Mr. Enthusiast represents exactly why most of us like watches. It’s the design language that attracts us to spend ridiculous amount of money on these small redundant objects. Although I appreciate the science and innovation that goes behind every calibre, but it’s actually the “looks” of these watches that matter most.
East end London colloquial term for a man or ‘bloke’ Usually with an inference towards coolness or friendliness For me anyone who is into watches within reason is a geezer Casio or journe
Time 13:28 - Why did they highlight the battery hold down when they were speaking about the tuning fork? Didn't Jack review this before publishing? Sloppy.
I can’t see how these watches have anything to do with being a solid, regular bloke on the street in England. But the man has great taste in watches. So it’s good!
The only remotely Geezer watch is the gold Patek, due to it being gold, on a bracelet, faintly feminine so to wear one & get away with it , one has to be a bit of a Geezer ( see Keith Richards and his panthere).
Delightful discussion. Geezers, to clarify for non-UK viewers, is a regional phrase from London with many different meanings and connotations, good and bad, largely dependent on context. Mr Enthusiast is a geezer with a lovely watch collection but is definitely not a geezer.
Geezer is a confident attitude, a "Geezer" will select a watch to wear to differentiate himself from the pack. He'll wear clothes and watches of considered taste that generate interest. A Geezer is an extension of Mod, it's all in the attention to detail. You'll always notice a geezer in the pub as they subtly stand out.
I don’t think a geezer watch is just constrained to the 70s era, maybe it seems that way today since we are 50+ years removed. I think you nailed it when talking about something that is ostentatious, like yellow gold or diamonds/gem set, etc, but in a classy stealth wealth sort of way, not a showy way like a rapper or Tony Soprano.
two things: 1) we should not overlook the massive role that the substance with chemical formula C17H21NO4 played in the 70's - including its effect on design and fashion. you can see it clearly in 'geezer' watches. 2) esthetic periods in design always seem more cohesive in hindsight because more leftfield elements fade into obscurity.
I completely disagree with the notion of the’70s as a halcyon period of design! But, I have to confess that there are some beautiful watches that almost demand a scripted response of, “It’s not a bracelet, it’s a watch…I like to keep track of the time!”
A geezer is a bloke who is a bit of a lad who enjoys the banter and a good laugh. A bit dodgy, he’d have tattoos and more than likely would have a snide gold Rolex. The watches in this video would definitely not be worn by a top geezer.
"Geezer" sounds completely wrong when it's said by anyone other than a man from East London or Essex. Sorry but Phil is way too well-spoken to use this word! It's like King Charles saying "fuggedaboutit".
@@malcolmmartin3206 I agree….but as a watch hound, I also know other people would listen to all the talk in the watch community, and conclude ..’it doesn’t matter’ (if the word ‘superlative’ is red on the dial of a given vintage Rolex….for example)…hahaha too funny….we are all in glass houses..
Not at all! geezers I knew back then would be wearing a gold plated watch. the Speedy would be a middle class watch and there were certainly no middle class or influencer types who would be termed a geezer but rather instead Ponces!

Exactly. A highly complex and technological marvel of a caliber/movement is meaningless if the watch is ugly.
these two geezers have great chemistry together
The Statler and Waldorf of watches🤣
Neither are geezers. Both a bit soft.
A joy to watch/listen. Jack is a true master in the craft and Phil added a good mix of comedy into it. Looking forward to a Part II!
i have an iwc portugeezer, does that count? (ok, that one was lame, i apologize ☺️)
love a dad joke, I think everyone in the comment section would agree.
@ glad to know i‘m not alone 😅

Casio or journe
Yeah….but in the rest of the ‘anglosphere’ it is a crotchety old guy….
To Brits, a geezer is just a chill guy, if a slightly dodgy one and or fun time guy.
Yes geeze
The godfather of the geezers himself !!! Amazing collection
Time 13:28 - Why did they highlight the battery hold down when they were speaking about the tuning fork? Didn't Jack review this before publishing? Sloppy.
For the understanding of a Geezer refer to " Only Fools and Horses."
Del Boy was the ultimate Geezer.
The Rolex puffer vest is a geezer. Love it 😂
content of the year
This was so good. First time I cared more about the conversation and humor than the watches!
I can’t see how these watches have anything to do with being a solid, regular bloke on the street in England.

