I don't know why Menē stamps 24K in their Platinum jewelry. Karats are for gold only as per the jewelry standards. It should be .999
That's very true, and it can also cause identity problems later. Gold is the ONLY metal identified in karats, as in 9K, 10K, 14K, 18K, 22K, ETC. Those marks by themselves dont have to say "Gold" on the piece, as it is assumed by that mark to mean it is gold.
Platinum is never marked by Karats, as it is always marked by the 3 digit number showing the proportion of platinum to the small amount of similar metal alloy such as iridium or ruthenium. It should always say something like .950, or other 3 digit form, depending on the proportion of platinum to alloy. Most of them also say Plat, and can also include the identity of the alloy metal used, such as the ruthenium used in older jewelry, or Iridium (Irid) used currently. Sometimes it even includes the percentage of alloy, such as 10%. So, if others tend to look at this ring as not being a platinum wedding band, and insists that it's marked as if it's gold, particularly white gold, don't be at all surprised that your assertion is challenged. I have no idea why Mene would choose to mark their platinum jewelry this way, because it certainly falls outside of the actual legal standards of doing so.

@@ricois3 - The molds used to cast metals are not produced that way as far as I've ever seen or heard. The metals usually need to be confirmed of quality before they can be marked for their quality. The only exception I can think of are the very small ones used to produce the ingots sold just for their quality, like the small .999 gold bars used for collecting. They are filled with liquid gold that has already been verified as to content and purity. Stamping the quality on the bigger bars only takes a striking of a hammer on the top of the marking device used to stamp its mark into the face of the metal. It's not like it's a very expensive process to do that. It's basically the same process used to stamp the karat/carat mark inside a ring, or the little tag hanging on the clasp of a necklace.
I like their products but will not purchase until they are consistent with universal pure platinum hallmark standards.
Platinum is usually indicated as Plat or PT followed by a purity indicator, usually 900 or 950 and rarely 999. Karats (KT or K) is used for gold so "24K" platinum is a non-standard marking.

PL in bullion is generally marked 99,5 or .9999 and = 24K. This is nothing new, you just don't hear much about Platinum, it's scarce and even bullion dealers can't keep it stalked.
I concur that MENE should add the the Periodic-Table symbol of "PL" however.
Sal get your ring XRF tested . i bought a 5 gram gold cube from them and had it tested and it was only 23.29k not 24k . .970 pure . or 3% less than advertised i guess 24k is vague enough and probably why they don't stamp it with the actual decimal purity .

Got my first piece of 24K MENE last month...

I got 12 pieces from them. Def utilize their referal system. I easily got over 100 friends to do referalls. That's $500 in free platinum and gold. Plus each piece can be reviewed for another $5 credit. I ended up getting a free #1 platinum charm just from reviewing my 12 items. I love them.
Platinum rings are durable. However platinum dulls easily. I don't remember platinum purity being measured in karats.......

Platinum doesn’t come in karats. It comes in numbers like silver! It comes in .950 or .999! Also if it where white gold it wouldn’t be 24k. White gold has to be mixed with other metals to make it white. Purity only goes to 18k and possibly 22k for white gold!

I'm surprised it doesn't have a indicator inscribed as well. If you didn't know it was platinum, you would have to have it tested because it could very well be 24k palladium or rhodium... The thing with gold is, its the only gold coloured metal so no indicator needed besides the fineness.

Platinum is not measured in carats.. Pure platinum is 1000 of 1000 parts pure, whereas the most common alloy used is 950/1000 parts pure.

This was beautiful... never thought I'd say this, but I actually liked the rough edges - looked rugged and masculine, almost like it was cut from a stock bar of platinum from the reserve. Platinum is definetely the discerning enthusiasts choice...elegant and full of character.

It may just be the camera but it looks like it has a lot of burrs around the edges, does it? Still looks great and those burrs, if they are really there, should wear off as you wear it.

It should have platinum engraved right after or before he24k engraving; but, it’s yours, also an engraving of the weight in grams would be nice; if you’re considering it as part of your stack;those extra engravings might make it to expensive though? Would be interesting to see what those modifications would cost if a jeweler was willing to do it and guaranteed to make it look “factory”, as if it were not an alteration!! Nevermind

I'm getting married and I picked out platinum as our metal bands 1. it looks cool 2. I have enough skin problems and platinum is generally considered safe from allergies. My late brother was allergic to metal like he put his belts tape on and his watch (his watch made of leather but four metal pierced the leather, wow it's a long ass story but if he wore metal he would break out. I'm allergic to cheap shit as well but he was worse.

It is DEFINITELY NOT handcrafted. It would be much more expensive but much better quality if it was.
That is just cast and they only cut the sprues. Quality of the polish is abysmal. At least it's cheap...

@@SalivateMetal Honestly, with their ridiculously low markups (they're really good value, btw, I'm not hating) I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't touched by any hands at all. Only machined.
But what probably happens is they cast, cut the sprues where the metal enters the mold, the mold lines, and that's it. Maybe polished in the tumbler.
It's not mirror polished like platinum should be if it was constructed and finished by hand. Or even cast and finished by hand like I would do for most 950 platinum rings.
Honestly, I would be VERY interested to see how they make their stuff
Horse manure! As w/ MENE, they don't water-down AU & PL with cheap crap alloys and charge twice as much. Now with MENE's 24K Gold & 24K Platinum, you GET twice thee amount of Gold with almost only half the price as the std Jeweler would charge.
