- Toma Hardy playing twins truly is Legendary.
Legend is a 2015 biographical crime drama thriller film written and directed by American director Brian Helgeland. It is adapted from John Pearson's book The Profession of Violence: The Rise and Fall of the Kray Twins, which deals with their career and the relationship that bound them together, and follows their gruesome career to life imprisonment in 1969.
This is Helgeland's fifth feature film. Tom Hardy, Emily Browning, David Thewlis and Christopher Eccleston star with Colin Morgan, Chazz Palminteri, Paul Bettany, Tara Fitzgerald and Taron Egerton as well as the singer Duffy featured in supporting roles.
In the 1960s, Reggie Kray is a former boxer who has become an important part of the criminal underground in London. At the start of the film, his twin brother Ron is locked up in a psychiatric hospital for paranoid schizophrenia. Reggie uses threats to obtain the premature release of his brother. The twins unite their efforts to control a large part of London's criminal underworld, made easier when the head of the south London Richardson Gang (a.k.a. the Torture Gang) is imprisoned. One of their first efforts is to muscle-in on the control of a local nightclub, using extortion and brutal violence.
(4:08) She sat on 'the driver's side' because that's a Lincoln - an imported American car, with the driver's side on the left hand side.
if your on a Tom Hardy journey then "Lawless" is a must!
YES, the next one id suggest.
yeeeeeesssss indeed
Sometimes, reality is stranger than fiction real history adapted
His best by far.
THIS!!!!!
The bit I loved about this reaction was you learning that the Kray twins are real people and this really all did happen. Priceless.
@@HankD13 some bits happened, I am pretty sure some artistic licence was used
"Paranoid Schizophrenic walks into a bar..."
Fuck me that is such a good scene..
Taboo season 1.
Tom Hardy is exceptional in this mini series
It's on a Patreon poll right now. Will find out tomorrow if it wins!
The 'shootaaht' monologue, has to be one of my favourite Tom Hardy moments. Have you seen lawless? Hardy, pierce, labouef etc it's well worth a watch.
Lawless is highly under rated and never spoken about. Amazing film with amazing actors all round
@@beardedloon77 Screenplay and music by Nick Cave.
This is a great movie. Tom Hardy really gets to show off his acting chops in this one.
Personally i think the mini series called Taboo is my fav Hardy content. Supposedly 2 more "seasons" coming also after the long hiatus.
Crazy how few people know about Taboo.
Taboo is amazing
Wait what, there is more?
I have watched them all so many times.
You’re forgiven. You were spot on with the little Bronson story at the end. The Drop with James Gandolfini is worth a reaction.
8:14 - Hate to break it to you Chrissie, but your eyes lit up and twinkled when Reggie bit the guy's ear off. 😆
lol Chrissie enjoyed that a little too much😆
He did a great job of making two completely different characters
According to some stories, just as Ron shot George Cornell in the pub, the song "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" started playing on the jukebox.
Whether it happened or not, I've always thought it would've made a nice touch.
The woman singing is Duffy. She’s an actual artist, one of her best songs worth checking out is Warwick Avenue. Quality song, love the content and wishing you well from England🏴🇺🇸
Horrific what happened to her 😔
Locke - entire film of Hardy driving & talking to a phone. That's it. Its superb.
Agree. Love it.
Really doesn't feel like an hour and a half of a man in a car. Shows his pedigree in my opinion
Great film, but not sure it'd make a great reaction due to the setup - definitely worthwhile watching though.
@@wulfgold maybe not on here. Although I'd pay the patron to see the full film reaction without a doubt
@@jakemorrison8507 most certainly worth seeing it - incredibly tense and I really like the setup.
Locke is amazing. Very very few actors can do that part.
Not sure you could react to it though
My grandfather did business with the krays in the 60s. Apparently they were incredibly polite when they met, and greeted my mother, in a pushchair, and ronnie gently shook her hand. Sure they were terrible people who did terrible things, but they oftentimes showed great kindness and politeness to the ordinary people.
