Also you can put the seat brackets so the part that bolts onto the frame is on the outside so the L shape is facing away from the chair rather than toward it, this will give you the ability to get the seat lower, swap the brackets around basically so the 2 bolts on the bracket that bolt to the extrusion are actually on the outside of the seat rather than underneath
Yep that's definitely a possibility, I didn't consider that for a few reasons. Because of the shifter arm clearance issue I talked about in the video, the seat is mounted as far right as it possibly can go with the brackets facing inwards. Also I can lower the seat by lowering the seat mounting profiles as there's a number of different heights I can set them to (not a quick or simple adjustment, but possible nonetheless). Also with the XR1 it's not advantageous to mount the seat super low because with the tilted wheel uprights, the lower you sit the further the steering wheel is from you. But your out of the box thinking is great! Finding solutions is a great skill
Haha thanks Gregory Yeah they really executed the slick design well. There are some usability compromises that I described - as you get with any efforts to turn aluminium profile cockpits into something beautiful - but I think they did a good job!

For $899 AUD ($604 USD) I think the least they could have done is included the shifter mount with the rig instead of making it an option. Most rig manufacturers do... I also don't see how that seat provides head support in ANY seating position. Maybe they should elongate the back some more. Nice review, though, as usual.
Hi Darren, fair point on the shifter mount. One compromise with the angled upright design is that you need bespoke bracketry to mount it (have a look at other angled upright rigs like the Next Level Racing F-GT Elite, the Simlab P1X Pro, the Sabelt range) which makes the shifter mount more expensive to include than a standard straight upright rig like TrakRacer do (just need a couple of standard 90° brackets). That extra cost might not be feasible for Simrigs.com to absorb - but I'm not here to make excuses for them, it's a fair criticism when looking at the wider market. As for head support, something is better than nothing. Everyone always blasts me for the seating position on my personal rig because I look like I'm lying back ready to go to sleep 😂 but it works, and so too does the Aero seat at least for a guy my height. I bought their old rig for about 550 AUD (minus some discounts, so really more like 450 - 500) and got the shifter mount with it which I only had to reinforce a little bit, which you will need to do for this one too. It's also significantly less problematic than this rig. I've had zero issues getting in or out, so the angled uprights only have downsides. Overall, looks like a downgrade to sell a more nice looking, more expensive product. Big no from me.

I looked up this rig and added some options inc a seat - it came to 2400 US - the decal kit alone is 200 US . I am not sure that based on pricing that I’d consider this rig vrs its competition- the Trak Racer Alpine looks better and is a good chunk cheaper
Hi Mark, it’s currently only available in AUD. A standard triple setup with seat and shifter mount is equivalent to $1300-$1400USD, depending on your tax calculations. So a few hundred USD cheaper than the Trak Racer Alpine.

I just tried their configurator and added every single option I could find, plus a seat and came to 1900 USD - I certainly wouldn't buy every single option myself, and that would bring the price down a fair bit. I get what you're saying about price - this is not priced as a budget cockpit, I agree completely. The question is, does it provide value at its price - and ultimately the market will answer that question. I think it does its job really well, and it has unique selling points in its custom branding opportunities that nobody else offers (can you imagine trying to organise a cohesive looking and impactful design for your business branding onto a tubular rig like the TrakRacer TRX?). Will these matter to a home user? Maybe, maybe not. Its ease of assembly compared to its competitors is something that's hard to get across - but the difference is there and I've been lucky enough to have handled products from a number of brands now to experience the difference for myself - and part of me operating this channel is to share those experiences and have conversations just like this one.

