Very nicely shown recipe. I often make kichdi as well as Bisibelebath with millet..I use little millet or foxtail millet. I have also made with quinoa. All come out very well. Thank you for the video. I appreciate how you are promoting millet foods.
A very fine s.s strainer to strain foxtail millets in wet condition I want to buy. Please suggest. As normal strainers for tea making does not hold small millet grains . Many passes thru. Thank you in advance.
Okay, I’m a white boy…. pedant for Indian cuisine. Made it. Good…. Add a touch more of Hing at the end, carefully. Depending on the spice level of your chilies, amend with Kashmiri chili powder to taste. Not bad, but definitely not as creamy as I would prefer. I hunt for perfection, I guess that is exclusively dependent on the palate. For me, a breakfast dish should be somewhat mild, smooth and creamy (considering the dish). Maybe I didn’t make it right (non-hulled foxtail millet). The dal turned out perfect. Your presentation is great, however, please get someone to translate the steps in the comments. Several steps need clarification. As a seasoned Indian cook, I get the basics, but some things in the video definitely need translation or clarification. The khchidi isn’t bad, actually very good, but could be a tad bit more smooth.
I soaked the fox millets overnight. I wanted to make pulao so i added onion, 🥕, peas, potato and once these vegetables were 70% cooked added fox millets. Quantity wise fox millets was one katori so added two katories of water and cooked for 12 minutes. After 12 minutes when checked fox millets was not cooked and after cooking for 20 minutes still fox millets was still hard and I ate as it is. Did not like it much
Steam the soaked rice for 10 to 15 mins with the soaked water in a fine mesh steamer that fits well into the vessel with water . Close with lid and mix now then. Then follow any recipe. Works well.

It needs 6 to 7 times water to cook in open kadhai ook with vegetables see again and again takes 1hr or little more to cook properly
