Always good to see a video about Plo. I actually think he could make for an interesting animated series, starting when he was a youngling and working for his padawan trials. So maybe the series could start when he was around 8 or 9 human years? Then evolve into his knighthood and becoming a master. There could be a shit ton of content to make him into his own animated series, or even a non animated series.
Plo "Electric Judgment" Koon was such a Awesome character. I was glad we got to see the bit we did in clone wars. From what I heard, Lucas didn't want individually centered episodes for the other Jedi characters of The Clone Wars after season 1. There were a couple here and there, but there should have been more. He wanted to keep it centered around Kenobi, Skywalker and Tano. Shame because I loved some of those other episodes.
They turned Fisto from a slimy green ugly fish into a complete badass in episode 10. Both Koon and Fisto are hands down the most popular “side” jedi from the prequels and it’s easy to see why. Shame both of them were so unceremoniously killed off.
I don't know why I love Plo Koon so much but I do. He seems like a very reasonable person, and jedi sometimes are a little extreme. He was very powerful too.. and look cool!
Wow. So...that title was a bit misleading. I was interested in learning about an actual DUEL between Yoda & Plo Koon at one point. I wanted to know why that happened and how he beat Grand Master Yoda.
It happened because it was a sparring match, eg a training match or one just for fun. Plo won because his style was much better suited for the fight than Yoda's and plo is a strong enough Jedi to not be overwhelmed by Yoda's pure strength. Yoda is no doubt stronger but due to their styles Plo Koon would win in a fight.
@@edburt9067 just because he won a “sparing session” doesn’t mean his style or form would beat Yoda’s. One this was outside major canon so it’s debatable, but even if it’s not, it was a sparring session. If Yoda and Koon went all out, Yoda would crush him easily. I feel only Mace Windu is the only Jedi that is on that next tier level of duelists and force wielder. And that’s no diss against the power of Plo
Plo koon has been my favorite jedi of the republic era and second favorite overall since I play jedi battle and had his figure with the yellow lightsaber. He is the reason why if I had a lightsaber it would be yellow (god I hat Rey has one that’s just Disney trying to make her more unique and it sloppy as hell) anyway even with him being my favorite I’m still learning more and more about him. Thanks man please keep it coming
I always wish we got to see more in lore behind the scenes kind of stuff. Like characters are always in a battle or doing something with the plot but it would be cool to see everyone in their down time like Jedi dueling in the temple and clones talking in the barracks that kind of thing.
Really wish in canon they would have kept his yellow lightsaber he had in Legends. While yellow tends to be the color for Sentinels I actually believe Plo Koon fits a Sentinel more than a Guardian. Guardians tend to be singularly focused on combat and while Plo Koon was a terrific swordsman he also was wise, and an exceptional pilot. I think given his background personality he would want to broaden his knowledge of the Force, combat but also non-Jedi related skills. Just my thought.
Plo Koon was my favorite Jedi since the Jedi Power Battles game on Play Station. I’m thoroughly enjoying all the love he’s gotten the past few years 😂😂😂
I really enjoy the internal consistency of this structure. It is very real in the way that each specialty has its wekness in another one and even the most proficient users have their kryptonite.
I'm fairly certain that Obi-Wan also used Ataru as a Jedi Knight. He only really ditched the form to some degree when he lost his duel against Count Dooku. He began to focus on Soresu so that he would never be beaten in that manner again. Of course he still gets rag dolled in Ep 3, but still. At least he didn't lose another saber duel after that lol
It was smart of them to execute Plo Koon while he was mid ship travel. I like to believe that Order 66 was done at the most opportune time regarding every single jedi and their current activities
So a practice session is not a duel. Pissed me off that they killed him the way they did. Bunch of BS he should have survived Order 66 and survived period. Plo Koon was awesome.
@@edburt9067 He certainly could and should have. The dude could survive in the vacuum of space for a while so crashing a ship shouldn't be fatal. Pissed me off when they "killed" him. So many of the Jedi Masters went out like punks it was pathetic. They should have at least had them kick some ass before the died.
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast was one of the best SW games I've ever played. There was acrobatics like running on walls and you could use 3 different sabre styles. Really underrated.
So imagining PK ejecting his ship to deflect oncoming fire, force crushing a ship, throwing it into another, landing on a nearby ship whilst failing then stabbing it’s pilot before his death really doesn’t sound too far fetched. >_
I believe Ahsoka not only does this because she prefers the form due to her dual-sabers, but also because of Plo as it's mentioned in Clone Wars season 1 that Plo Koon is who brought her to the temple.
