Looks great ... One thing I started doing to prevent blow out on the backside when drilling holes is to clamp a piece of 2x4 on the inside of the case. I then drill the hole and it is supported by that 2x4. I end up with a much cleaner hole that looks perfectly drilled on both the outside and inside!
Cutting and soldering to the PowerCon is great! It’s just a matter of knowing what you’re doing. Nothing wrong with handmade....some cases it’s better than machines.
I agree. lot of my cables is DIY and much cheaper than a store both or a pre-made, i know what i'm doing because i study electronics. just sharing my opinion.
JS A U D I O yea, same here! I make my own extensions and quad boxes and things like that. Cheaper and fun (for me). I’m not an electrician, however was taught as a young age by a relative who was. It’s like building a computer motherboard or something like people make it seem lol. Pretty basic principles is all it is.
Lol I thought you building a case… lost 6 mins and 57 secs of my life! Lol I came back and finished watching it… couldn’t sleep. You actually did an amazing job bro! I’m impressed
Hey Barr, you can use Velcro cable ties for cable organization, you can cut them to smaller lengths if you need them smaller for a custom fit. The velcro sticks to the carpet material. Also, I put Industrial Velcro on the bottom of my shure Wireless Mic receiver, so I have extra space to the right of my 1 rack space for accessories, etc.
also saw this Powercon adapter, curious if this would work with the build: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MOD-PCON--temple-audio-powercon-ac-main-micro-module?mrkgadid=3331288201&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=gpla&mrkgbflag=0&mrkgcat=guitars&&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=92700046938601684&lid=92700046938601684&ds_s_kwgid=58700005283398317&ds_s_inventory_feed_id=97700000007215323&dsproductgroupid=373037010929&product_id=MOD-PCON&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=online&storeid=&device=c&network=g&matchtype=&locationid=1016367&creative=332063179851&targetid=pla-373037010929&campaignid=1708733954&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI356DsOi06QIV4oNaBR08kAqrEAQYBCABEgLc5vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
Nice video. I did the same case build with a few variations. I did the holes for xlr's on the right side.I also made two more holes for more xlr outs. On those ones i used a right angle 1/4 inch connector and went into the booth port in back of the DDJ-1000. I use those ports to control the subs separately. You can also order covers for your xlr ports on the outside.
Hey I am planning to get one soon the ddj 1000 my dad just got one can u use external hard/Portable hard on it because when my dad use is the hard drive not working
Kia Ora Barr, nice case build, I have the pro x case but not slide shelf one, the case is cushioned really well so handles all the knocks. I love the DDJ1000 in-fact I have two set ups of the same. So when I expand my DJ company and train younglings to use the force! Let’s hope we can get back to work ASAP
MC7000 great controller works with Traktor, Serato, Virtual Dj, Cross DJ. Has a second sound card for back to back sets. Sounds great. I don't think Barr knows anything about the MC7000.
i have the same case but the slide stand locks (if that is what they are) dont seem to do anything. do you use yours? you will see them on the sliding rail towards the back of the case.
Cool video I love this case build! I watched rick web, he snipped the wires and soldered them and i like how you got the xlr adapter to connect to the xlr cable. Just a heads up those apple cables will break very easily and very quickly...shouldve gotten anker chargers for your phone, ipad and mac
Yes, these are good to cover from dust and elements - www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/582621-REG/Neutrik_SCDX_Hinged_Cover_for_D_Size.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&lsft=BI%3A514&gclid=CjwKCAjwkun1BRAIEiwA2mJRWQAlHKqb63lAXsgFPx0jEpz2dJCoJGcWW0D7_u3L5aj36rQm7-bY8BoCCVQQAvD_BwE
That’s nice… I’m gonna do a similar mod to a few cases that I have… as far as the foam causing that cable to bend I would have just cut a slice in it to allow the cable to stick straight out… As far a cutting wires… you’re so good with these mods I’m 100% sure cutting and soldering wires should be easy for you… just put some silicone over it and then wrap it with electrical tape when it drys… Thanks for the vid man 😐👌🏾
There's something missing. What did you use to connect to the powercon inside the flight case, since you didn't snip the ac plugs on your power surger? Please I've been trying to figure it out.
Great case mod and video! Would like to suggest some Penn Elcom dishes to recess your connectors. Works great on live-in 4x12 guitar cab cases and protects your jacks.
Awesome build. Did about the same back to my case and DDJ-1000 this past summer before starting my residency at Cedar Point! I highly recommend the Powercon and using it. I think nlfx will make you a custom cable if you aren’t confident in soldering. I personally love it because it is like a “lock and key” for my mixing board. No one can turn it on unless they have the “key” of the Powercon cable. Just a thought. Love all the videos man! Hang in there, the after party to this virus is going to be LIT!
Nice Job. You could just say you don't want to do your builds like Rick Webb. We know you were referring to him. :) Keep it up Barr. BTW, what is the email we can use to send you our setup pictures?
Get you one of these to plug into your power strip then all you need is a regular drop cord to power your flight case: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F6HVFH4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
@Bayardo Rugama if you don't feel confident in assembling the cables / connectors contact NLFX they can make customized cables for your needs ! it's just a small tip because there are a lot of people like Rick web who buys some cables prepared by them www.nlfxpro.com/xlrf-xlrm-pm/ just an little example and they have a lot more options even for power ! if I'm not mistaken i believe Elite Core also assembles customized cables according to your needs !
Dont use wd40. It is not a grease/lubricant and your shelf will go back to not being smooth shortly after. Petroleum jelly is an easy to find lubricant that will last for years.
Human made cables will always be better than robot made ones and a soldered connection is technically better then the connector you used because there is less resistance
I know this vid is old af, but here's my two cents anyway All cables are touched by a human hand at one point. XLR cables especially are no exception to this rule. Idk what frikin engineers hosa has to build machines which can cut wires and then solder them to plastic connectors...yeah I don't buy that. What they, along with every other company are doing, is manual labor. That's just the nature of soldering wires. IMO every DJ should learn to solder! First there's the money aspect - it's so much cheaper to buy the parts you need and then make the cables yourself. Secondly and imo even more important - assurance! I've soldered all my cables myself. I 100% trust all of them. Even in the event that somehow a cable stops working all of a sudden - open it up, see what's wrong, get home, take 5 mins to resolder and it's off to the races again. It's not rocket science.
You are throwing money away by not making cables, home made cables made by skilled people will always be better than factory ones as factories cut corners to keep costs down no matter how expensive the cables are, I work at a production company and we build everything because that is what professionals do and they never fail us

