- here we have part 1 of my sunroof repair, ITS finally open! what a relief! stay tuned to part 2 where i put it back together with new cables and seals from wolfsburg west, Thanks again to VW Life for choosing me as the winner for the 5000 subscriber contest, as a $100 gift certificate was issued and used for this project!

Nice that you were able to save the headliner in one piece. I like how you take your time and study it out before you start ripping it apart. Can't wait to see the sunroof in action. Come on part 2!
That was the biggest relief of the job was saving the headliner piece! You know where i get it from... Like you taught me. If it was put together. It can be taken apart. Of course it's always a little easier when you can watch someone else do it first, and then maybe make some improvement for your own situation. Thanks pops

Sunroof design is really cool! Can’t wait for part 2 and way to go saving that headliner! I thought the blackberries in milk was a weird thing only my family did! 😂 one year we picked 17 gallons of them on my parents property! Mom freezes them every year and then about December starts making blackberry pies and having black berry “cereal” 👍yum

E-man Deluxe Mine is missing that headliner piece, not sure if I can buy that for a 73. And it slides open without the handle and gear in place. I bought a project car....Your videos are all good!!
You should be able to come across one, hunt one down. Samba or swap meet. Thanks for the compliment
It's not that hard, believe me I was in your place a few years ago with my 65 sunroof. .I made a sunroof demo video on my channel.

Great video bro ! I've been working on my 66 Chevy c10 since April. Got it running and on the streets. So I'm getting back to my 65 sunroof! I had it outside of my garage for the first time in months. Now I need some motivation and here I am ! I'm playing catch up I'll be watching your part 2 soon as I get done with this.
So awesome to hear. Love the Chevy. I've been having so much fun driving misty around,but need to also get back to work on her to finish some things up. Try to make some vids. Would love to see brother
unfortunately mine were all apart before I got the car. those are so hard to get right I spent a week on each of them just working on the sunroof. a few hours a day because i would start to get frustrated. then try again then again and again and again then finally after I dont know how many times I got it to work.
I hear you there. I did the same. But I know you were also fighting the headliner which I can imagine adds huge to the frustration. Your video helped me with mine so thank you
@@EmanDeluxeVLOGS yea the second one had some other issues too. Was in worse shape than yours. thank god you had the adjustments right in the beginning before you took it apart and the sunroof had no rust.
@@Mikefngarage now that it's getting cooler in the evening. We open and close regularly and it operates so well!

Its a beatiful thing! Taking the back roads wasting time!
No need to remove the interior panel, just slide it to the rear of the car once the clips are unfastened, per the Bentley manual.

I own a beetle 1966 with metal sunroof. Where can I find all the hardtop hardware.
I would try Wolfsburgwest.com or do a search on samba.com in the classifieds. I've had great luck finding all kinds of hard to find items on there

My 1970 beetle sunroof is stuck closed and has been sitting for 15 years until I bought it. Any tips on how to get her unstuck ?
Hey, thanks for the comment. Mine would only open a few inches when I first got it. Can you try to get a little movement from the crank? The first thing the sunroof does is the backup the sunroof drops down maybe have an assistant push it down while you gently try to give it a crank. Give Slade VW channel a shout on you tube. He has worked on a couple now and may have another video also. Hope it helps cheers

Question is a 74 std beetle sunroof the same as yours. Check out my 74 beetle video. Has $ 350 9n the thumbnail. Is mine the same as yours. Let me know. I will rebuild mine with you, if they are the same