I would like you to test the ASR pro, which is adjustable with the steering wheel, for example, and approved for the entire 32 nm wheelbase. Not having quick and easy settings is a must in my opinion. Because you want friends to come try it too.
The ASR Pro is an interesting product and I'd love to test it out. Being in Western Australia, my location may make the logistics of such an an endeavour a bit difficult. I should give my friend Will a call 😉

But not to be able to adjust often, then it will wear out. The ASR Pro must be able to do this and this needs to be tested and praised if it is good so that other manufacturers get better at this. The AR1 that you tested here had very good things. but can't adjust the steering wheel in a good simple way. I haven't found you did tests with simagic more than you unpacked it. You do a very good job and should almost stop being a dentist ha ha

Dr. Quan, with regard to Motion, Specifically the Sigma, they actual suggest a closer to driver mounting of the front actuators. This enhances the calculations in the software for motion.
Hi Paul, I was under the impression that getting equal weight distribution was the goal - and if I were to place the actuators behind the steering wheel uprights the rig becomes very front heavy particularly when without a driver posing a potential topple risk. With that in mind I installed the actuators in front of the uprights, but as close as possible to them which is what I commonly see online and everything worked well from what I could tell. Actually I just realised you posted this on the XR1 video not the DK2 video! Yes agreed with your assessment. Simrigs.com carry the Simrig SR1 and SR2 systems which mount underneath the rig instead of on the sides, so the fire/aft distribution of the actuators can be ideal with that system. But yes, very good pick up!
With the Aero seat I was wondering is it possible to mount the 2 back bolts higher and the 2 front bolts to simulate a normal bucket seat? I'm planning on pairing it with the F-GT Elite and I want to to do both Formula and GT seating positions.
I think it really depends on your mounting brackets. On my brackets, the front can only mount in the very top hole/slot because any lower and the top of the bracket clashes with the wide thigh bolsters. That means the adjustment has to be made at the rear mounting point, and if you want regular GT posture you'll need to bring the rear mounting point way upwards above the front one. It may be possible, I'm guessing since most 'formula-ish' seat brackets have the front holes much higher than the rears, you can use those but turned back to front so the rear holes are way higher than the front. I think it should be doable, I just don't have any suitable brackets to test it.
@@DrAlanQuan Yea I see. I was planning on either getting the Simrigs brackets which both Back and Front mounting holes are the same height or the NLR brackets which are similar to yours that have the Front holes higher. I guess swapping the brackets over and mounting in back to front should work.
@37jw Our seat brackets are getting a rework and having 2x more slots added to the front so you can have a little more adjustment. Mounting using our seat brackets compared to how the RK ones in the video are mounted you can simulate more of a GT position. We have a showroom in Melbourne if you wanted to come try. We have had a few professional actually say the Aero has best simulated their supercar/gt3 positioning. Mounting the seat front and back at a similar height we found create a more comfortable seating position.
Yes the short backrest definitely caught me by surprise. Luckily it still suits me ok, but certainly not anybody taller unless it is mounted more upright - but as a dentist, l feel really passionately about neck support because our work is to hard on our necks already, our hobbies don't also need to contribute. And yes, the monitor arms as they are pretty much dictates a relatively low height monitor (super ultrawide monitors are ok but TVs no) If I had a big TV I'd want it further away anyway to be fair
Slightly better (subjective) appearance is a worthwhile tradeoff for heaps of ergonomic issues? Didn't need to tell me the video is sponsored, I can tell.
That's disapointing and a large oversight about the pedals, my Logitech G pro pedals mount from the bottom and certainly dont need to upgrade as you say.
Hi Axel, thanks for commenting! I haven't tried the G Pro pedals but I understand they are quite good. I believe every design decision has pros and cons and I personally feel pedals that bolt from underneath are not consumer friendly because they force the customer to get underneath their rigs to install or uninstall no matter the cockpit design. There is a reason that all high end pedal sets bolt from the top. An old school pedal tray that would be compatible with bolting from top AND bottom would force ALL users to get under their rigs for installation - bottom mount pedals like Logitechs force that anyway, but top-mount pedals would need a hand under the tray to stabilise a nut for the bolt coming from up top. On an aluminium profile pedal tray, top mount pedals just bolt straight into T nuts which are self-stabilised in the profiles - so for top mount users there is NO need to get under the rig at all. The downside to this design is the need for additional brackets to suit bottom-mount pedal users which does affect you. And again, Logitech's design choice to bottom mount forces their users to get under their rigs to install the pedals in this scenario too. So although I sympathise with you being slightly disadvantaged by this design choice not marrying well with the (in my opinion) un-user-friendly design of the Logitech pedals, I support the design choice made in this cockpit and you'll see it is widely adopted by other brands as well. So was it an oversight? Possibly. I think it was a conscious design decision to better suit more customers overall. Perhaps throwing in 4 spare angle brackets so you have a complete ready to use cockpit for all users would be a nice touch.
@DrAlanQuan I was more referring to the lack of a pedal plate option, like how there are multiple options for wheel mounting or comparing to Track Racers tr120, which has various options for its pedal mounting. Love everything else about it though.
Hi Axel, Yeah I can see how a pedal plate option could be advantageous, but then that introduces inventory issues which are not the consumer's problem but I can see as a business owner wanting to streamline things to make distribution easier - but then over simplifying things inevitably means your more limited product range will not suit everybody. I guess I also have an odd perspective because I like identifying issues and troubleshooting them (within reason hahaha)
Yep, welcome to the compromises of formula (or formula-ish) seats. With a regular GT seat the XR1 will free up a lot of knee room If you watch my personal rig tour with a formula seat and straight vertical uprights, the knee clearance is super tight and the only reason it's tolerable is a combination of shaft extension and fully extended wheel mount. Formula rigs are really difficult to execute, and the Aero seat on the XR1 pushes the limits of its ergonomics to the max. Consider what legroom any other straight upright rig (such as a TrakRacer TR80) would have - even less, since it's not angled to create more knee room
The $600 tripple screen mount screams for skipping and building or ordering something cheaper, right? The rig is cheap, but the extras feel kinda expensive, which leads to an overall neat, but not especially expensive or cheap cockpit. Nor do they have a lot of customisations options directly from them. So you kinda need to order from other sources or build yourself anyway imho.
The triple screen mount is AUD$549 vs the TrakRacer which is AUD$519. I think the price is fair. As for needing to order from external sources - can you please clarify? The only third party item on the rig as reviewed were the castors. The pedals, shifter, wheelbase and custom graphics are all available through the simrigs.com website so to my eye it's a one stop shop
Excited to get the XR1 when it's back. Do I need an extra mounting plate for the Moza R9 v2? Also, do I need the heel mounting plate or will my Moza CRP plate that I have attach to it? Never had an aluminium rig. Thanks!
The XR1 is a fine choice, super easy to build, I think you'll enjoy it. The Moza bases are all bottom mounted so you'll need the optional predrilled wheel deck which I haven't tested but I assume is compatible with Moza. Also the heel mounting plate is a standard inclusion so you get to choose whether you use it or not! What seat are you planning to put on it?