Just cut a little bit out of the padding so the cable isn't being bent.

Suggest to Hosa to come up with an XLR cap to protect the ends when not in use.
Where did you get the 1U brackets?
Whats the size of the drill bit to make the hole on the case
You got to love this guy 😆
WHAT'S THE WHITE CABLE @16:26 AND WHERE CAN I GET ONE?
Hey Barr, you can use Velcro cable ties for cable organization, you can cut them to smaller lengths if you need them smaller for a custom fit. The velcro sticks to the carpet material. Also, I put Industrial Velcro on the bottom of my shure Wireless Mic receiver, so I have extra space to the right of my 1 rack space for accessories, etc.
I was gonna say that. He coulda just Velcro’d the receiver instead of making more holes to the case & using them brackets
I did the arm already and love it! I haven't done the xlr drill yet, not confident with wiring connections until this vid!! thank you!
also saw this Powercon adapter, curious if this would work with the build: www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MOD-PCON--temple-audio-powercon-ac-main-micro-module?mrkgadid=3331288201&mrkgcl=28&mrkgen=gpla&mrkgbflag=0&mrkgcat=guitars&&acctid=21700000001645388&dskeywordid=92700046938601684&lid=92700046938601684&ds_s_kwgid=58700005283398317&ds_s_inventory_feed_id=97700000007215323&dsproductgroupid=373037010929&product_id=MOD-PCON&prodctry=US&prodlang=en&channel=online&storeid=&device=c&network=g&matchtype=&locationid=1016367&creative=332063179851&targetid=pla-373037010929&campaignid=1708733954&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI356DsOi06QIV4oNaBR08kAqrEAQYBCABEgLc5vD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
maybe this one with the screw mounts? www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/MOD-POUT--temple-audio-powercon-ac-out-micro-module
Cool video Barr. Hope to see final product. Case looks 'CRISPY'. Keep those videos coming bro. Stay safe & take care.

