    What about Confucianism? I'm actually surprised that it was left out, as I would say Confucianism is actually far more comparable to Judaism than all the other afore-mentioned religions these students discussed with Rabbi Friedman.

    Unfortunately, this conversation left out Sanatana Dharma, which gave rise to ALL the dharmic faiths…..He lacks knowledge in this, he mentions not that Buddha himself was a Hindu. I love how the less learned speak automatically about Buddhism but glance over Sanatana Dharma……smh

    Isaiah 52:13-15 & Isaiah 53:1-12
    Behold, My Servant will prosper,
    He will be high and lifted up and greatly exalted.
    Just as many were appalled at you, My people,
    So His appearance was marred beyond that of a man,
    And His form beyond the sons of mankind.
    So He will sprinkle many nations,
    Kings will shut their mouths on account of Him;
    For what they had not been told, they will see,
    And what they had not heard, they will understand.
    Who has believed our report?
    And to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?
    For He grew up before Him like a tender [a]shoot,
    And like a root out of dry ground;
    He has no stately form or majesty
    That we would look at Him,
    Nor an appearance that we would take pleasure in Him.
    He was despised and abandoned by men,
    A man of great pain and familiar with sickness;
    And like one from whom people hide their faces,
    He was despised, and we had no regard for Him.
    However, it was our sicknesses that He Himself bore,
    And our pains that He carried;
    Yet we ourselves assumed that He had been afflicted,
    Struck down by God, and humiliated.
    But He was pierced for our offenses,
    He was crushed for our wrongdoings;
    The punishment for our well-being was laid upon Him,
    And by His wounds we are healed.
    All of us, like sheep, have gone astray,
    Each of us has turned to his own way;
    But the LORD has caused the wrongdoing of us all
    To [all on Him.
    He was oppressed and afflicted,
    Yet He did not open His mouth;
    Like a lamb that is led to slaughter,
    And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers,
    So He did not open His mouth.
    By oppression and judgment He was taken away;
    And as for His generation, who considered
    That He was cut off from the land of the living
    For the wrongdoing of my people, to whom the blow was due?
    And His grave was assigned with wicked men,
    Yet He was with a rich man in His death,
    Because He had done no violence,
    Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.
    But the LORD desired
    To crush Him, causing Him grief;
    If He renders Himself as a guilt offering,
    He will see His offspring,
    He will prolong His days,
    And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.
    As a result of the anguish of His soul,
    He will see it and be satisfied;
    By His knowledge the Righteous One,
    My Servant, will justify the many,
    For He will bear their wrongdoings.
    Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great,
    And He will divide the plunder with the strong,
    Because He poured out His life unto death,
    And was counted with wrongdoers;
    Yet He Himself bore the sin of many,
    And interceded for the wrongdoers. Isaiah 52-13-15 & 53:1-12

    If one is worried about one's future reincarnation, concern for others is foremost. So one's own destiny and what does God want would be the same thing. Give it up Rev

      If one is worried only about their future reincarnation, they are more likely to do "good deeds" for their own sake, rather than out of true concern for others. A prophet said, 'Thou [ie. our L-RD] was beseeched by him [ie. our father Abraham] that rejoiceth and by him [ie. Yinnon our King] that worketh righteousness in thy paths. For they remember thee, though, thou art wroth; for we have wronged Thee, through them we are continually saved. But all of us are like that which unclean, and all of our "good deeds" are like a discarded rag. And all of us fade away like a life. And like a wind we have been taken away from our iniquities.'

    I love the interaction between the two different beliefs. Showing a lot of respect for one another in a humbled approach.
    It is funny when he asked why don't we have peace yet then.
    Going back historically looking at the oldest authenticated writings upon different beliefs.. it would begin to show the foundation of where religions were formed. So that begins to show who built upon what and had different ideas about deity and supreme rulership.
    Even biblically it's known that it's recorded over and over and over again about the anger of God and the idols and foreign god's.
    This is God talking to the Israelites. Therefore it needs to be acknowledged that many of the religions would have stemmed from the Israelites in origin. Over many generations a bit here and a bit there gets changed or added.. and the end result is a new religion. It's known that Solomon for example married wives of alternative gods. This had to affect not just he, but the people within his kingdom and any nation he had married into because they would have socialised and discussed their beliefs.
    If I believe in one God and another believes in another and it causes rifts in the marriage it would make sense that both sides may begin to change or eliminate certain practices for the sake of peace of the home.
    However, if looking at religions subjectively.. it may be able to be seen the similarities which then brings the question of how that can to be. The Jewish people for example were wanderers. They went into Egypt where there were many new gods.. they already had hearts that were susceptible to being lured away. Not a judgement.. but it's within the bible. So entering Egypt there would have been moments of looking upon the culture and customs and being enticed with the differences.. this is human nature. I'm sure Egypt was filled with many intoxicating sounds and smells and bright colours and the clothing that was upon the peoples bodies.. their movements.. their perfumes.. so much to tantalise especially after all that travelling and being in the wilderness.. it would have seemed torturous.. to not be able to go and be a part of that.
    The music that danced upon the carrying winds.. is it really understood just how tempting that would have been.. even amongst the Israelites the men seeing these beautiful women and the women seeing these men dressed and adorned as they were.. seeming to have such a freedom or sexuality that maybe they themselves lacked.. them over the furthered years the Asian cultures of again women and men who physically are so different and seeing with wonderment a whole new world never known before...with different sounds, smells, dress, the way they presented themselves with dignity or humbleness that differed from what had been seen before.. their foods seeming so exotic and full of unknown flavours that before had never been experienced... Watching as they worshipped their gods or seeing their temples and the curiosity of wanting to know what they believed or to enter into their temples because within themselves was a burning desire to see ... We humans are made with such curiosity..

