    Off topic, but I finally bought a 2023 lariat lightning extended range. Incredibly happy with it. I thought about the cybertruck but decided I’d wait another year. This is my 5th F- 150 and they’ve all been good. Thanks for the site. Really helps in getting info on the truck.

    Awesome test Mike... I also get way more than the 285 mile range I am supposed to get (platinum gets a little less). The killer for range is air resistance. So the faster you drive, the less range you get. All these people(reviewers) that complain that the range is off are driving 80 mph of highways for 300 miles straight. I never go on the highway (all city driving). That is why I also get well above the range estimates. I think they base it on some city driving and some highway driving and give it a combined range.

      Thank you. And thanks for watching. Yeah I thought a real life test is always best. Most people drive most of their mileage in town mixed with some highway. So I just went about my week both times I did this before and after hitting a deer and it worked out great. I love this truck.

    People don't understand that you don't have to have your battery at 100% to use your vehicle, and you don't have to drain your battery 100% every day in your normal use. Most of these newer EVs today have a range between 270 to 320 miles, it's funny to hear some of these EV critics and range anxietists complain and worry so much h about this. Folks , most of you all will, never use more than 30% of that on any given day!

      You make a very good point. Most of the time I only charge to 90% and it takes me a couple of days to get it below 50%, which is when I charge again.

    • @F150LightningMike

      That’s awesome. Yeah I think because of the tire size the XLT ER battery gets the best range out of the entire group. How many miles are on the trip now?
      I have 13k on one trip since my new tires in December. The range is not as good though because it started in winter.

    Great test, the secret is going the speed limit. We regularly do 5% to 10% better than the range estimate if we drive the speed limit (65-70mph). We've also decreased our range by at least 20% by going 85mph on a rainy day. I'm with you, I don't even understand why people sit in line at fuel stations just to live their normal life. Hopefully I get my Lightning back out of the body shop this week.

    According consumer reports on their initial review of the cybertruck they got 2.7 kw on highway driving and you would think the Tesla would be a quite a bit more efficient . Now as you said this wasn't freeway driving but looks to be open road driving so that 2.8 is very respectable for the lightning compared to the cyber truck

      I’m just using the portable charger. I had a 240v plug for EVs installed in the garage and it’s been working great for me since. Charges slower than the Ford power station would, but it works fine for what I need. And saved me about $1,100 not installing the other one.

      @@F150LightningMike I didn't get the ProCharge because we have a Lariat model, so it wasn't included free, and had no use for an 80A charger when the service at my home is only 100A. Instead of relying on the portable chargers, we installed a dedicated Grizzl-e smart charger configured at 30A (so we get about 6kW), works great for my Lightning and my wife's Kona EV.

      They watch Fox News and it's affiliates and such misinformation media, and have never actually been in an EV. Once you try an EV you never go back.
      Same thing happened a little over a century ago. People were terrified of those dangerous horseless contraptions that were taking over and there was nowhere to get that dangerous, explosive kerosene leftover they called gasoline other than in hardware stores or pharmacies. Yet people today talk about range enxiety. In those days, an automobile got no more than 10 to 20 miles of range, and there was nowhere to refuel it.

    Why does two pedal better than one with sport mode on.

    • @F150LightningMike
      @F150LightningMike  8 годин тому +1

      Not fully sure why it’s better but for some reason sport mode with one pedal Drive turns off is the most efficient. I guess this would also depend on the terrain that you’re driving in and driving habits, but you should test it out and let me know. here is a video that I did testing all of the modes.

    • @F150LightningMike

      One pedal drive does help increase efficiency more so than 2 Pedal drive with normal mode. However, for some reason sport mode without one pedal drive is the most efficient for me. Here’s a video I did testing which mode was the most efficient in the winter temperatures: Ford Lightning - 1 Pedal Drive vs Sport Mode - Winter Range Test
