Skills to pay the bills!! I was an Army Crew chief for 6yrs and That pilot almost certainly received his training in military aviation and if I'm wrong then he missed his calling and they missed out on an EXTREMELY talented aviator.
It's good to have pilots like this at home for helping people, y'all can't claim all the talent now lol. Although seeing a group of hovering chinooks on a mountain too would be dope
That is the absolute closest and confident landing I have ever seen in all my years of aviation ....... your right spectacular and let’s not forget EPIC !!!!!!
I took a bunch of lessons in a tiny, 2-place helo and landing over water introduces a different dynamic as the water doesn't offer the same air-cushion that solid ground does. Looks like a tight fit and right over the water. Awesome!
@Remain Nameless when I do load calcs in helicopters where I will be less than Effective Translational Lift over the water, I use the performance charts for Hover Out of Ground Effect because water although it provides some benefit, it is not nearly the same as a hard smooth surface. When a helicopter hovers over the water, it disturbs the surface enough that you may be short on performance if you don't properly plan your margin of safety!
This is amazing. . That pilot knows that helicopter very well. Didn't look like too much clearance between the blades and trees. I couldn't even start a helicopter or even fly one. I'm impressed. Great video.
I have deep respect for these small Eurocopters, they are compact and roomy. There is one passing over our every day, same colours and rushing to emergency. This is a very close fit..... well done..
Yes me too. And much respect to the German's who designed the helicopter this is ultimately based on, the MBB Bo-105 and the Japanese who tweaked it into the Kawasaki BK-117. A global effort of innovation.
He's like a robot. Amazing he came in that hot, and just drifted it into position sideways like lining up a plane on the runway and then just coasted down exactly on point within inches of the edge of the lake.
Holy christ that is one of the best helo pilots I have seen, got to equal the female chinook pilot clip in Afghanistan who offloaded troops on a mountanside pass by holding the rear door on the mountain path whilst hovering over a massive drop. I salute you both!!! I love seeing skills like this!!
That was some sweet flying. And the back out, yeah baby. Pilot is like, ehh nobody even shooting at me, no problem. Guy getting on looked like he wasn’t sure. Boi get your ass on there.
WOW!!! WHAT A GREAT PILOT. GREAT SKILL. IS THAT AN EC 135 HELICOPTER. I LIVE IN MID WALES AND WE HAVE THE MID WALES AIR AMBULANCE AT OUR LITTLE AIRFEILD. I THINK OUR AIR AMBULANCE IS THE FIRST TO HAVE DOPPLAR RADAR TOO. IT IS THE BULGE ON THE FRONT OF THE NOSE! THE PILOTS OF THESE GREAT HELICOPTERS ARE JUST AS VITAL AS THE GREAT PARAMEDICS. GREAT RESPECT TO YOU ALL.
Nice flat landing spot, tail in the clear over the water, and several feet from main rotor to the trees. Not as hard as it looks. Nice to see they got the patient.
nowthisis2stupid I guess you must have won the bet nowthisis2stupid. I have been a commercial helicopter pilot and helicopter flight instructor for the past 20 yrs. I have worked in the rocky mountains, the arctic and Central and Eastern Canada. I have 6500 hours of helicopter time as well as a fixed wing licence. The majority of my time has been on Eurocopter (now Airbus) helicopters, primarily the Astar. The vast majority of our work is doing oil and gas support as well as forest fires. All of our landings are confined in remote locations. I have probably landed helicopters 40 000 times. You could probably say I am well versed in what it takes to land a heli. Have a nice day.
Someone below mentioned Nam skills. That's what came to mind watching it come in and settle down. The pilot was definitely top shelf. Mad skills. He should drink for free that night. 💶💵💸
Helicopter pilots are a different breed of man But to be honest, those blades don’t have a hard time cutting through smaller upright branches, and what gets cut, gets flung onto the ground due to the downforce from the rotor.
No wind & calm day you can land a chopper on a dime. Notice the lake and trees.... it's dead calm. Yes fantastic flying but I love to see someone do this when it's blowing a gale.
A plus retrieve....good to see talent still exist......now the fishing is gonna suck at that end of the lake for a while ...but all in all no tree trimming or crash....kudos...
@@dudenorway828 I really didn't think he was a Vietnam vet. I was just making a comparison. Those guys who flew Hueys in Vietnam were some of the best helicopter pilots ever, and so is this great Norwegian pilot.
It's a very sought after and honorable profession, only the best get to be a Norwegian air ambulance pilot. And it's good to know when the shit hits the rotor....eh...fan I mean :-)
I'm a 60 year old Norwegian man, I have to admit the first time I saw this video, I was a little scared. Sometimes they fly over where I live, then I think now there has been a serious car accident again.
The nature in the video tells me this is either Finland, Sweden or Norway. Heavily forested countries and that tiny spot could be the nearest "clear" area there is for miles. Looks like transferring a patient on board would be impossible as the chopper can't land all the way. See the way he's hovering there waiting for the medic to hop on? My guess is they dropped off the medic who administered first aid to the patient whilst they waited for an ambulance to arrive.
I am without a doubt he is quite familiar with the approach and clearances between the trees. The camera is deceiving as the trees in the foreground are most likely not as close to the helicopter as they seem.
No risk of him getting stuck in the mud. He was pulling power the whole time. I bet there wasn't more than a couple hundred pounds of weight on those skids when he landed.
See the registration on the tail? LN is norwegian. The nature doesnt look Danish either. Great flying, but from what we see it looks like its not worth the risk, but again, we dont know the backstory.
The pilot is showing bad ass skills, that’s for sure!
I bet he was well hard and flip it and hang loose all day dude

Well, this is the most functional part of the fucked up UA-cam algorythm, showing me amazing 11 yrs old videos I wasn't even aware of.
Fantastic spacial awareness. Hard to tell from the angle but it looks like his rotor is just a few feet from that tree.

