1965 VW Beetle Sunroof Seal Replacement!

In this video we will be replacing the three seals in sunroof of my 1965 Volkswagen Beetle. We will also be getting the cable mechanisms working properly so the sunroof pops up into the correct position.

Thanks for posting this and showing the different parts of the sunroof. I think your gray felt seal may be backwards, the bead faces into the opening of the sunroof. #M 90 sprayed into a small container then brushed on is supposed to work good and dries clear, I think. For future reference, the Bentley manual says you don't have to remove the interior panel, it just slides all the way to the rear of the car so you can access everything.

I really didn't have a problem I use 3m spray glue, I have a very snug fit I didn't remove the sunroof I didn't tape off either I probably should have as I have a new paint job but did get a big chip on roof recently probably a rogue rock I ordered paint of course. I use goof off on the overage worked excellent I painted the glue on with a brush and sprayed the strip first let it set a minute then I painted the metal.

I'm following your video now. I wanted to comment about the front drain. It goes into the chassis and collects causing the door pillers to rust out. JBugs has a replacement piller bottom you can order. You had to take out the whole sunroof To replace the seal . But you had more issues . Do you think I need to take the sunroof out to do the seal ?? . Thank you for the video This was extremely helpful

I really can’t remember, but I think if you’re just doing the seal, then you might be able to leave it in
