The Hawthorne Effect is the inclination of people who are the subjects of an experimental study to change or improve the behavior being evaluated only because it is being studied and not because of changes in the experiment parameters or stimulus.
Reminds me of the Panopticon: a hypothetical prison built in a circle where there is a guards spot in the middle. The guard can potentially see every cell but they can't see the guard. The prisoners behave well since they never know if the guard is watching them at the moment or not.
This is from the heart. If I'm going to be honest with you. In my own humble opinion without being biased or offending anyone, without being sentimental and by looking at the matter from a neutral distinct opinion. I would like to say that I have nothing to say...
Honestly learning this 20+years ago stuck with me and made me realize that so many political and managerial initiatives only appear to succeed because of the Hawthorne effect
The results of the Hawthorne studies enhanced our understanding of what motivates individuals in the workplace. They indicate that in addition to the personal economic needs emphasized in the classical era, social needs play an important role in influencing work-related attitudes and behaviors.👏
It's not that Clever Hans knew he was being tested or changed his natural behavior because he was being watched. It's that when asked a math question he simply tapped his hoof until the owner's expressions of anticipation turned to excitement, relief, and pride as Clever Hans reached the correct number in the math problem, and that's when Hans would stop tapping. I wouldn't say that this is an example of the Hawthorn effect. It's more just that animals can read non-verbal queues from humans, and Clever Hans was probably better at that than most other horses.
Subcribing to support such talent! Not only you are a great artist and scientist but you have amazing teaching skills as well. This video helped me lot!
The definite answer to how to prevent Hawthorne effect is so simple but not easy because the mediocre researchers always forgot the fact that in order to conduct a research with their own genuine sincere care about the research that they're doing, they have to remember the fact that they should not always tell the awareness to the subjects. I know it sounds unethical or unconsenting but they have to remember that genuine experiments' results only emerged when there's little to no alterations from the subjects themselves
Great to see you working on your channel again Thiel! Looking forward to it's growth an amazing content!

Too political 🙄

I think it’s more interesting to see who people become when no one’s watching.

That’s interesting... it makes sense that we would alter our behavior when being observed. Sending health and wellness to everyone!
Only if you’re watching 😉
🙏🏾❤
Since Facebook, google, world governments and others observe everything we do digitally we should all be more productive than ever
@@JayC_x Yes, but only if we’re conscious that we’re being observed, presumably.

Kompier (2006) questions Hawthorne effect. It shows the effect is not what we expect.

Anyone here read the "Clever Hans" fairy tale? It's a combo of really dark and really funny
i didn't understand what's written in my textbook and i watched the video. still didn't understand. i'm just dumb or need to study english more.
Or you need to be observed (Hawthorne effect);). Just kidding. Give it a multiple reads. Some topics just need extra attention
Annonymous studies may reduce Hawthorn effect
Wait did he say a horse answered math questions? How? Did i hear that right?