I think you'll be fine - the large seats accommodate fairly wide bodies but I'm of normal build and find the wide seats quite comfortable. The touring seat should be a good one!

Hi there, this isn't the exact item filmed but will work perfectly. Hi McBain, I'm not sure what you're talking about - is it a seat slider that you're trying to attach? If that's the case, you'll need to space the seat mounting profiles along the chassis such that they match up with mounting holes in the seat slider, then bolt them down. Hope this helps, and if it doesn't then please try to narrow down your query :)
Sorry one more question. I see you have the pedal plate - which I didn't end up going with. With no pedal plate, can I still mount the Moza CRP pedals to them? They are top mounted
No problem at all my friend! I was told that the pedal plate is a standard inclusion (it comes in a separate box but it should be delivered with every XR1). With that in mind, you can choose whether or not to use it, so there should be no issue mounting the CRPs that I can think of :)
I can see at 04:51 the pedals are mounted directly between the two bars. Maybe I don't need the plate. Did you fix them into the T Nuts? Sorry I'm finding it difficult to figure out how to do this part because the standard build video doesn't have enough info.

Hi there. There's different products for different people, at different price points. The Exodus Racing XR1 is not a budget product. Its design opens up possibilities that no ASR rig can, independent of cost. It doesn't make it better or worse; it's different and it gives the consumer choice. There are people who the XR1 will be perfect for. And there are people like you who don't need or want what the XR1 offers - and that's fine. Thanks for commenting. lol these companies are stupid with prices. Simlabs is like $550 for aluminum right and so much better. You also never want to mount you monitor mount directly to your sim rig. Way to much vibration going through the rig which then transfers to shaking your monitor or tv which aren’t made or built for that 😂
Well, in fairness, if done correctly, on a motion rig, the monitor or TV shouldn't know the difference, TV's/monitors are in RV's, Boats, Planes and cars, etc. So the case use for them to be in less than ideal conditions are there, that doesn't speak to longevity, though. The problem, is, I've yet to see one especially with tripples, that I'd trust to not have to fiddle with, so for my money, they stay on a floor stand. Although as Dr. Alan Quan's review shows, it's quite capable for a single ultrawide.

