West Germany were in transition then. Breitner, Muller had retired. No Netzer who was in Spain. New players being tried. Great team 1970- 1974 but in decline by 1975

@@randyborstol2491 In fact the great Paul Breitner was in dispute with Schoen who didn't like playing foreign based players so he might have stayed on under another manager. A shame because they greatly missed him between 75-81.

The highly regarded Beckenbaur very unprofessional grabbing the ball in what would have been a goal by Shannon. That is red card category today. West Germany very poor on the day.
