first part but it is pretty solid it showes development of jake the muss carachter and his change 👍
If you want another good prohibition movie I'd recommend the untouchables
The cops from Chicago have been called in to deal with the moonshine problem and the other guys forest is telling to pick a side are other moonshiners in the valley or something
But I think Guy Pearce is mob not cop?
@@chrissiereactsno ...his OFFICIAL title was DEPUTY Rakes. he was most definitely a lawman --- just non-deserving of the neither role, nor the title 🤷🏻♀️.....but, yes, a cop nonetheless.
Yes yes yes
So enjoyable, more pls 🙏
Busty...
Yes way! Alcohol is very flammable. It makes a very high octane fuel
I know you violence. .. but we got to understand what was before us so we can make a change.
When you need cheering up after these dark films can I suggest neon Joe werewolf hunter really quirky and funny as f*@k😊
This ia a Movie to hate Guy Piece, this maybe where it starts in hating Guy.
Quentin Tarantino has always had barefoot scenes in his movies. And Inglorious Basterds came out before Lawless.
Washing of feet was a thing in the Bible. 1..because they wore sandals. And 2, it symbolizes humility and Jesus' teachings of putting others before yourself. Here in this scene in the German Baptist church, it is, done as a ritual to remind them to put those traits into practice.
The Drop
Chrissie if you love Tom Hardy you really need to react to Peaky Blinders. He and Cillian Murphy own that show playing 1920's English gangsters.
@@ray.shoesmith ill have to agree with you on that, i think he's Alfie isn't he, soooo good!! 👌
@@metalheadsmurf2835 Alfie Solomons, and he had the best lines in the entire show imo
"I am the uncle, and the protector, and the promoter of that fcking thing right there, in whose shadow nothing good nor godly will ever fcking grow. That there, right, is the southern counties' welterweight champion. He is of mixed religion, therefore he is godless. He was adopted by Satan himself before he was returned out of fear of his awkwardness. But he's impossible to marry off due to his lethal dimensions. His mother, terrified, she's fcking abandoned him. And there he is, stood before you like the first of some brand-new fcking species! Any man that you put before him, right, it'd be like entering a fcking threshing machine, mate. Now, will you offer your son?"
@@ray.shoesmithAlfie Solomons yes that's right!! had some wicked lines for sure, reading your comment quoting his lines you even added right or right then after he said some outrageous comments lol but it was the way he said it, a little manic but being very serious, kind of need to know the character to know what I mean Lol
Washing of the feet is a great sign of humility in biblical times, especially, and Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, which was an outstanding display of humility by the sond of God. The practice is very spiritual and powerful in Christianity
I'd recommend you check out Fallout the series. It's VERY good
Ummm, you might want to look into why prohibition was enacted before for a lack of a better expression, pontificate. Just a suggestion.
Can you react to goodfellas?
My granddad got nabbed by the feds in the 20s, he was a graduate of Lwavenworth @ Kansas with the fed degrees in Moonshining and Poverty Studies that came with it.
Coal went into the toilet right after the war (WWI) so the depression came early to Appalachia. It was root, Hog, or moonshine,or starve.
you should check out blue ruin and green room
Please watch Filth with that James Macovoy or however you say it
BTW could you react to (Alien) the movie if you have not seen it before?
This director’s previous films are better. The Proposition (an Australian classic) and The Road
Terrifier for Halloween??
You want emotion? Have you seen Dead Poets Society?
Not yet!
@@chrissiereacts one of my all time faves. Robin Williams is great in it. Maybe even watch Awakenings with Robin Williams and Robert De Niro.
It's biblical, and liturgical Christ washed the feet of the Apostles.
7:00 its not weird, you are weird thinking its something sexual going on! at the last supper jesus washes all the disciples feet, to represent that his act of kindness and how he isnt above anything or anyone. get your mind out of the gutter.
No.
It certainly is weird, as is anything with religious connotations. And that ain't no blasphemin' 'cause if you look up the word in dictionary you will see that "weird" is defined as "suggesting something supernatural; unearthly".
Chrissie! Stop being mean 😢
Kes
Please. You won't regret it. It's consistently in critics top ten british films for good reason.
Go on. Be the 1st xxxx
hahaha I have a Patreon tier where you can request ANY movie of your choice and then all your dreams will come true ;)
@@chrissiereacts I can't afford patreon :-(
This is a dramatization of a true story
Hey Chrissie. Love your reactions to some movies most haven't checked out.
Since you enjoyed this, we would love your reaction to these:
- Public Enemies
- Live By Night
- Road to Perdition
Violent, she says. Don't let her watch a Quentin Tarantino film then.
In the Bible, Jesus washed his disciples' feet.
Did Trudeau ban Christianity?????
Tarantino comment, ouch cringe and tone deaf Chrissie. But we forgive you.
