Good shit bro.. 💯 thanks
Thank you so much! I’m so glad your enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
I don’t got that. Ima needa make more money to pay people to do that… you’re great.
Remember to press down with atleast 50 pounds of pressure to assure a good bond
That is an awesome tip, I've never heard an exact pressure but it's really helpful to have one. Thanks so much for the tip and for watching!
I can still hear my old boss yelling that into my ear while im setting tile floors haha 😄😆😂 good times
I like to start at the door cause you get full pieces at the most visible spot. Makes job harder and maybe even 2 days. But will look good
But don't you block yourself in? Can't walk on freshly laid tiles.
@@nigilaguirre7275 you do half of bathroom at time
I third that.
1/2”x1/2” for large format tile.
Hopefully you’re okay. Also don’t think you need that many levelers. And that drill should be around 300 rpms. You wanna mix Schluter slow. Great video though practice makes perfect.
Agreed I should have picked up a larger trowel but I think everything worked out alright. The DITRA and back buttering helped me out a lot, but for anyone trying your own, definitely go with the 1/2”x1/2”. I also think I don’t need quite as many spacers but there not hurting anything and made me feel better for this first one. Great tip on the mixer are you saying 300 rpms on the mixer should be good or I should go even slower? Thanks again for the tips and for the encouragement I really appreciate it. Have a great one!
I always use ½" trowel for all 12x12 or bigger tile, just makes the job a lot easier. Floors are never perfectly level.
1/4”x1/4” trowel? Better not be. Its always good to lift a tile after setting it to check for coverage. Should be 85%+ on the floor in a dry area. Large format tile need a 1/2”x1/2” trowel or maybe one step down if the floor is prepped well.
Wouldn't a spacer at every intersection be enough?
That’s a great question, yes I think that would work just fine, maybe add one more in the center of the 24” seems, just to be safe. I think I went a bit overkill with the spacers but it wasn’t much more work, spacers are cheep, and it gave me more peace of mind as the mortar was setting up so I don’t regret the extra ones. I hope that helps and thanks so much for watching and for the question!
I love watching people trying to set tile! Why can't guys scoop the thinset out with the trowel you are using
I think it probably comes down to experience, as I become more proficient with tiling hopefully I won't need to use a smaller tool to scoop like I did here, but for now it was a helpful and made the job more manageable for me. The other aspect I cringe at while watching myself work in this video, is that I always stick the trowel in the bucket of thin-set when I'm not using it instead of resting it on top and keeping it clean. It was just one of those things I didn't think about at the time but after watching more experienced tile setters work, it seems like such a simple and effective fix. I really look forward to my next tiling job and to using what I learned from this job. Thanks so much for watching and for your comment!
wrong trowel size, 1/2 inch.
