It's amazing watching this video and seeing how my own prices evolved the way yours did. I started with a goal to DJ 10 events for free. Ironically, by the 3rd gig, I was going home with tips up to $300. I invested heavy in equipment 2 years ago and now, my starting rate is $1000. With uplights etc, I've charged up to $1800 for events. Thanks for sharing.
Best video about prizing anyone has made so far bro!!! Totally agree...don’t sell your equipment...sell the experience! Keep it up great content
I agree! I have been a DJ since 1982 and been a wedding DJ Since 5 years ago. I totally agree on everything my friend. We usé NEXO equipment and as you mention is a good tool and sort of a Sales aid because does not contaminate visually, but cant rely on it to charge More. Clients dont care as much. Greetings from Oaxaca.
Nice, now I know I need to raise my price lol
OC Lopez only if you’re decent
Awesome video Barr! Thank you for actually sitting down and discussing your pricing scheme and reasoning behind it. I hate when other DJ's just clamp up about this topic or won't even talk about it. Very useful information and pretty close to pricing here in Texas. Thank you for making these videos and rock on!
Thank you so much ! Vid was not too long, perfect in fact. We were toying with this notion, now we have a perfect slide rule thanks to you. 🔥🔥🔥
I'm gonna be getting into some weddings and random gigs this coming year so this info has been great. Awesome breakdown of how to price. Love the channel man appreciate all the great info you put out!!
Bro I'm just starting to DJ and you've been informative, I do it for the love of music, watching you is motivating.
Thanks Barr .
I agree 100 percent
I growing and hopefully will jack up these prices next year.
Great video. The value per minute of this video was off of the charts. This may be the most worth-my-time video you have created. Lots of insights.
I really appreciate this being a new going into the growing stage DJ in NY. I'm trying to to more of a mobile DJ than just a club DJ! Great insight
Great Video My Guy!! Really hit the nail on the head!
I see you droppib them gemz in this one! The comments about equipment, i totally agree with that!
You explain this better than any other video here bud. Great job. Keep the good videos bud
I love the last tip and it's so true...
If you client said yes that means your are not charging enough..
Amazing information and transparency for all of us navigating the pricing waters! I have no doubt you bring the heat for your skills and set up, and it’s a great mile-marker for the rest of us to aim for. 🤘🏽
Much needed Video for all Mobile DJ’s no matter what your current experience, pricing or services are. 👍🏼 I needed this.
Great content, this actually felt like a 2 minute video instead of 15. Very interesting!
Agreed. I don't see this side of DJs a lot.
Always coming with the goodies!
Let's go..!!! DJ Barr always has the know how and great content, love this channel..!!!
Thanks for the Info....you hit the nail right on the head starting DJ here and I charge $350 here in Florida. Very good info. TY DJ Barr
Thanks for all the tips!!! Love your videos
Once again another great and honest video by DJ Barr!!! Keep up the good work!!
Yep! This is the best pricing video on UA-cam so far. Prices in Perth, Australia are similar. I’m cruising around $1200-2000 per event.
Awesome video man! I believe everything you said is accurate and spot on! Couldn't agree more! Keep up the good work and love your channel!
My most common package is $1,500 for a 5hr wedding with 2 setups (ceremony & reception) and basic lighting. Monograms, up-lighting and glow totem w/moving heads are extra. I sometimes throw one of those in to seal the deal.
Yep. That is exactly what I’m at. We’ve got a few folks charging $400 for 5 hours. If they try to get me down on price, it’s a wedding I don’t want anyway.
Do you charge for setting up?
I include setup & teardown in the price & make sure to tell them that the price includes the setup & teardown. This makes them feel like they are getting more value for their money.
Thanks for keeping it real. You’ve been of great help
Great info Mr. Barr Entertainment!! Your spreading the knowledge👊🏽
Thanks A lot for the valuable information Barr, Your the best to watch and wish you much success in the new coming year.
Tremendously helpful video! Thank you so much DJ Barr!! ❤🙏
I was literally just think about this then UA-cam gives me a notification and it was a video about pricing 🤗 thank you dj Barr
Another great video Barr, keep giving us useful information. It was nice meeting you also .
Great video! It took me 2 years to figure out what you just explained. I wish you had this video out sooner, would have made my life so much easier. spent so much time and money in consultation. Now working on Advertising my services.