You act like his comment was not needed or insulted you, and just thank him for the engagement, when the concerns are valid. There are much better options out there (Like Simrigs's old rigs, when they still made them...) generally for less money with less issues. Direct mounting monitors to rigs is also always a downside and is only necessary for motion platforms; with the more serious motion platforms using projectors anyway, to avoid the downsides.

All humans are biased and it's one of the challenges in communication in general. I'll try to provide a comprehensive list of my biases here, which I think would make pretty boring video content. I am Australian and proud of what a fellow Australian company is doing. I have a strong income and some savings in the bank I have run a small business where marketing made a real difference to my ability to generate income I find Derek at Simrigs to be a pleasant bloke I'm appreciative to Simrigs for loaning me stuff to make content about Do they pay me extra for social media marketing? They don't pay me anything! Not a cent, and not in any product either. All the hardware I received will be going back to them. I do get to play with it in the meantime though which is admittedly nice. The reason I didn't address the comment is he opened with saying someone is stupid for this or that. That is not a sign of somebody who is interested in thought out and rational conversation. Your comment, though piercingly to the point, is full of constructive questions that can lead to a meaningful conversation between us. This is not a cheap product. There are cheaper options out there and it looks like Simrigs has decided to exit the race to the bottom, and instead designed something unique at a higher price point. The marketing potential for a prospective business purchaser is significant and as an ex business owner that makes me really interested in the product. As always, the market will vote with their wallets - your opinions are totally valid and apply to you and your demographic, but others exist too. I also prefer floor standing monitors for a number of reasons but many people buy and use cockpit mounted monitors without significant issues - if monitor failures were extreme we would hear a lot more about them. All things considered including the potential business use of the cockpit I think the one time setup issues with its design are completely ok 🤷 what more can I say The ergonomic issues I encountered with the rig I believe are down to the Aero seat not being a great match with the XR1 and I feel like I made my thoughts on that clear. A regular upright seat would solve all my ergonomic complaints and I'll be testing that when I get around to it. Anyway I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Nonsense, and any good motion rig will have the monitors mounted to the rig. And a motion rig is going to move and vibrate a whole lot more than one with just a strong DD wheelbase. Would you use a motion rig with a freestanding monitor setup?

Hi Paul, I was under the impression that getting equal weight distribution was the goal - and if I were to place the actuators behind the steering wheel uprights the rig becomes very front heavy particularly when without a driver posing a potential topple risk.
With that in mind I installed the actuators in front of the uprights, but as close as possible to them which is what I commonly see online and everything worked well from what I could tell.

Yes agreed with your assessment. Simrigs.com carry the Simrig SR1 and SR2 systems which mount underneath the rig instead of on the sides, so the fire/aft distribution of the actuators can be ideal with that system.

With the Aero seat I was wondering is it possible to mount the 2 back bolts higher and the 2 front bolts to simulate a normal bucket seat?
I'm planning on pairing it with the F-GT Elite and I want to to do both Formula and GT seating positions.
I think it really depends on your mounting brackets. On my brackets, the front can only mount in the very top hole/slot because any lower and the top of the bracket clashes with the wide thigh bolsters. That means the adjustment has to be made at the rear mounting point, and if you want regular GT posture you'll need to bring the rear mounting point way upwards above the front one.
It may be possible, I'm guessing since most 'formula-ish' seat brackets have the front holes much higher than the rears, you can use those but turned back to front so the rear holes are way higher than the front.
I think it should be doable, I just don't have any suitable brackets to test it.

I was planning on either getting the Simrigs brackets which both Back and Front mounting holes are the same height or the NLR brackets which are similar to yours that have the Front holes higher.
I guess swapping the brackets over and mounting in back to front should work.
@37jw Our seat brackets are getting a rework and having 2x more slots added to the front so you can have a little more adjustment. Mounting using our seat brackets compared to how the RK ones in the video are mounted you can simulate more of a GT position.
We have a showroom in Melbourne if you wanted to come try. We have had a few professional actually say the Aero has best simulated their supercar/gt3 positioning. Mounting the seat front and back at a similar height we found create a more comfortable seating position.

