@Aero_Snout Me too! Howard had good ideas for the Hughes 269, safety and control authority, passive antitorque..compact size.. 369 was stellar performer and engineers built for weight reduction without sacrificing strength, capturing bonus performance.. the evolution has been amazing!(I love looking back @ it). But for personal flying, I'd love me a 369HE/Hughes 500C!😎👍🚁

Not going to act like I'm a pilot, because I'm not. I'm a retired Architect, but my story involves the OH-6A. I retired as a civillian employee of the National Guard in Tennessee. I was in charge of construction and maintenance all over Tennessee which is over 600 miles from end to end. We had a versy aggressive Adjutant General towards construction. I had a construction inspector working for me that was in the National Guard and was also a pilot who flew the OH-6. The General gave us permission to use the OH-6 for traveling to construction sites since I could visit multiple sites in one day instead of just one or two sites in a day. It saved a lot of overnight per diem in the process and kept his hours up. We would fly about 3 times per week and in the process I got about 300 hours of stick time. Quite an experience for a lowly Architect. I also flew in the UH-60, UH-1 and had some simulation time in the AH-1. I loved that time of my life and will always have a soft spot for the OH-6.

I have been slowly piecing together things to pitch the idea since we have an airport in the middle of our county. But as far as funding and grants I’m kind of clueless where to begin.

@@KodyTurner-h1u great question. The helicopter has dual controls installed which makes flying from either side possible. Starting the engine, however, would be difficult as the starter button and throttle shutoff are on the pilot’s side.
@@Aero_Snout Awesome. I was unaware of which side was the dedicated pilots' side due to having controls on both sides and assumed that all the buttons were accessible being placed in the middle. thanks for the reply and amazing helicopter!!!
@lazy7301 good question. It depends on the agency, but most I’ve seen (including us) will put qualified candidates through flight training. They do it in-house or they’ll contract with a flight school.
