So bad ass 😅😅
100°is the low in Yuma in the summer. Come test it out down here. I want one.
I like the xplore x22, however I would like a washer like the black series..also looking at the palomino that just came out...can the x22 come with a washer?
Good stuff
Glad you enjoyed it!
How about doing this test in El Centro California where it really gets hot. 100 degrees for us is cool weather in the summer. Are you up for the challenge
Need to do this same test with the Kimberly caravan!
The kimberley did great! We ran it for several hours. Impressive rig!
would it be more beneficial to put two dometic RTX 2000 12v AC in the unit at 6800 BTU each ?
Can ROA/Imperial Outdoors add additional solar panels?
Absolutely! We can at ROA
@@ROAOffRoad my wife and I have been looking at a Black Series HQ17/21 for us and kids, though now really considering this Xplore with the overland package.
@@aneisinger We definitely fee like that would be a wise decision. Let us know if we can help you with anything.
How about an upgrade to the MAX package 6 or 8 Lithium Batteries & 3k Watt inverter Also add 5 Solar Panels. can this be done? Planning to travel , starting from Washington throw Alaska, throw Canada and coming out at the Maine border. Can the Xplore be set up for this trip? Figuring it will take about 13 to 14 months.
Yes. We could definitely add a lot more solar and more batteries. Inverter would be easy too
How long can you keep 75 degrees w the refrigerator as well on this bat setup?
How much Solar were you putting into the batteries during the test?
Between 7-10amps per hour with the sun out. Don't have a total amount.
@@ROAOffRoad How many days does it take to recharge to 100% with the stock solar panels after running it down to 16% on the battery bank? Your crew set us with pretty much the same battery system and inverter in our XR-22 and it’s been impressive. However, the solar panels didn’t fully recharge in a week of sitting in the sun (after a rainy weekend). I also think I need the smart shunt to monitor how much power we’re actually using, the stock XR-22 doesn’t have a shunt to monitor amp hours used, just a percentage based on voltage (which I think is misleading).
@@carlchristianson8320 The New solar system took almost a week to bring the batteries back to 100%. Definitely need a Generator or more solar.... (Maybe both)
Now that was our kind of video. Very timely considering us folks up here in the Pacific Northwest are about to have seven to eight days in a row of record temps of 100+ degrees. We were watching the video all the way through to see if you were going to mention whether or not the DC fridge was on! It's impressive that they now make capable AC units that can cycle and surge on a 2k watt inverter while also running lights and a DC fridge. Our ten year old Dometic 13500 BTU unit needs the 5500 watt generator or shore power to work. I see that they are also making 12v DC AC units now. They are smaller (6900 BTU) and very expensive, but with the insulation and size of the Xplore, you could probably run the thing all day in the hottest weather, not draw down your batteries, and still stay cool. Looking forward to the next video!
Can/ will you do the same test on the HQ series campers? If so, let me know when.
Black Series don't run off batteries. We can't do it stock.
I live in Texas and I want buy the HQ17 but if I can run the ac on solar and battery then going have buy the xplore. I would love to see head to head video between the two trailers
@@MARLEYMATRIX If you are comparing insulation there is no comparison. The Black Series hardly has any insulation. It is really only made for 50-80 degrees. Anything over 90 it struggles and anything under 50 the same. The Black has a great floor plan and suspension but insulation the Xplore is night and day. 😁
Great video! But can't help thinking it would be great to recharge the house batteries using the obvious generator -- truck with robust alternator(s) -- we have while towing. At ROA, can you work on a upgrade to more quickly recharge the Lithium batteries? Some sites suggest the 7 pin wiring is inadequate for this so large cables required from truck battery to trailer with Anderson (or similar) connector. Renogy and Sterling make DC to DC converters for this purpose, which limit the draw from the tow vehicle battery. Could this be done with the X22?
Hey Shane, bring it to my house this summer in AZ. Let’s see how it does. And if someone can wire my 19 this way would be great😁
Meanwhile my HQ 17 came with a thermostat from a 1990’s section 8 apartment complex.
Regardless, the heat where I live is unbearable, so 63-65° is what I keep my house regulated at... So, Thank you for the testing. I would prefer the smaller unit. 👍
Good luck trying to get the solar to charge the batteries before the next hot day. Sounds like you only one day of using the AC on the batteries unless you bring additional power generation.
Sorry phone cause issue that 100* is inside my trailer and is higher outside so @104*
I had faith that this could be done in America. The only element missing was the will to do it. Now I'm interested in camping.
So not good enough for fulltime living
for that the m-power volta system in storyteller beast, has no equal
good video. looks like a well built caravan
Glad it works so well I am watching this 6/2721 I live in washint state up mountain loop Rd. 3miles up from Granite Falls 98252. And at 12 noon and hit 100* and right now its 104pm and still 100*. I live in a 26ft trailer that is a Rainer by Dutchman. It a 2007, I cant use its Propane it effects my lung badly so only on electricand space heaters and I cover up all the time in winter. So can I ask how much it would cost a Xplorer with electric power only for heat and cook top if possible stove? If you can tell me please give me where and whom to contact to learn $$. Stay cool!

Hey Shane and Team RVOA. Another great video. The test reminds me of the ice chest shootouts that pit the Yeti against the cheap Kmart brands and the Yeti copycats. Some tests actually cut the coolers in half to show the insulation thickness (which I don’t recommend you do with the trailers😜). I assume that the “other” unseen trailer in the test is a comparable size Black Series (HQ19?) with its huge windows shut. I just experienced some 95 F weather in Montana off grid with my HQ19 and it did get too warm inside even with the windows open so I enjoyed the shade outside until it cooled down (even though I could have fired up the generator and used the Houghton soft start AC). I’m realizing that the HQ19 is best enjoyed in temperate climates which is fine by me.
The AC freezing up means it's probably low on Freon.
You should have it serviced and test it again.🤔
It is a brand new unit. Lots of brand new units freeze up if they over work.
a lot of talk
