Stevie Coppell always gave everything. One of those rare players who played equally well for Club and Country
Good manager too but now Brits don't get a look in for Premier league management. Clubs will pick them from Europe, so Spanish manager will bring his country top stars to the club. It's all about connections. British managers do the other divisions. If they get promoted to Premier under a Brit manager & struggle as per then he gets sacked & replaced by, yes a European manager..
I'm appalled at this.

Trevor Francis at his absolute peak just before he snapped his Achilles before the European Cup Final and European Championships. Forest got the job done without him but England didn’t.
Might have made the difference in the crucial game against Italy in Euro 80 in what proved a super tight match..

me too with 4 mates but didn't stay at team hotel but drank with the team after game in bar.

Brilliant Stuff.
How amazing that the camera kept rolling after the end. We get to appreciate the composure and skill of Brian Moore having to do the summing up three times before the producer was happy - and similarly when Ron Greewood and Trevor Brooking made comments.

It would be superb to locate the England-Belgium match from the Euro 80 and the Tony Woodcock 'disallowed goal' that cost England the match..
Steve Coppell Man of the Match was pretty standard back then! I do wish Laurie Cunningham would have got more chances for England!
Cunningham was brilliant.
Greenwood had shifted the team away from strong wing play going into the Euro 80 and was playing with a smaller midfield with just one wide man, shame..in the big match against Italy the team could have done with more width with a Peter Barnes or Cunningham..

He was & felt a bit inhibited playing for England as black players were only starting to come thru from areas of black population ie London & Birmingham. West Brom with Ron Atkinson had great black players Laurie, Cyril Regis, Brendon Batson.

Thanks for another great upload - OK it was a friendly, but this was an impressive England team, from a time when our clubs were used to taking on and beating the best European teams . None of our player look nervous or intimidated and Mills was a class act. The interplay between midfield and the forwards - and the desire to attack - was great.
I think Keegan supplied that link very well but against Italy in the Euro 80 match he really kept dropping too deep when Greenwood should have been telling him stay in the attacking third and put Hoddle on..
Nice video. Thanks for posting. This was one of those rare occasions where we dominant over Spain for a few years. We beat them 2-1 in the Euro's that year as well. Just couldn't score against them at the 1982 world cup which cost us.
Kevin Keegan had a good game in midfield, which allowed Woodcock and Francis to run amock further upfield.
actually it was his tendency to drop too deep that cost England against Italy in Euro 80..

There was 80,000 people there that night, and the place was half empty.
