NOTHING will ever top an '80s Crue concert in terms of a party...

Their very first world tour "Shout At The Devil" lasted 18 months. They opened for Ozzy Osbourne. By the end of that tour they wanted to come home. This song was written for their next album "Theater of Pain" 1985 .

Saw them back in the day and Guns and Roses was the opening act. I was in my 20’s and it really was a great time for music! Went to a lot of concerts and it was really like the video. No cell phones to distract us so we were really living in the moment! I really miss those days, it was the best of times for sure! Happy to see y’all enjoying this great music!! 🎸🤘

Their record label didn’t want the song. The band didn’t listen and pushed it anyway. When it came time to record the video, the band had to fund it and record it themselves. It set a record for the most requested video on MTV which unlike today, actually aired music videos all day and night. It stayed at #1 for 14 weeks and caused MTV to change their rules on call in requests. They named it the Crue Rule. It only allowed a 30 day eligibility for video requests. 👊🏼

Once of the best 80's rock ballads. Set the standard for those that came after.

Every metal/hair band had their power ballad. Some were kind of sappy but this song is one of the best 80s power ballads...it's still got some kick to it. Fly To The Angels by Slaughter is my other favorite power ballad, & it's based on a real loss by the singer. Skid Row's I Remember You is also an extremely famous rock power ballad...Sebastian Bach's voice is incredible & he later starred in a couple Broadway shows.

The power balled that started it all guys. This was the one. MTV had to make the decision to stop playing it after like 2 or 3 months because no other band could get onto the most requested video top spot. It was called the Crue rule.

I was lucky enough to catch Motley Crue live for their Dr Feelgood tour and it was amazing. It was the concert where Tommy Lee was on the rotating roller coaster drum set. They sounded alot better than they do today plus Dr Feelgood is one of my favorite albums

At 4:05 you see how Mick has to stand by Tommy to support him to keep going? Those drums sticks must have felt like cement by the time they got to that song,...look how tired he is. He's struggling to push on.

On piano here is the drummer Tommy Lee. I saw Motley a few times in 80’s and 90’s. Was never a fan of their music but tickets were free to go with friends so I went. Even if you don’t care for their music, the put on a fantastic show back then! Tommy Lee on drums was pure insanity. He’s an amazing drummer and musician. This song I always loved! The piano is beautiful but it still shows how much energy their shows had back then! Tommy Lees drum kit with him in it was lifted to the ceiling and flipped over and over while he played drums never losing a beat! His musical ability always got overshadowed by his wild party ways and porn star girlfriends and wives. Mick Mars the guitarist is super talented too but is ten years older than the other guys and suffers a debilitating spine condition that sidelined him years ago. Nikki Sixx is a decent bass player but his stories of heroin addiction and final sobriety were absolutely wild. Vince Neil was always just an average vocalist in my opinion and even that average vocal ability peaked two decades ago. This song was always their best to me because it is just good and doesn’t require anything more than the music and vocals..no wild stage antics.

Another really good Motley Crue ballad is You're All I Need. You'd probably like that as well. It might be better than Home Sweet Home.

Regarding Mick Mars solos...we always hated it that Crue songs didn't always have a solo... but, if you pay attention...many of their songs have outro solos. So, even though you know the song is ending soon...don't disregard Mick at that time. I saw the Crue on the Dr Feel-good tour...it was awesome. 100% pure energy from start to finish.

Seen them in concert too they are an excellent band, but they were self destructive. Vince was arrested for killing a passenger in his vehicle while driving drunk they all had drug and alcohol problems, and women problems. Mick had all kinds of health problems
