Agreed…thanks for watching. Yeah my main focus for this channel is to help people understand the reality of owning an ev. Supercharging and home charging are realities for ev owners, but what most people don’t realize is that charging at home is what most of your charging is. Supercharging is only for trips and emergencies and in my case a couple of videos as well.
Love our Lightning. It's our daily driver over the car, and we have also save SO much in gas! We have a great utility and power is cheap here, charging at home has literally saved us about 1K in the 7500 miles we've driven it. We have our nitpicks, but the Lightning has sold us on EVs for sure.
Hey Mike, just wanted to say thanks for taking the time and effort to record these videos. I just picked up my new lightning and love it. Still trying to decide on how to drive it though. Tried normal move with one pedal driving and it just didnt feel right. However, sport mode with its slightly lessened built-in one pedal allowing me to use brake is so far my fav. Keep up the lightning vids!
Yea it’s amazing. I’m very fortunate my work has charging which is offered at 6/cents per kWh which is through ChargePoint. Then I hop on my electric scooter since my office is around a mile or so away from the chargers. I get a lot of crap but come on so much cheaper!
@@F150LightningMike enjoy your videos. I’ve never been super happy with my previous vehicles except maybe my mustang years back. This however I can’t stop raving about. As long as it lasts 100k miles I’ll be very happy.
Same here! My old Chevy avalanche cost me about 100 bucks a week! Saving 400+ per month! And my truck cost the same as gassers. I like all trucks so I appreciate both. But this is a game changer for me as a contractor for sure.
Yeah being a contractor I imagine you need to charge a decent amount so this idea might not work for you, but there are locations all over that you can use to charge for free, but they are mostly level 2 chargers. Even though electricity is cheap it’s a way I found recently to save even more money. Here’s a link to my short about it: Charge Your EV for FREE - Lightning Mike ua-cam.com/users/shortskG_X7TU0V-s?feature=share
Cost me over $35 to charge my standard range battery in MA. ¢.35 and rising. Fortunately I rarely charge at home because there’s a free ChargePoint less than 2 miles from my house. Otherwise we’d break even on gas/electric costs. But still, the lightning is the coolest full-size truck out there bar-none!
Agreed! I love my truck too. I remember you mentioning about the free charging before. Yeah I would be using that too with those electricity prices. That is almost exactly what gas would cost.
I’m not sure if I already asked you this, but is it cheaper for off peak hours in your area? In Colorado Springs they don’t tell you on the bill, but their website says (after a lot of digging) that weekdays 4-8pm is peak hours. And during peak hours the electricity price goes to about .30 cents from .11 cents the rest of the time. The weird thing is that they don’t show it on the bill. It just shows how many kWh used and how much. I’m wondering if your area does something similar.
@@F150LightningMike I called and asked about that. They do have some kind of alternative program but it didn’t really seem like it would save that much. So no, no in MA.
@@F150LightningMike I had a friend in Cali do exactly that. Bought a palette of used solar panels (20 or 25 panels), inverter, charger and used that to charge their EV during the day. I don't know if they bought a battery, but at those power rates it paid for itself really quick.
Yeah I would imagine. Here’s a short video I just did because I just discovered a little hack through plugshare app to find places that allow to charge for free. Here’s the video: Charge Your EV for FREE - Lightning Mike ua-cam.com/users/shortskG_X7TU0V-s?feature=share
Here’s me driving 331 miles with 3% left on range. It was a full work week for me. If my commute was longer I would just plug it in again earlier in the week. Still cheaper per mile than gas. I have also taken 4k mile road trip last summer. Mine will haul in the bed with 0 impact on range. Towing is the only “setback” but you can still go 100-175 miles with the extended range battery without charging depending on weight and trailer size. Overall for me it’s been the best vehicle I’ve owned. Will my Ford Lightning drive the advertised 320 miles? ua-cam.com/video/BLWvUrq8djg/v-deo.html

Battery to low. Your truck is carrying around 6,000 pounds of batteries. Watch your tires ware quickly because of excess weight. I see you are parking and charging indoors. Potential of your home burning down because of self igniting weak cell. Costly and dangerous machine.
I’m loving it. Yep I park it in my garage. It’s a lot of batteries for sure. I think it’s safer than a gas vehicle in my garage. Also I have had several battery powered drills and such plugged in for a long time in my garage and no issues there either. I’m just thinking there are too many people out there that don’t even have an ev that are scaring a lot of people with their videos.
Yeah I love home charging… so many channels focus on Supercharging but for anyone with a garage home charging and owning an EV are no brainers. 👌

Great point Johnny. Thank you for watching!
I just test drove one today, its pretty nice. I have a tesla Y P but the lightning is huge inside and nice to drive.
It really is the best vehicle in my opinion. I have almost 39k miles on mine and still loving it.

Great truck Mike, I spend between $10 and $12 a week. My daily driving lightning truck is awsome.
That’s about what I usually spend too. It is awesome!

Man that’s great. $.10 per kwh where I’m from its 2.5x that
That’s pretty expensive I guess at that rate I would probably look at what solar panels would cost.
Are you in Hawaii?
Ouch 😢

As long as you don’t need to use it as a truck, it’s great. Or go anywhere, or have long commutes, or tow, or need to sell it…
I looked up the resale. I stand corrected.

We use ours as a truck all the time. Haul the trailer or boat, road trips hundreds of miles away, it does it all.
Great to hear