Ataru was the first form to incorporate dual-wielding of lightsabers, given the aggression in attack. Ahsoka used to practice Shien, and then utilized a second shoto saber in the off-hand.
I had an idea for what might have occured if Plo Koon had been on Coruscant during Sideous' revelation to Anakin: Plo would probably not have moved to arrest Palpatine the way Windu did. That was far too rash, and gave Palpatine the final piece of ammunition he needed to condemn the Jedi, as well as forced Anakin to choose between the Jedi and his wife. That was a bad move. Plo would have been much more tactical I believe he had the empathy that Windu lacked to be able to sense the deep turmoil within Anakin. Windu's problem is that he was sure of himself to the end, always was focused on things in the distance, like the enemy, and not the people around him like Anakin. Master Plo would stay with Anakin and counseling and reassuring him, keeping him from Sideous while putting his faith in Anakin to help him take charge of securing the safety of the Jedi Temple. He would be treated like a Master. Together they would have put all Jedi on notice, preparing for an attack. They would secretly contact trusted allies - the faithful senators at the head of the Delegation of 2000. Particularly Padmé Amidala, Mon Mothma, and Bail Organa, who alone, would be informed of the full situation, and instructed to petition the Senate to revoke Palpatine's emergency powers immediately. They would, of course, be gaurded by reliable Jedi the entire time, reassuring Anakin of Padmé's saftey. This motion from the senate would give the Jedi the ammunition they needed should Palpatine refuse or delay, especially when backed by the support of the Delegates - though it would also move the timetable up on his plan, making him more hasty and eager - Especially when combined with his prolonged seperation from Anakin after their prior confrontation and Anakin's declaration to oppose Palpatine - which would cause Palpatine to begin to suspect that the Jedi had begun their own plot, and go into meditation in order to uncover it. The timer would essentially be how long the slow-moving Senate would take to come to a decision. In this time, neither side would want to strike for risk of making an error, revealing their hand, or falling to the other side's yet unknown trap. It would essentially be a standoff - a game of chicken perhaps. How long is the other side willing to postpone their strike? Will they pull the trigger on their plan first? The first to strike doesn't necessarily win, but waiting is equally risky. With these events, the balance begins to shift towards the Light's favor. Palpatine loses insight through the Force while the Jedi gain it. He tries to discern the future, but the balance is ever shifting, and destiny rapidly flickers between outcomes. He would be stunned by the cloudiness he hasn't experienced for many years, and lose track of the situation, still trusting that he will be able to see through the veil. And this would perhaps create enough time for the Jedi to regroup slightly, which may give Yoda and Obi Wan the time they needed to complete their objectives, or at least stabilize the situations (Yoda's campaign on Kashyyk was a bit more complicated), and if the two of them were able to return, even only briefly to attend to the emergency, it would be over for Palpatine, as Anakin, Obi Wan, Yoda, Plo Koon, Mace Windu, and Kit Fisto would all abruptly move to arrest Palpatine for his treason - beating Palpatine to the punch. By the time he sensed it, it would be too late. His plan was extremely time-sensitive from the start, and Master Plo's patience, tactics, and faith in Anakin would fatally disrupt that time-table.
I hope to god that they bring plo koon back. There is a slight chance he could have maybe survived the impact in his starfighter with a lot of bad wounds of course, and I would so love to see him again since he had so little screen time overall
I mean if they bring Rey back for a new set of movies they could maybe have her learn force judgement to curb the dark side lightning from a mysterious figure who happens to be a survived plo koon
@@ZoeyAlexandria Gods I hope not. She could have been a good character but the writers and directors made sure that she wasn't going to. Until they retcon the sequel trilogy and try again from scratch I don't want to see more of rey. Imagine a movie where we follow a Jedi training at the Jedi Temple, actually going into detail, seeing what life was like for a Jedi. Yes we have some idea what life was like and the rules they had to follow but I peronally think it would be something cool to see in detail.
Great video. Similar to why Kenobi got the better of Anakin. Outside of Anakin’s overconfidence, styles and forms make fights. They could face common opponents (like Dooku) and Anakin would look much more impressive but Kenobi knew all his moves and could keep it close enough to take advantage of Anakin’s weaknesses when the opportunity presented itself (overreaching for the High Ground).
So plo Koon improved form 3 by adding and thinking of how he can characterize form 3 making it his own, like most other jedi, and it just suited well with him just as yoda work best with him