    Interesting . God exists. He who dwells in darkness (a place without the light of Truth, the Word of God) asks (does he not?) : So why was I created apart from they who are called Jews, and found far from His Word? Well, that is the answer, is it not? Some are born far from His Word, whilst others grow up near, told - Do not worry, we have a Physician-Rabbi in the family, who possesses great wisdom. The Seeker and the Master. The Man and the Woman - he needs her, whereas she may desire him if he is useful. Love. The world needs Israel, but does Israel desire the world ? No, for Israel has the Torah. But occasionally, one comes along who comes across as lost, a seeker. It is a balancing act : Stay safe, or throw a lifeline? : Sort of like that scene from that movie, The Martian. Israel - the Virgin, but does she desire children? Your Father is he who brings you to His Word, whereas your mother is she who desires you to be faithful, and remain. The world is a he, and dangerous. .. Causality (the keeping of His Word) versus correlation (my ancestors knew Noah, who had brothers and sisters) - it is not genetics that makes you a jew, but you are what you believe (unless what you believe is false). "I have memories" - Ms. Marvel. ... Noah had three sons. Ham was wicked. And Noah showed concern for one of Ham's sons, but not to the other sons of Ham, for the brothers of canaan he did not call cursed. A curse is that which keeps you from a good thing. Canaan was not going to learn anything from wicked Ham. Noah saw that Canaan desired wisdom, the ability to discern between good and bad. Of means From, or Belonging To. To his brothers, Canaan would be not as one related to them, but as a servant of servants. The Lord Jesus said that a servant does not remain in the house forever, but the son remains. So be careful which house you choose to serve in. Be a servant of righteousness so that you might receive the adoption, to be called a son of God.
    Judaism is interesting, because it begins with God, and a man and then a man and a woman, the man's wife. And the subject is always about love and fidelity. The Word. The Word made flesh. The bridegroom. TANAKH (did I spell that right?). Christians who say, The Bible is "all about Jesus", seem clueless to me, or sound doubtful, or angry. The Bible is about love. Because really, that is what drives you as a child. What will she be like, "the one" ? God said to the woman that her desire would be to her husband, and he would rule over her - but we are not told whom she chose. For she had three choices - the man, the serpent, or His Word. Who will be Chosen, to be of The Bride? You may be of the Church, but will all who are now of the Church also be of the Bride, and not castaway? Israel is as a Bride in waiting. Christians are too, if they remain faithful, and not found walking after the flesh. Well, that is how I see it, as a Christian - for 613 mitzvots.. I doubt I could keep them all, for even a week. I admire them who do. Abraham did not have to, for Moses had not yet been born.

I have also been discussing the ancestors of the Chinese people according to the bible. Our conclusion differs from that of rabbi Friedman’s.

    This interview was utterly cringeworthy! It was a tragically wasted opportunity to present the beauty of Judaism's core beliefs to an important segment of humanity.
    Moreover, some of his statements feed right into the classic stereotypes of Jews which only add fuel to the vicious antisemitic responses in the comments section.
    I must say, this rabbi has impressed me previously with his erudition, but completely dropped the ball this time!
    To begin with, he makes several ludicrous, provably inaccurate statements! One of these is that orthodox Jews "try" to keep 613 commandmendments.
    That is false, as many commandments apply only to Jewish priests, others to Levites, some to particular circumstances that are no longer in practice, etc, etc! No Jew could ever have kept the 613 commandments!
    The rabbi made another inaccurate statement as he clumsily attempted to pander to his Chinese visitors, claiming that "we", meaning the Jewish People and the Chinese are both descended from Abraham. He tried to claim this by way of explaining our similar qualities of intelligence, industriousness and so on.
    I suppose the rabbi had no clue that recorded Chinese history predates Abraham!
    They had a rich, flourishing culture dating all the way back to Jafeth!
    His dogmatic interpretation of Abraham's sending the children of his concubines to the "lands of the east" is devoid of factual context!
    Most dismaying of all, however, was that the rabbi did not sufficiently, nor adequately emphasize the essence of Judaism, which is that God created the universe and continues to have a relationship with all His creation. To maintain this relationship, He communicated a set of values, behavioral attitudes and nuanced rituals, commonly called "laws", which are necessary to make it work. In regard to this, Judaism's most central belief is two-fold. One aspect is that these laws are embodied in a Divinely given document called the "Torah". The other is that a crucial and pertinent segment of these laws are meant to be communicated by the Jewish people to the rest of humanity, so that they too will have a meaningful connection to God and, in the process, create the framework for just societies to be expressed in a multitude of forms!
    This mission, in fact, is what the Jews were "chosen" for! Not to be the "smartest" or "richest" as the anti-semites love to claim and as the rabbi appeared to be feeding into.
    This is especially surprising coming from a rabbi whose revered mentor, the Grand Rabbi of Lubavitch, was known to have campaigned for the perpetuation of this idea!
    Oh, how I wish I could have been there!

    Since in Judaism you are forbidden by tradition not to study other religions, this is why this is not good. Instead of the rabbi being well versed in all other beliefs, and capable of giving a ready, persuasive response, he cannot, because he doesn't know. Respectful, all rabbis should study other religions, in order to debunk them, with pre-meditated answers, using the Bible, and science etc, to guide outsiders away from half truth with decisive proofs, and words. If you study for that in mind, why should it be wrong?