Yes the short backrest definitely caught me by surprise. Luckily it still suits me ok, but certainly not anybody taller unless it is mounted more upright - but as a dentist, l feel really passionately about neck support because our work is to hard on our necks already, our hobbies don't also need to contribute.
And yes, the monitor arms as they are pretty much dictates a relatively low height monitor (super ultrawide monitors are ok but TVs no)
If I had a big TV I'd want it further away anyway to be fair

That's disapointing and a large oversight about the pedals, my Logitech G pro pedals mount from the bottom and certainly dont need to upgrade as you say.

I believe every design decision has pros and cons and I personally feel pedals that bolt from underneath are not consumer friendly because they force the customer to get underneath their rigs to install or uninstall no matter the cockpit design. There is a reason that all high end pedal sets bolt from the top.
An old school pedal tray that would be compatible with bolting from top AND bottom would force ALL users to get under their rigs for installation - bottom mount pedals like Logitechs force that anyway, but top-mount pedals would need a hand under the tray to stabilise a nut for the bolt coming from up top.
On an aluminium profile pedal tray, top mount pedals just bolt straight into T nuts which are self-stabilised in the profiles - so for top mount users there is NO need to get under the rig at all. The downside to this design is the need for additional brackets to suit bottom-mount pedal users which does affect you. And again, Logitech's design choice to bottom mount forces their users to get under their rigs to install the pedals in this scenario too.
So although I sympathise with you being slightly disadvantaged by this design choice not marrying well with the (in my opinion) un-user-friendly design of the Logitech pedals, I support the design choice made in this cockpit and you'll see it is widely adopted by other brands as well. So was it an oversight? Possibly. I think it was a conscious design decision to better suit more customers overall. Perhaps throwing in 4 spare angle brackets so you have a complete ready to use cockpit for all users would be a nice touch.
@DrAlanQuan I was more referring to the lack of a pedal plate option, like how there are multiple options for wheel mounting or comparing to Track Racers tr120, which has various options for its pedal mounting.
Love everything else about it though.

Yeah I can see how a pedal plate option could be advantageous, but then that introduces inventory issues which are not the consumer's problem but I can see as a business owner wanting to streamline things to make distribution easier - but then over simplifying things inevitably means your more limited product range will not suit everybody.
I guess I also have an odd perspective because I like identifying issues and troubleshooting them (within reason hahaha)

Yep, welcome to the compromises of formula (or formula-ish) seats. With a regular GT seat the XR1 will free up a lot of knee room
If you watch my personal rig tour with a formula seat and straight vertical uprights, the knee clearance is super tight and the only reason it's tolerable is a combination of shaft extension and fully extended wheel mount.
Formula rigs are really difficult to execute, and the Aero seat on the XR1 pushes the limits of its ergonomics to the max. Consider what legroom any other straight upright rig (such as a TrakRacer TR80) would have - even less, since it's not angled to create more knee room
The $600 tripple screen mount screams for skipping and building or ordering something cheaper, right? The rig is cheap, but the extras feel kinda expensive, which leads to an overall neat, but not especially expensive or cheap cockpit. Nor do they have a lot of customisations options directly from them. So you kinda need to order from other sources or build yourself anyway imho.
The triple screen mount is AUD$549 vs the TrakRacer which is AUD$519. I think the price is fair.
As for needing to order from external sources - can you please clarify? The only third party item on the rig as reviewed were the castors. The pedals, shifter, wheelbase and custom graphics are all available through the simrigs.com website so to my eye it's a one stop shop

Excited to get the XR1 when it's back. Do I need an extra mounting plate for the Moza R9 v2? Also, do I need the heel mounting plate or will my Moza CRP plate that I have attach to it? Never had an aluminium rig. Thanks!
The XR1 is a fine choice, super easy to build, I think you'll enjoy it.
The Moza bases are all bottom mounted so you'll need the optional predrilled wheel deck which I haven't tested but I assume is compatible with Moza.
Also the heel mounting plate is a standard inclusion so you get to choose whether you use it or not!
What seat are you planning to put on it?

