I just replaced my original IRC’s with 4700 miles on them with another pair. I don’t do any single track or mud. Gravel and blacktop. They do everything I need for my style riding. Lots of great choices out there for any style of riding.

I was thinking of trying the Tusk Dsport, Its funny you posted this video because im posting my D606 review tomorrow 06/17/22. Also the D605 are the stock kawasaki tires as the IRCs are to the 300L. My buddy's KLX300 came with the 605 from the factory.

Dang, glad you posted this video. I am wanting to do a full drive swap on my 300 abs rally( 1200+ miles). Keep the pull off sprokets ,chain , and tires as emergency backups while they still have life. 14/45 sprockets and xring chain, with dsport rear(1/2" or so taller so will wash a tooth or two on the rear sproket). The front tire of choice is now not a dsport after seeing your results. Maybe an irc tr8 battle rally or similar. Thanks for your trouble and saving me blood sweat and money on a dsport front( I really dread that stiff rear tire change when it comes time).

I run dsports with the tublis system. Make sure tire is hot and use plenty of armor all and take small bites.

I bought my 2020 CRF 250L preowned a few months ago with only 1000 miles on it, the previous owner put on Perelli scorpion tires. Here in Palm Beach County I don’t even think we have a dirt road😂 so it’s all street riding for me and I’m glad I have these tires however I would love to go off routing with my motorcycle one day and I will need tires knobs!

I'm having about the same with my Tusk D sports, don't have that many miles yet. Not the easiest tires to change. The back tire is great, front has caused me to take deep breaths a couples of times. Still good for the cost.

True. I like the rear tire but I am going to try something different next time

Ran the d-sports on my drz400s. Man I hated the front on gravel when it was new, but loved front and rear off road. After the front wore down about halfway, I didn't mind it anymore. The rear sidewall sure is thick. Almost made it home with a flat, had my stator not burned up in the same trip. My front wore the same as yours and I don't have enough front brake for it to be the cause! I did run heavy tubes and they had ground rubber both front and rear on change out. Maybe heat was the culprit for front! Running golden boys now. Nice video!

Yea they have super stiff sidewalls

The tusk d sport rear is hard to beat with a Pirelli mt21 front for off road ! Running the factory 605s on my klx300, great on pavement and not too bad on dirt roads, front tire wants to wash out in deep loose rock and sand ! Going to put the tusk on the rear and trying to decide what to put on the front!

I just bought another D605 for the rear of my KLX300, but want to find something better for the front. The MT21 is a bit too biased off-road and the 605 is sketchy up front, so still looking for that perfect front

I've experienced pretty much the same with the Tusks front and rear on my 300. The rear is excellent in a lot of different ways. The front I'm less excited about because of the way it handled on pavement and because of the way it wore. I've gone back to the stock front until I figure out what to try next. And because you can never get exactly what you want, I've found that mounting that rear Tusk is difficult. The sidewall is extremely stiff and will fight you all the way.

Thank you for the review. I'm looking for a new front tire and I like TKC80's but can't get them. I was wondering if Tusks were the answer for but as it is the Pirelli MT21 is winning the race for my next tire choice for grip on and off road and tire life for the front of my DR650.

  • @TWA_HoleKutter
    @TWA_HoleKutter 2 роки тому +2

I was thinking of putting a set of those on mine but having that much wear at 2300 is a bit discouraging. I had a pair of Pirelli MT 21's on my 250L and the front lasted longer than the rear. I think I got at least 3500 out of the rear before I replaced it, but the front was still in great shape. I sold the bike shortly after that and bought a 300L. Still running the stock IRC's on it for now but I just really don't like them. I just felt more stable and sure footed with the MT21's, on or off road. Though they are pricey compared to the Tusks, I'll probably get the Pirelli's when it's time, we'll see. If I do go with the Tusk's I'll be sure and use your link. Happy trails Frank!!

I'm running MT21s front and rear and love them but I've found it important to ensure I've the right pressures set. I ran them on my old XR400R and left them down at 12psi as most use was off-road (Salisbury Plain is on the other side off my road and the first byway is 100 yds away). I find that I use my 300Rally when ever I can (I did a 330 mile blacktop day for the Welsh National Rally back in May) and they wear really quickly and weirdly unless they're at 22psi. They are a bit susceptible to tracking road imperfections but a small price to pay. I did have a pair on my old 990 and they were amazing but the rear lasted less than 1000 miles :-D

Huh? 2300 is crap miles for one of those, I have 2,100 and it looks closer to new. I run mine at 28 lbs on my dr650. How do you wear a front more than rear?

  • @airadaimagery692

I just put the Dsports on my bike. My IRCs are still good, they only have 800 miles on them. I’m thinking maybe I should put the IRC back on the front and wear it out first, what you think? I’m doing more road riding right now than I wish to be, but that’s just the way it is for right now... But when I do go off road around here it’s pretty sloppy., that’s why I wanted that new back tire with nice grips.
Our pond has monster size frogs in it. Lol.. You’d have a field day out here at night.