I got form 1. Form 3 is Obi wan's form and it focuses more on defense. Form 1 is about disarming not killing and usually meant for multiple opponents. I’d say that after he killed dooku he would’ve been able to kill kit fisto and mace, maybe even yoda. Because dooku has the potential to body all of those guys.
The in lore explanation for being shot down is that Palpatine knew he would be a grave threat and as such specifically had him killed when in a fighter

Anakin calling Plo Koon his equal reminds me of how Britain viewed Horatio Nelson. Anakin was defeated by Yoda, Plo Koon DEFEATED Yoda. Anakin's response? "Oh wow, this guy is as good as me!" Nelson was good, but did suffer losses in his career and was brought up in the Navy. Admiral Yi Sun Sin, on the other hand, was trained in warfare on land, was undefeated despite being outnumbered (sometimes as many as 25 to 1), and basically stopped the Japanese invasion of Korea when no other Admiral or General could. British sources said he was "possibly" Nelson's equal.
@@daddystamkos5900 you don't know whether he was trying or not, same with yoda. I'd have to find it again and I don't care enough because yoda was 900, not much beats that kind of experience other than connection to the force and plo wasn't like anakin so objectively its obvious who is better.
But if Yoda wanted to kill PLO koon he could. A friendly duel can't tell the truth, you have to want the blade to actually hit yo opponent to tell the truth. Having watched the OT probably hundreds of times from childhood I truly believe that Lucas did not originally envision Yoda ever having been a Lightsaber wielding warrior. People would naturally respond to that by going on endlessly about oh but the clone wars and the prequels, etc. but all of that stuff was added after the original trilogy was made. Speaking specifically only of the way the character was portrayed in the original trilogy, I think Lucas intended him to not need to be a physical jumping and running warrior at all. He is an unassuming Buddha-like character with mastery of the force itself not needing to use any physical skills for combat. I have read the well written explanations here about him being very old, having lost his light saber in the battle with Sidious, etc. but I think this is ignoring the original point of the character. Originally I truly don’t believe the character was intended to have fought with a Lightsaber. Lightsabers just became so immensely popular with fans and he wanted to wow people with Yoda has a little, whirling ball of lightsaber fury. The same goes for Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine. Palpatine is absolutely condescending towards Luke in ROTJ about him having a Lightsaber as the weapon of a Jedi. It seems clear that Lucas never originally intended Palpatine to have been someone to use a Lightsaber. It again had just become so popular among the fans that everyone fights with awesome lightsabers that he rewrote the character for the prequel to be such that all Sith have awesome lightsabers too. In the OT It really just seems like Vader has a light saber because he’s a fallen Jedi.
Pretty sure 98.5% of what you said was intended only seemed that way because it’s so old they didn’t have the affects to make yoda the puppet play with a light saber if you’ve watch the OT so much u would know that was damn near impossible and had to be construed as such
@@redstarkboxingsportsnews4289 the point of Yoda in the OT though was being powerful like a transcendental monk guru with amazing force powers who didn’t need to jump around to take you down physically like a warrior because he had mastered his force powers. He was an old Yogi, a Buddha like figure of the Jedi, not someone who was going to spin around like a top with a lightsaber. Lucas took the kitchen sink approach though in the prequels and thought it would be cool for the kids to see Yoda bouncing all around, but it doesn’t speak to the point of the character in the OT.
I also believe in the ot, Yoda says, the force is to be used only for defence, never attack, for that is the way of the jedi. (In ESB) and then they have him using an all out offensive style in the prequels. I may have loved it as a kid, but now I feel it cheapened the character. I agree, it was purely fan service.

“Behold Master Yoda, for I have been trained in the Jedi arts by Master Filoni.”
I love that you can make an 11 minute video on just this one question. Gotta love classic Star Wars lore.
Plo koon was the mixed martial arts equivalent of lightsabre combat. Keep it up mate these videos are awesome.
@@thetorturepenguin well most jedi were so it makes sense that they were the same way.
Definitely my favorite older generation Jedi along with Qui Gon. Cool analysis to nerd out on.
Dude has lowkey been one of my favorite Jedi since one of the videogames where you can play as him. Can't think of the name at the moment.
A video that's 100% content?!? That's what I value! Great work on your deep dive into Plo Koon. Very informative!
My boy Plo getting some props.

I don't know why I love Plo Koon so much but I do. He seems like a very reasonable person, and jedi sometimes are a little extreme. He was very powerful too.. and look cool!
He was probably my favorite Jedi he looked sic and was badass.
Plo koon sitting there at a council meeting thinking "take me off the council Yoda, see what happens."
Wow. So...that title was a bit misleading. I was interested in learning about an actual DUEL between Yoda & Plo Koon at one point. I wanted to know why that happened and how he beat Grand Master Yoda.
No it wasn't.
@@edburt9067 I’m sorry but when did ploo beat him?
Sparring battle? Training?
This man says the same thing over and over again in different ways
Plo koon has been my favorite jedi of the republic era and second favorite overall since I play jedi battle and had his figure with the yellow lightsaber. He is the reason why if I had a lightsaber it would be yellow (god I hat Rey has one that’s just Disney trying to make her more unique and it sloppy as hell) anyway even with him being my favorite I’m still learning more and more about him. Thanks man please keep it coming
Why is you wanting a yellow saber different from Rey having one
Plo loon also used Electric judgment /Force Lighting
What a Power house!
I always wish we got to see more in lore behind the scenes kind of stuff. Like characters are always in a battle or doing something with the plot but it would be cool to see everyone in their down time like Jedi dueling in the temple and clones talking in the barracks that kind of thing.
Ooo, a "day in the life" kind of thing. I like the idea!
It's funny how there are So Many " The only to be able to beat Yoda." .... makes it something very unspecial
Right