That’s a cool story brother RIP to him if he’s gone otherwise if not wish him the best
Doug and Dinsdale Piranha were based on the Krays. An earlier film was The Krays (1990) starring Billie Whitelaw as the mother and the Kemp brothers from Spandau Ballet as the Kray twins.
Spikey Norman.
I have to say the cheeky look on your face during the, um, punishment scenes spoke volumes lol
Absolutely sparkling reaction!
Lived in East London in 1966-1969 as a child. The Krays were celebrities back then and very popular, local boys made good. They were always in the newspapers photographed with film stars, TV stars and pop singers. They came from Bethnal Green, 3 miles from where we lived at the time. At seven years old it all for the most part went past me unnoticed, but my mum thought of them the same as all the other celebrities in London at the time.
The Krays were real as was Bronson - Tom Hardy is an acting Legend
If you like this movie you would probably like Gangster No 1. Made in the 2000s and had that stylish 60s British aesthetic. You'll find a lot of the same actors as well.
Cool movie. Tom is a talented boy. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend The Drop. Hardy is awesome and understated and James Gandolfini is tragically brilliant.
Underrated movie.
Great movie. Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, and the late great James Gandolfini were all awesome in that movie.
Imported American cars were a big status symbol back in the 60s.
Ahhh! Thank you :)
@@chrissiereacts thinking about it - they probably still are a status symbol now, but you'd have to be relatively wealthier then than now to import a US car.
The car in the movie is a Ford Galaxie 500.
I've seen this film many times.. own it on special edition blu ray(never been opened) honestly never noticed the cars until watching this 😅
@@PeterMoore66 left hand drive in Aus is rare, ive seen a few firebirds and maybe 1-2 Cadillac's
The krays were synonymous with all things American, Hesse the cars they wanted to make the east end a British Vegas by owning the bars and clubs they had
Locke is a underated film basically he is the only actor you see all movie, personally i think it's Tom Hardy's best performance completely different from his usual roles and well worth watching.
You should try Martina Coles The Take with Tom Hardy. 4 part mini series. Brilliant !
Did you notice the magic lemon sherbet? He crunched it to get to the sherbet but then suddenly it was whole again. 😂
Taboo is a good tv show with Tom Hardy
Two 0f my cousins were psychiatric nurses at Broadmoor prison. One of them had ronnie as a ‘client’ (thats what they call their patients in broadmoor). He liked Ronnie but he was completely unpredictable.
The twins turned up on my grandads street in london once trying to give away a truckload of stolen ‘haute couture’ dresses. My grandad and the head of one of the other families in the borough went down and ran them off. They were quite reasonable with non-gangsters.
My grandad knew charlie quite well and asked him to make sure nothing like that ever happened again and it never did. The krays respected the power of the families. Those families werent criminal (well maybe one or two members) but if it came to a confrontation those families could call one or two hundred men into the streets and most of them were war veterans, trained amateur boxers or better and generally big men who didnt mind losing teeth in a fight. The krays could never call on that type of force so they kept in line when it came to upsetting the families.
Also, the twins both got kicked out of the army for stealing - they spent most of their time in the army in military prisons - which didnt endear them to most people who had families full of veterans, disabled veterans, and family members lost in the wars. Charlie was respected but the twins really werent.
All that died out in london in the 60s and 70s as all the younger members of the families moved out and immigrants moved in. Back then though the families kept the peace in the boroughs. Gangsters could fight each other but if you did something bad you wouldn’t get a visit from the police, youd get a visit from local elders and family members and that might involve a hiding.
What makes that knife attack even worse (27:38) is the knife would still have had lemon juice all over it. That would really sting...
🤣
@@chrissiereacts or the fact the blood was still vissable many years later
You should watch Taboo, a 2017, 8 part period drama set in 1814 with Tom Hardy, him and his father wrote it. It's excellent.