I'm okay with this!
gl uploading new ones ;)
10 year old videos are non monetized by uploads back then so UA-cam does not have to pay them so free video to show people in recommend page

Holy cow!! .... wondering how much main rotor clearance he had between the trees. He's had to to have done that a few times.
I can't believe what I just seen, but that is some of the best piloting I ever seen
Honed by years on the sticks no doubt. Epic!
Yer an not the helly stick lol
It's not all on the pilot, the engineers, builder's and maintenance of the helicopter deserve credit too!
Coming back out was just a spectacular 👏👏👏👏👏🙏
That is AWESOME!
Sounds like a very pissed off Hornet. Love the power, it’s incredible

TORNADO TAZ-
When you think about it, the pilot isn't just as vital as the paramedics.
He's totally, 100% necessary!
Extremely impressive landing and takeoff. Well done!
When you passed your GTA V pilot training course...
just picking up the doctor from hi's summerhouse while going to pick up patient
There is dropped mic on the ground where the helicopter left from..
Nice flat landing spot, tail in the clear over the water, and several feet from main rotor to the trees. Not as hard as it looks. Nice to see they got the patient.
I didn't see a patient get in, only a crew-member with some equipment.

eh, that pilot deserves a huge high five. and a beer. just not while he's flying. fantastic way to get the boss to pick you up for work.
Awesome skills! Give that man a beer. Well...when he's done flying that is.
Huh? Those were some crazy skills on display!

wow his blades must have been millimeters from that tree
no doubt! I was waiting for branches to start flying
Yea two millimeters😁
*metemillers
@Mr Sunshines kids asleep so you came to bully strangers on the internet? Head over to the senior center for more safe targets.
Helicopter pilots are a different breed of man
But to be honest, those blades don’t have a hard time cutting through smaller upright branches, and what gets cut, gets flung onto the ground due to the downforce from the rotor.
So many ways to do this with disastrous results. Unbelievable skill!
The fish and the beaver in that pond are going wtf man.
I want that pilot when I break my ankle hiking.
Holy cow balls to the wall that pilot rocks
That helicopter wasnt struggling a bit to pick up those huge balls of steel the pilot has.
Wow, great piloting. Confined landing with the added danger of mud at the waters edge could get a skid stuck. Fine job.
Damn, How is that pilot NOT cutting or trimming that tree?? LOL
MrCyclejay1967 hahaha
Well if the pilot was mexican. That would happen
MrCylejay - Greenscreen.
It was a Norwegian Pillot, They are highly skilled
Those guys have the biggest set I reckon
That sound is awesome
In the USA, our medical helicopters require a 150 foot square landing area... This guy parks his chopper 20 feet from a tree.
Looks like they applied the same numbers there in millimeters.
It’s amazing that there was room for anyone else in that chopper after the pilot and their balls.
They were probably just picking up that medic for his shift from his own house. Lol Way to go guys... Nice job. (:
No wind & calm day you can land a chopper on a dime. Notice the lake and trees.... it's dead calm. Yes fantastic flying but I love to see someone do this when it's blowing a gale.
Picking him up for work. He had a lunch box
steady hands at heartbeat 220 bpm and balls of brass ... kudos ... :-)
There are no old and bold cowboys in this profession....
If that guy can land a chopper on that place (which is insane btw! ) then I think you can park your car once in a while correctly on a parking lot :D
so is that how he gets to work
A plus retrieve....good to see talent still exist......now the fishing is gonna suck at that end of the lake for a while ...but all in all no tree trimming or crash....kudos...
Just wow! Stuck it , picked it up and backed it out.
Esse helicóptero tem uma rotação de hélice absurda, muito maior do que um Bell ou Esquilo.
This guy must have flown Hueys in Nam. Awesome!
Norwegian pilot. Maximum 40 something years :-)

@@johnh8846 a friend actually own a Huey who was used in combat in Vietnam. Awesome machine, it is all original.
@@johnh8846 I belive norwegian armed forces fly the Hueys too.
They're just picking this guy up for work or what?
Technically...yes.
And the service is free unlike the US where the patient would later die from a heart attack when the bill arrives
Incredibly skillful pilot !
Pretty sure that is not the first time they have landed there. He approached like he had done this a few times.
what an absolute mad lad
And that is the beauty of a helicopter.
Wow ♥️ precision master. Simply perfect control 👍👍👍😍😍

It would be nice if there were a written description of the reasons/conditions for this.
The nature in the video tells me this is either Finland, Sweden or Norway. Heavily forested countries and that tiny spot could be the nearest "clear" area there is for miles. Worlds best copter pilot
that is some skill the pilot has
Lot of people calling this a landing, it is not a landing at all it is an insanely skilled hover just of the deck very well executed
They aren't hovering, they are on the ground. Likely sitting light on the skids to decrease the chance of sinking into the ground.
Welcome to Norway!
The boy got skills.
Amazing control and skill ... Top class stuff
It appears to me this chopper has shorter than normal rotors. Given the terrain, this may be the bird of choice to allow for such maneovers.
Guy knows his bird, cool. Wonder if he is an older military pilot.
this is sick ... great job done !!
That pilot's precision landing was simply amazing! Words though can't do justice to the skill that he possesses.
You can pick one helicopter pilot in case of an emergency....yeah, I'll pick this pilot thank you very much.
I am without a doubt he is quite familiar with the approach and clearances between the trees. The camera is deceiving as the trees in the foreground are most likely not as close to the helicopter as they seem.