It's just a movie...stop making it more..even lucus sold out because of winey fans
I litteraly only know plo koon and palpatine
Out of curiosity who else is there?
Plo Koon was my favorite Jedi since the Jedi Power Battles game on Play Station. I’m thoroughly enjoying all the love he’s gotten the past few years 😂😂😂
Make part 3 for qui gon training anakin
Plo Koon was awesome.
my head canon is he survived his ship crash and went on to live on Dorin with the baran do.
It would be relatively easy to bring him back
@@edburt9067 He certainly could and should have. The dude could survive in the vacuum of space for a while so crashing a ship shouldn't be fatal. Pissed me off when they "killed" him. So many of the Jedi Masters went out like punks it was pathetic. They should have at least had them kick some ass before the died.
if only Plo Koon had survived his star fighter being shot down. maybe I should add that a fourth story arc to my fan fiction.
My guy said the exact same 3 things for 11 minutes
Wish we could get a star wars game, where you could either master one style or pick 3 styles and blend their forms together
Could of swore they had something like that in KOTOR.
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast was one of the best SW games I've ever played. There was acrobatics like running on walls and you could use 3 different sabre styles. Really underrated.
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy as well
Exceptionally well researched and thorough. Really enjoyed this.
Plo Kloon and Obi Wan are my favorite Jedi. Very powerful indeed. Love the video and breakdown.
Outrageous this is!
So imagining PK ejecting his ship to deflect oncoming fire, force crushing a ship, throwing it into another, landing on a nearby ship whilst failing then stabbing it’s pilot before his death really doesn’t sound too far fetched. >_
He survived in my head canon lol
Doesn’t Ahsoka use form four of lightsaber combat? Because I think she’d used this form while dueling Maul in season 7 of the clone wars
I believe Ahsoka not only does this because she prefers the form due to her dual-sabers, but also because of Plo as it's mentioned in Clone Wars season 1 that Plo Koon is who brought her to the temple.
@@damienvoidstar oh ok
Ataru was the first form to incorporate dual-wielding of lightsabers, given the aggression in attack. Ahsoka used to practice Shien, and then utilized a second shoto saber in the off-hand.
Amazing breakdown love this video
I had an idea for what might have occured if Plo Koon had been on Coruscant during Sideous' revelation to Anakin:
Plo would probably not have moved to arrest Palpatine the way Windu did. That was far too rash, and gave Palpatine the final piece of ammunition he needed to condemn the Jedi, as well as forced Anakin to choose between the Jedi and his wife. That was a bad move.
Plo would have been much more tactical
I believe he had the empathy that Windu lacked to be able to sense the deep turmoil within Anakin.
Yea Plo is the Goat lol

Imagine a movie where we follow a Jedi training at the Jedi Temple, actually going into detail, seeing what life was like for a Jedi. Yes we have some idea what life was like and the rules they had to follow but I peronally think it would be something cool to see in detail.

No that will be boring, they will eat, poop and sleep in that time. No one want to see that.
@@Verhen_n your funny
...and then there are a bunch of clones in the temple for some reason
Great video. Similar to why Kenobi got the better of Anakin. Outside of Anakin’s overconfidence, styles and forms make fights. They could face common opponents (like Dooku) and Anakin would look much more impressive but Kenobi knew all his moves and could keep it close enough to take advantage of Anakin’s weaknesses when the opportunity presented itself (overreaching for the High Ground).
So plo Koon improved form 3 by adding and thinking of how he can characterize form 3 making it his own, like most other jedi, and it just suited well with him just as yoda work best with him

Anakin calling Plo Koon his equal reminds me of how Britain viewed Horatio Nelson.
Anakin was defeated by Yoda, Plo Koon DEFEATED Yoda. Anakin's response? "Oh wow, this guy is as good as me!"
Nelson was good, but did suffer losses in his career and was brought up in the Navy.
He was able to best him once and only able to do so because it was only training. Yoda would 100 percent defeat him if he wanted.