I agree
Essential for any Hardy fan is BBC/Netflix Peaky Blinders. A feature film is about to be released too.
He's in that?? I had no idea.
@@chrissiereacts He sure is and he is brilliant in it. So is Cillian Murphy and the whole cast more or less. That show starts a bit slow but it gets INCREDIBLE.
Crazy thing is they are still well known around here. Thousands turned out for the funeral of Reg. Legend is a fitting name for the movie. The car is probably an American import. Good reaction.
They're dead dogs and abusers of young boys well known fact by everyone who knew them 😂 fan boi
Its funny how the krays are always shown as being the top badmen of this era, but if you actually know the crime scene of this time the Richardson gang was the more feared
Watch Taboo , its a great tv series in which Tom is the lead actor but he also wrote it along with his father. Its absolutely brilliant
This!!
@pepeleperth its fantastic isnt it from the writing to the cinematography its beautifully done.
Lawless is another one based on a true story and is amazing. I know folks who were in the profession and they loved the movie and books.
Good movie.Tom Hardy is great as always. I think “ The Krays” (1990) is the better movie but Hardy is more believable as Ronnie/Reggie Kray. If you like British crime movies, I would recommend “Get Carter” (1971) with Michael Caine or “The Long Good Friday” (1980) with Bob Hoskins, both are classics of the genre.
You seem to like raw energy, so please consider Romper Stomper 1992 (Russell Crowe) or Bad Boys 1983 (Sean Penn).
Fark id forgotten about that movie.
Luv "Romper Stomper"! "Skinhead, Skinhead getting really pissed........🎵🎶🎼"
I can't wait to see Chrissies reaction to Wolf Creek
Tom Hardy is a great actor.
Really then why doesn't he challenge himself by playing other roles
Instead of tough guys all the time,
Bronson, bane. Warrior, lawless legend. Capone, all tough guys roles. Why no. Musical dramas by the great actor,
Or no comedy's by the great actor,
Cause he can only play tough guys
So enjoyable watching this with you, Chrissie. Thank you, darlin'!
🥪🤗
When I watched this, I had no idea he had played both roles. Months later, someone told me he had, & initially, I thought 'surely not!' 😄
Surely so, and don't call me Shirley
Another Tom Hardy movie I always liked is "Lawless." It has Shia lebouf as well. It's about a family of moonshiners
I've heard great things. High on my list!
I don’t think it’s been mentioned before but a really great Tom Hardy film which doesn’t get anywhere near the love it should is The Drop.
The take!! Favourite TH performance its based on a martina cole book about 80s gangster familly its a 3 part series origanly on tv, pretty dark but a must see
Whoa Chrissy, you had a glorious yet somehow disturbing grin at the ear bite
Your expressions during the bar brawl scene were priceless! I watched that bit 3 times laughing my arse off! Still loving the content Keep ‘em coming
You are hands down the best UA-camr that i have on my channel and this reaction is of course another great one!! Much luv from one of your fans across the sea here in Ireland, have a great new month and i hope this September is a wonderful one.
Thank you! 🥰🥰
The Krays (1990) with Martin + Gary Kemp definitely worth a watch as well 👍
Yes it's excellent
My Nan and grandad lived Just down the road from the Richardsons. My old grandad dressed just like this film and looked like he could sit perfectly into this film, hands like shovels
There was a movie back in the 90s that was filmed call the krays and it went a lot deeper in to the lifes of them
Taboo the series is also a must watch. Unfortunately there's only 1 season, but it's a good one. 😊🎉
I'm kind of surprised you hadn't heard of them before - when you said at the end 'wait, this was a real story?'. There's been a few films about them, but yeah, real. Often cited as the reason the mafia never took off in London/UK due to these pair.
Hey Chrissie, I’m happy you’re enjoying Tom Hardy’s work. He’s quite an excellent actor. Thanks ever so much for sharing your thoughts on this movie.
