Thank You So Much!
In this quick video I intro our upcoming Metal Sunroof Headliner Installation and I briefly discuss the metal rails that get installed in the sunroof. Painted? Or Leave it Polished Metal?
Your thoughts?

Excellent! Doing my 64 sunroof soon. Thanks Chris
Great video as always Chris!! Love your videos man!! You helped me all the way with my 56 Ragtop.
Chris/Eric-the ‘67 Sunroof beetle I purchased from you is almost together! It’s only been 4 years. I did the headliner in beige SewFine tweed and it went very well. As far as painting the sliders.......nah.....don’t do it. You will never keep the sliders from scratching the paint off. And the aluminum can easily be polished if it becomes hazy.
Excellent man! Great to know. Can't wait to see your bug all done.
Very cool preview of your much more in-depth video that is coming out. Amazing how much Wolfsburg West has been adding to their catalog. and 1967beetle.com is a great resource
Thanks!
Great informative video thanks
Don't forget to talk about the different front lifters of metal sunroofs. From the bug circle knobs to the later Phillip screw type!
Funny you mention, I have neither for this bug. I have the sliders that attach to the knobs, but no knobs.
@@classicvwbugs from the video, it looks like you have the late sliders (3 screws). If so, you don't need the knobs. Another difference is that the earlier sunroof panels need the knobs, but later sunroofs have the actual metal of the sunroof panel raised where the knobs used to go. So the sliders attach to the knobs for early and the sliders attach to the actual sunroof for later. I have late sliders but early sunroof panel, so I need the knobs!
@@jeffreygomez7694 Hmmm something I need to look at then. I have the sliders and they have two spots to have screws pass through them, that then also look to need that circled nut in order to have the roof raised up enough to be level with the roof. Do you have a pic you can show me of the later setup?
@@classicvwbugs I emailed you. Is it chris@classicvwbugs.com?
Does anyone knows where I can get those sunroof sliding rails? My 68 doesn’t have it.
hey chris! great video for those are DIY fixing sunroof, keep it up!, would like to ask if the baywindow ('71) has a different center plastic cover piece or is has the same as the beetle center plastic cover?
A bay window bus? I'm not sure, I do not work on those.
Are sunroofs from 64 to 72 the same? Can I use 71,72 sunroof mechanisms for a 64 or 65 sunroof? Thanks
I mean the metal sunroofs for beetle. Thanks
Not sure, I would look up the parts on say wolfsburgwest.com and see, they will break down the year changes if there are any.
@@classicvwbugs thank you Chris!
What was the last year for the cloth sunroof?