Thank you for the info, it's been 30 years since I DJ'd. I used to be good a long time ago and I'm getting back into the flow. Once I retire from the job that I have, then I will be DJing full-time.
This is a very honest and insightful video. Lots to think about for sure. Continued success your way. Thank you for sharing.
This is accurate in my opinion. Good video DJ Barr!
Thank you for your transparency. Hard to find here on UA-cam!
great information as usual. I'm a beginner DJ in the Southeast and I've been charging between $200-$300 for birthday and holiday parties.
Dude This is a master class for entertaiment business in general not only for DJ. Great value info. Thanks!!
Thank you for this amazing content. Very helpful def for sure. Much appreciated brother.
Thank you Barr, a lot of insight. On long island N. Y. competition is thick. As a solo venture not doing weddings I seem to be in your beginner column. Thanks again for all your great content! Dj Joe Moscato
Nice job explaining this!
Been djng for about 12 years now and you pretty much explained my whole timeline from beginning to end. I'm getting$1000-$1300 for weddings in metro Detroit. No photo booth or "dancing on clouds nimbus" lol. But I do spend most of my time (5-6 nights a week) doing karaoke shows at local bars in my area. To me it's been a lot more satisfying and way less stressful than djng! ...DJ Larry D
Excellent break down. Thanks for the clarity.
Great video man. Great tips!
Great video! Being REALISTIC about your ability is soooooo crucial!
Spot on, brother. Good advice for people who have to ask this question.
Good stuff! Thank you for the info!
Awesome video for a beginner like me. it's been only 1 year I've been djing and I didn't no if I was charging the write price thanks to your video I feel a lot better...thanks man....
Thanks for the video big dogg, I can see the dedication and effort u put in to these well explained clips. Every time I watch a new clip I learn something new 🙏
Excellent video about pricing!.
Love your transparency and honesty on how much do you charge for event.
Thank you for the content, very helpful.
🔥🎧😎🎧🔥
Great video my market area is pretty cheap around 1,000 bucks and lower but this video helped me understand the steps to take up make alil more and where I should be with experience
Thanks for being honest BARR. Not everybody puts it all out there like you do.
DJ Barr great content in this video! I really am glad that I stumbled acrossed it today!
Mr. Barr been following you for quite a while now; but this is the video that compelled me to comment;
Thanks for the information, thanks for the transparency;
I feel that most dj don’t like to disclose the prices and that in the end hurts all because we end up under pricing fear of the competition lower prices;
Thanks for making me realize that I need to charge more...
See you around
Thank you for this video, nice to know someone put it the same view as me. Best video about pricing.
Great job Bro, very informative, entertaining and well edited.
Great video man!👍
Your channel is amazing bro, im a startup DJ and u inspired me to make a clean a** setup. You also give sick MC tips that help me overcome the stress before going on mic. I use “avicii-levels” when I first talk on the mic like you 😂 respect bro keep it up
Good stuff bro! As a beginner, This is very helpful. It’s a hobby for me, but I still wanna do things professionally whenever its time to do my thing!
Very eye opening. Thank you for the video ✌🏼
Good insight bro. Thank you for being honest and open.
Love how you get people hooked with the thumbnail! Doing it for the views!
Great Video....the information was on point!!!!!
Fantastic video man. I've spent the last seven+ years traveling all over the country doing everything from clubs and bars to birthdays and bbq's to weddings and tradeshows. I've literally uprooted and moved because the economy wasn't/stopped being friendly to my hustle or because the competition became like walking barefoot through a tarpit.
One thing that REALLY factors in here is cost of living v.s. wage. For Example, if in the Bay Area in CA the minimum wage is $14.50/hr, I would charge more than if I were in say, southern MO where the minimum wage is below $10/hr.
Researching the economy/cost of living v.s. wage is a great thing to take into consideration alongside shopping the competition. That's a powerhouse combo for determining your estimates.
Another home run. 🔥 good advice.
Finally someone that breaks this topic down in a way a makes sense
I watched this great video a few times. Thanks again.
This was 100% as accurate as I've heard thus far. I'm in Arizona and I'm at around 1.2 - 1.5 K per wedding event to start. I'm not the cheapest but I'm definitely not the most expensive. You need to know your value and look at it like Barr says by setting a realistic goal. Nice VLOG Barr! Great Info!"
such an insightful and educational content for any professionals...the module can be applied by any chartered accountants, doctors, lawyers, teachers, writers, singers, dancers, etc ...great content.