Tom Hardy made a TV series called Tabboo. It’s set in the 1800s and is most definitely worth a watch, even if it’s just for your own enjoyment. It’s dark, grimey a little spooky and his character is so well suited for his skills. Overall great cast and an unusual story to boot.
Looking forward to your next reaction and wish you a glorious day. 😊
Hey gorgeous! There is this really underrated movie with Tom Hardy called Locke. The entire thing takes place in a car and Tom is the only actor physically in the movie. It's an unusual concept but it's executed really well and Tom really gets to show his acting chops. Highly recommend
Yep true story. Also, remember Bronson? He actually knew The Kray Twins, Reggie at least, they were in the same prison. And Tom Hardy played them all 😉🙂
Very cool!
One of my favourite people on UA-cam. Your reactions are fantastic 👏
If you're looking for a little more Tom Hardy but a completely different performance...I highly, highly recommend 'Locke'
Like a few people have mentioned on these comments my favourite Tom Hardy movie is Lawless. Also a great performance from Shia LaBeouf .
@24:15. I always pick that up. Charlie was talking about the floods 😅
14:45 that was such a brotherly fight lmao
Glad you're enjoying the cinematography, Chrissie. It's by a nice chap I actually know - Dick Pope BSC.
I always liked this movie for lots of good reasons (Tom Hardy and rest of the cast, and the storytelling quality) but I always felt it didn't quite understand where all this violence and desperate crime came from. It came from poverty. No one had any money in east London or in any major British inner cities in those days. So, for instance, the young woman might have wanted to run, but she simply couldn't or, indeed, wouldn't know how to.
This Hardy vehicle is actually a bit of a remake of a smaller movie from 1990 which I actually prefer to this, mainly because that movie absolutely did get it.
For instance, there's a great scene at the heart of the 1990 movie where one of the Kray's mother's own "circle" (an aunt I think, if memory serves) delivers a bitter monologue about "men". I haven't seen that movie for years so I might have to watch it again!
Emily Browning, who plays the role of Frances, was born here in Melbourne Australia.
My man's importing the right American cars
They only made one season which is sad but you would love Taboo. Great TV show that got sidelined by Covid I believe.
My father in law was in the prison service and dealt with the Krays and Bronson in his career.
Every Londoner I've ever met "their uncle hung around with the Krays" 😂
For an example of how good he can be, check out Hardy in the movie Locke. It's about a man balancing 3 major life changes on the phone and under stress whilst it's all shot with just him driving at night on a freeway.
Antony star plays twins like this in outrageous fortune. Not a bad watch if you're interested
literally in my top 5 movies all time
yep this is true story and gangsters was more know as The Firms in the uk and they was tended to be loved by there community as they often put money back into the community like the Kray twins in this move donated money to a ton of things like Repton Boys Club a boxing club, the fighting tended not to spill over into the public and was often against each other
When you have space for a new show Boardwalk Empire is really good with some amazing characters. It's set in the 1920s and the prohibition era gangsters Al Capone and the like
Stunning Stephen Graham performance too.
That show made me drink so much more, same with Mad Men
One of my relatives used to know their brother Charlie Kray(I didn't even know there was another brother). She was telling us about her times in London and Charlie came up. They used to go out to one of the clubs owned by the Krays, and he often offered to have one of the lads walk the girls home to ensure they got back safe. She said he would say "Make sure my girls get back home safe" and they would think "Your girls?". she still has some Christmas cards from the Kray family 😂
They were legends in their own right but they were a pair of bullies end of , they are the in the best place they can be , 6 feet under !