Hey great video going to build my on question how do you connect the con to the power bar?? Silly question
Great video Barr!! Please keep us posted on the finished product! 🔥🔥🔥
Very cool setup
Great job Barr!
For smooth surfaces, you can use a punch to mark where you want to start your drill.
Which cables did you used to connect the iphones cable
Where did you get the 1U brackets? that you used to keep the Mic Receiver from moving and center
Yes I like to know allso
@@GetYourDJNOW I found them on eBay
I could not find it, should be a v bracket that attaches from bottom of roadcase to the mic receiver Rack mount
Love it bro ❤
Barr, Did you finish this build. I am working on mine now. I just got a new case and I have an new to me used SX3.
What holds the controller in place, is it screwed in or just left to move and hit the laptop tray when in transit? Good vid though.
back/underside of the tray has a foam piece that sits right on top of the controller when closed.
Since you did this, any heat issues?
Best case mod vid. Thanks dude.
Thanks for the video brotha! Can’t wait to get started on my cases
Hey Barr what u think about the Denon 7000 controller? Any feedback in comparison with the pioneer 1000SRT controller?
MC7000 great controller works with Traktor, Serato, Virtual Dj, Cross DJ. Has a second sound card for back to back sets. Sounds great. I don't think Barr knows anything about the MC7000.
What is the size of the drill bit to install the XLR adapters holes
What did you use to connect the power on to your powerstrip?
I like those xlr costume build im thinking of doing that on mines also
i have the same case but the slide stand locks (if that is what they are) dont seem to do anything. do you use yours? you will see them on the sliding rail towards the back of the case.
"I believe in robots" Totally with you on that!

Is there a link for the cable that u plug the antenas plug into ??
Bro you need to get caps for those exposed xlr pieces
Yes, these are good to cover from dust and elements - www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/582621-REG/Neutrik_SCDX_Hinged_Cover_for_D_Size.html/?ap=y&ap=y&smp=y&smp=y&lsft=BI%3A514&gclid=CjwKCAjwkun1BRAIEiwA2mJRWQAlHKqb63lAXsgFPx0jEpz2dJCoJGcWW0D7_u3L5aj36rQm7-bY8BoCCVQQAvD_BwE
Nice bro! Jaja I though you ere spraying WD40 on the controller, I was like “what!”
I got a 7/8 spade bit but it’s not enough for the xlr adapters
Thx Barr !! Nice build and thx for video
Barr, I love "Tech Tuesday," but we need some sound fx on the intro bro.
Noted!
Aye he did it. Thanks for this! Really appreciated
Why not a drive rack I mean how do you eq and crossover your system?
That’s nice… I’m gonna do a similar mod to a few cases that I have… as far as the foam causing that cable to bend I would have just cut a slice in it to allow the cable to stick straight out…

Looks good dj bar ima get on also and do the same
There's something missing. What did you use to connect to the powercon inside the flight case, since you didn't snip the ac plugs on your power surger? Please I've been trying to figure it out.
I just pull it out of the case
You can xlr covers/plugs kepp them protected
How heavy is the case with the ddj
Does anybody know if this case would fit the Mixstream pro I can’t find a case for the Mixstream pro
Gave me some ideas for my SX case, thanks for the vid.
this was premiered on my birthday
Great case mod and video! Would like to suggest some Penn Elcom dishes to recess your connectors. Works great on live-in 4x12 guitar cab cases and protects your jacks.
IS THERE ANYWHERE WE CAN GO TO DO THIS OR DO YOU HAVE TO DO IT YOURSELF
?