Your best video ever!! EXTREMELY informative,,even for me and I live in Montreal, Quebec! Thanks Brother,,,
Very helpful and been djing for about 8 months now and charge sometimes anywhere from $0-$200 house parities and venues CA ORANGE COUNTRY AREA
Great video as always
Thanks for the info BARR!!
You said equipment doesn't matter, that is a great point..!!! Great Video .. I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS
Nice, this was useful info. Thanks coming from Cali.
I just started DJ ing & bought all name brand stuff & love it! No I don't charge extra for it, but peace of mind & quality over competition definitely has me getting gigs I probably wouldn't have had prior. It's a sunk cost in business 101. You needed it, you got it, the money's gone, now on to persuing the gigs!
I’m a retired wedding DJ. I agree with everything except the equipment. Equipment most definitely does matter as long as you have the skills to make it matter. If someone pays $1200 for a DJ and they show up with crappy equipment you probably won’t be booked by future brides at the show. Also the clients won’t look at you as the best choice. Remember, clients who pay $1200+ for a DJ also paid good money for the venue, flowers & decorations. If you show up with low grade equipment you are also downgrading the the appearance in the venue. Plus it also downgrades the production and you’re performance. I’m not going to say I don’t see it happening. My company changed into a Audio Visual company so I go to setup a projector and see a DJ at a nice venue with trashy cheap equipment and it takes the premium out of the venue. Equipment matters. When I was DJing my equipment without lighting and extras cost $25000. Now that’s not required, I wanted the best but it looked professional and sounded amazing. My presentation meant a lot to me mostly because I didn’t want to be the guy with the equipment that was the eyesore in the room.
Great Video BARR!
Needed to hear this thanks bro.
This was your best gig log of all times! You nailed it!
East Texas isn’t a very wealthy area for DJs. I started out exactly like you...exactly! For weddings the average is between $400 and $600.
I try to size up my clients before I give them a price. That works very well. I do not want them to shop. I usually indicate that if they choose me by the end of the week, their implied discount would be in effect. After that it’s a regular price. Thanks again.
@@djmannyleon9204 I know alot of my business comes from facebook. It's a great tool to do some research and see what kind of budget people are working with considering their careers and disposable income. But also find out where you were recommended from so that you do not over exceed their expectations.
Nice breakdown
I’m in small town Wisconsin it’s been hard to start and get my name out there and grow with 15 companies in the area I charge a lower rate than most in the area and slowly been growing in the past 5 years videos from you and rick Webb have helped me so much and I can’t thank you guys enough
Jacob, I started in lil' ol' Marinette, WI. Now working the Madison/Milwaukee market. We should meet up sometime.
Great video brother! Thanks for the transparency & awesome info! Have you done or could you Do a video on the different business structures you've seen in the industry.. How you have your business structured? How you get to work with the different multi ops in your area & around the country?
Thanks for all you do for the industry! 🙌💪✊🎉
Great vid Barr! I feel good that I am operating just about exactly how you describe. I am starting-my 6th year in the wedding game and my pricing structure is very similar to yours. Not my full time gig but still doing approximately 20-30 weddings per year. Loving it is the key!
Great content bro. Very informative for all Djs.
Very realistic info! Thumbs up BARR
Good stuff dude!
I am a new dj and your profile is a good base of what i charge and hope to charge in the future
Great Video Barr! More of the business end is always great
I live in South Jersey him a new/kind a have experienced DJ still learning a lot of things and I have a day job to make sure I don’t fall behind to take care of my family. Still trying to find a little niches to keep my sets running smooth and keep myself focused and stay practicing so I can get the next gig.
Well put together & strong applicable info bro.
Thanks for this info it has shed light onto everything. Here in South Africa we getting between $180 and $500 for a wedding.
Spot on vid. Good job. 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
Thanks for the video
It's hard to put pricing in a box like that but you did a great job. I'd say your pricing is pretty on point. Liking the new top-down method. Keep em coming bro! #dirtyjerz
Thanks for being so honest.
Great video on the topic
very good, video bro. Thank you for sharing!!