Stuart. A life backwards. Tom is Unbelievable in this and it's one of his first movies
I'll be watching tonight after work; it's always fun to watch with you, Chrissie. You should see the 1990 film, The Krays. These two films balance each other out quite nicely, the 1990 film being far more sinister and hinting at the paranormal. You are very cute and sweet. 🥰😘🤭 xxx
Can’t believe you thought this was fiction. Even after you mentioned Bronson. 🙃 As another comment to you said… The Krays, by The Kemp bros (spandau ballet) is far better. Billie Whitelaw steels the show as Violet Kray. x
Also cars then had bench seats and people used to just slide across
You should definitely watch Locke.
Is Tom Hardy's best movie in my opinion.
For sure will watch! I'm super intrigued with the concept.
@@chrissiereacts the krays 1990 is a better film it stars Gary and Martin Kemp as real life twins. Ron and reg kray ,
Seriously it's a much better movie. Check it out
@chrissiereacts I look forward to it 😄
The people saying to watch Taboo aren't wrong either, you'd likely really enjoy that.
I'm related to the Krays, they were a different breed for sure.
Are there any more brown hatters and nonc3s in the family?
the book on the kray twins is excellent as well
Great! Thanks Chrissie!😊
G'day mate. in Australia and in England we drive the opposite to America
Damn, I can't believe you just called me stupid 😂 That's the whole point of my comment. That's why it was so weird that wasn't the case in this movie. Others have explained that this was an imported American car and that's why the steering wheel was on the "North American" side.
FunFact- Ron n the Yorkshire Ripper were in the same prison-hospital, +got in a fight, so Reggie put a hit on him. They only managed to take 1eye out.
Ripper di3d of cov!d during its first round.
Hey Chrissie - You should check out the 1990 "The Krays" film with Martin and Gary Kemp as the brothers, for me always feel like the better film but probably due to familiarity more than anything as Tom Hardy's performance is brilliant. Funnily enough I drove past The Blind Begger (The London Pub in the film where Ronnie Kray murdered George Cornell in full view of witnesses) yesterday as down in London for a work meeting.
You forget he's fighting himself in the club brawl scene 😂
HUUUUUUURRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, good reaction 😂 a suggestion I never see many people watch it but I've watched a lot of your videos and think you might like it "Into the wild"
Woo chrissie upload means a fantastic day!! 🎉🎉
This was the first time rickey introduced Karl to the world
Some of us Brits would say "Smash the granny out of you" which can also refer to an term for fighting.
" knock the granny out of you" has to be the original idiom(it also means other things in which it is useful to check out)
Pretty top. Great performance by Hardy
Yes it is based off the Kray twins true story, but it is tweaked like most movies like this
The club singer is "Duffy", she had a short stint in popularity in the British charts in the 2000s I think, she could of made it a bit further in her singing career but I think the was always in the shadows of Amy Whitehouse (similar genre of music), as Amy become more known internationally.
Duffy was never fully comfortable with her rise to fame. She took a hiatus from music shortly after her second album in 2010 due to a terrible traumatic experience where she was abducted, drugged, flown to another country and raped. Her involvement in Legend marked her return to music as well as acting, but she never returned to the spotlight full-time.
@@gdarmo really? I think I remember something like that, forgot about it obviously. That's a shame as I think she is good.
The Kray twins have been subject to previous coverage - and parodied by Monty Python - as the Pirrahana Brothers
They were a family this is a true story, and she didn't sit in the drivers side it's the UK are staring wheels are on the other side of the car
Look at the pinned comment babe xx
You forgot “The Parent Trap” for films with one actor playing two. 😂
Oh yeah! I've never actually seen it lol
'like a western!!'
You need to do American history X, awesome film and would love to see your reaction to it
Now for something completely different, Tom Hardy in TABOO. Its based on a man being dead................. see what you think Chrissie
You’ve not heard of Duffy the singer? Wow.
"Stuart. A life backwards" is another good Tom Hardy movie
My favorite scene is where Frances (Emily Browning) blows breath into Reggie, because he said she's "...breathtaking".
Yes! It was in my original edit but the video kept getting blocked and I had to cut so much out. But yeah I loved it too!