I think you'll be fine - the large seats accommodate fairly wide bodies but I'm of normal build and find the wide seats quite comfortable. The touring seat should be a good one!

Hi there, this isn't the exact item filmed but will work perfectly.
What you're looking for are 40mm brackets with a centred bolt hole - this allows the brackets to mount flush with the top, allowing your pedals to sit evenly over the top.

Hi McBain, I'm not sure what you're talking about - is it a seat slider that you're trying to attach?
If that's the case, you'll need to space the seat mounting profiles along the chassis such that they match up with mounting holes in the seat slider, then bolt them down.

Sorry one more question. I see you have the pedal plate - which I didn't end up going with. With no pedal plate, can I still mount the Moza CRP pedals to them? They are top mounted

I was told that the pedal plate is a standard inclusion (it comes in a separate box but it should be delivered with every XR1).
With that in mind, you can choose whether or not to use it, so there should be no issue mounting the CRPs that I can think of :)

I can see at 04:51 the pedals are mounted directly between the two bars. Maybe I don't need the plate. Did you fix them into the T Nuts? Sorry I'm finding it difficult to figure out how to do this part because the standard build video doesn't have enough info.

Hi there. There's different products for different people, at different price points.
The Exodus Racing XR1 is not a budget product. Its design opens up possibilities that no ASR rig can, independent of cost. It doesn't make it better or worse; it's different and it gives the consumer choice.
There are people who the XR1 will be perfect for. And there are people like you who don't need or want what the XR1 offers - and that's fine.

lol these companies are stupid with prices. Simlabs is like $550 for aluminum right and so much better. You also never want to mount you monitor mount directly to your sim rig. Way to much vibration going through the rig which then transfers to shaking your monitor or tv which aren’t made or built for that 😂

Well, in fairness, if done correctly, on a motion rig, the monitor or TV shouldn't know the difference, TV's/monitors are in RV's, Boats, Planes and cars, etc. So the case use for them to be in less than ideal conditions are there, that doesn't speak to longevity, though. The problem, is, I've yet to see one especially with tripples, that I'd trust to not have to fiddle with, so for my money, they stay on a floor stand. Although as Dr. Alan Quan's review shows, it's quite capable for a single ultrawide.

You act like his comment was not needed or insulted you, and just thank him for the engagement, when the concerns are valid. There are much better options out there (Like Simrigs's old rigs, when they still made them...) generally for less money with less issues. Direct mounting monitors to rigs is also always a downside and is only necessary for motion platforms; with the more serious motion platforms using projectors anyway, to avoid the downsides.

Do they pay me extra for social media marketing? They don't pay me anything! Not a cent, and not in any product either. All the hardware I received will be going back to them. I do get to play with it in the meantime though which is admittedly nice.
The reason I didn't address the comment is he opened with saying someone is stupid for this or that. That is not a sign of somebody who is interested in thought out and rational conversation. Your comment, though piercingly to the point, is full of constructive questions that can lead to a meaningful conversation between us.
This is not a cheap product. There are cheaper options out there and it looks like Simrigs has decided to exit the race to the bottom, and instead designed something unique at a higher price point.
The marketing potential for a prospective business purchaser is significant and as an ex business owner that makes me really interested in the product. As always, the market will vote with their wallets - your opinions are totally valid and apply to you and your demographic, but others exist too.
I also prefer floor standing monitors for a number of reasons but many people buy and use cockpit mounted monitors without significant issues - if monitor failures were extreme we would hear a lot more about them. All things considered including the potential business use of the cockpit I think the one time setup issues with its design are completely ok 🤷 what more can I say
The ergonomic issues I encountered with the rig I believe are down to the Aero seat not being a great match with the XR1 and I feel like I made my thoughts on that clear. A regular upright seat would solve all my ergonomic complaints and I'll be testing that when I get around to it.

Nonsense, and any good motion rig will have the monitors mounted to the rig. And a motion rig is going to move and vibrate a whole lot more than one with just a strong DD wheelbase.
Would you use a motion rig with a freestanding monitor setup?