Nice build! Where do you store the mic though?
I Sub
Great job! Enjoying your D.J. drop pack! How are you finding the transition to a controller. A few compromises ?
Well done looking good.
Nice job
Yo Barr.. I noticed that your ddj1000 says serato on it.. mine don't say that.. it says rekordbox...🤔🤔🤔
you can buy two ddj1000's one for rekordbox and one for serato
Thank you!! For this video 👌
What number Spade Drill Bit,
I got a nice low profile aftermarket USB Charger for my Macbook. Works just the same. Very stealthy.
Why are you not going to use the cdjs?
Anyone here know where I can get some inexpensive cases for my lights, I got some bulky lights and can’t seem to find some that are big enough
Nice Job. You could just say you don't want to do your builds like Rick Webb. We know you were referring to him. :) Keep it up Barr.
BTW, what is the email we can use to send you our setup pictures?
I did my case in 2018 when the DDj1000 first came out. My Led lights in my case I control with my phone, & my case has Bluetooth.
“I believe in robots” -Dj Barr, 2020
Tip use grease for the laptop tray! Will last longer that WD40
Get you one of these to plug into your power strip then all you need is a regular drop cord to power your flight case:
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07F6HVFH4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
dope
I did this and it was way to big now my case is crowded
Reminds me of the same Pro-X DJ Case I have for the DDJ-1000 SRT except its the non-Glide Style one
12:49 Why don't just cut the corner there. I'd do it no questions asked :P Why bother with extra cables because this little corner there?
Nice
Good
Pro tip: zip tie the iphone adapter to your aux cable.
Try graphite powder on the rails. It'll last longer then wd40 bro
I don't like all that tape holding the wires down🤔
10:08 seems a bit risky to put your hand there while that could slip in any moment
Why won’t anyone do a build for the den-sb3. Not everyone has a 1000… can someone please give us a sb3 pro x LT flight case.
Keep it up barrr
Not bad at all
Make your patch bay in the front....Cleaner look....
Dont use wd40. It is not a grease/lubricant and your shelf will go back to not being smooth shortly after. Petroleum jelly is an easy to find lubricant that will last for years.
Other then that great start to the build. Not really positive on the cables made by robots part. Pretty sure the top end hosa ones are hand assembled.
Hola mi estimado una sugerencia puedes hacer videos en Spanish gracias y bendiciones
Should have installed a Furman M8XT Merit series power conditioner. Strips don't filter AC.
Human made cables will always be better than robot made ones and a soldered connection is technically better then the connector you used because there is less resistance
12:50 or you could just remove some foam
Robots are better because they don't mistakenly make error but we humans do
HARBOR FREIGHT FOR THE WIN. Lol.
You may cut that foam if needed, it doesn't explode you know...
Brooo imagine if you accidentally grabbed the wd40 lol and sprayed it
A little late on this video comment but grab a decksaver for the ddj 1000! Thank me later. 😉
I know this vid is old af, but here's my two cents anyway

I'm i the only one that thinks its a bit weird. he drillt the xlrs but he still have a power cable, so that's xlr's are pretty much useless?
Barr the builder-english people know
so protective over very small details . what are you a virgo ?
You are throwing money away by not making cables, home made cables made by skilled people will always be better than factory ones as factories cut corners to keep costs down no matter how expensive the cables are, I work at a production company and we build everything because that is what professionals do and they never fail us
No! You compromise the whole reason for the case! This allows water and moisture to creep in!
Those cases are not designed to be water resistant even before drilling it. They are for impact resistance.