Well that was pretty flirtatious.
A very entertaining and thought-provoking chat. Thank you.
love the interaction of these two geezers, pls have tgem back to talk about stone dial watches
Is the apartment behind you; with windows level with the top of the couch, on fire?
Geezer gatekeeping 🙌🏼 😂 👴 Super interesting watches and conversation.
On the ‘head on’ shots, there appears to be a raging fire in the building across the street (lower right window)….
What the...😲!!!!???? You can barely hear sirens as well!!!!
LOL I think that's the light show in the windows of the Breitling boutique across the street
They love talking to this guy
Great conversation
The gold patek is amazing to see. Thanks for sharing that was so cool to see.
More like this, authentic nerds!

"collecting should be about who you are, not who everyone else is"
more fun ones like this w Jack... with open-ended questions
Brilliant stuff. Thank you Jack and Phil. Simon
To me a Geezer is relative to either Ronnie or Reggie Kray. Look them up if you don’t know.
Great episode, very natural conversation 👌🏼
I want more! 😁
What is the model of the Patek at 26:45?

This is a masterclass on how to have a conversation
Hi geezer's! I believe the chairs you are referring to are by Olivier Mourgue.😁

I guess a Geezer watch is like Classic Rock. At some point both were contemporary and modern. 😂
A geezer is a working class guy from east London. That’s what it is. People don’t like the term because of that reason. I agree with them.
What, you don’t like working class guys?
They could as well discuss any topic and it would be equally enjoyable.
Mr enthusiasm reminds me of Hugh Grant without the underlying meanness

Jack just back from duck hunting
Strangely, I was not able to see the lower half of Jack's body in any of the footage
Hello there
These are the Yacht Rock of watches. Great talk!
10:26
What's a bloke watch then?
That’s a steel Sports watch with steel bracelet to hit someone over the head 😂
The definition of a geezer is the polar opposite of these two gents … I’m sure we can think of the personification in the world of watches ;)
I completely disagree with the notion of the’70s as a halcyon period of design! But, I have to confess that there are some beautiful watches that almost demand a scripted response of, “It’s not a bracelet, it’s a watch…I like to keep track of the time!”
The geezer watch should really be kitted out with some after-market diamonds from Hatton Garden. [taps nose conspiratorially]
Cue Chaz & Dave. Rabbit, rabbit...
Geezer entropy at its finest.
I need this leather strap!
the unfortunate meeting of mike nouveau HAHAH
Jack was wearing a Rolex down vest 😅
The Cartier Tank is the Grandfather of the Geezer Watch.👴
The RO is also one imho
Very spiffy watches. You have great taste.
A Geezer is mates before muff. The Geezer watch is a first gen Rolex yacht, master
My friend Turtle has a Patek.
Quirky watches but the lack of information and detail in this video is frustrating. How are we supposed to do our research?
A geezer is a bloke who is a bit of a lad who enjoys the banter and a good laugh. A bit dodgy, he’d have tattoos and more than likely would have a snide gold Rolex.
The watches in this video would definitely not be worn by a top geezer.
Why is Phil wearing a shoelace as a belt?
Mr. Forster, wearing a Rolex vest, not wearing a watch
he couldn't be less of a geezer
By the way, a geezer does need to be a bit dodgy. Probably drives an old Jag, and wears a Trilby.😁
I don't know why it bothers me that Jack isn't wearing a watch. 🤔
In his defense, he was wearing the Cartier that was on the table! We had him take it off for b-roll purposes.
Watching this on a Sunday morning. Couldn’t ask for more.
Rolling up pant legs and wearing that kind of belt, I’m definitely not into geezer watches 😂
leather strap=geezer
almost fell asleep
So sad that we get to watch a watch collector who knows everything and educates us. 😂
"Geezer" sounds completely wrong when it's said by anyone other than a man from East London or Essex.
Sorry but Phil is way too well-spoken to use this word! It's like King Charles saying "fuggedaboutit".
Geezer watch or boomer watch, is a watch that an adult wears that is not on the current 24 hour trending cycle being worn by some influencer kid
This whole show is about the Geezer Watch “trend” 😂
Not all geezers are boomers and not all boomers are geezers.
@@deucecaddyso again you will find it trendy until an influencer tells you to like something else
This is like watching a really bad first date where both people are great just not for each other and trying too much
That’s what I was thinking too. Almost like they’re flirting.
Anyone else sensing an awkward passive aggressiveness between these two?
What a steaming pile of self-indulgence
3:58 and I’m out. Zzzzz
Clearly you are not a "movement person". If you were, you wouldn't be selling a Chinese-made, Sellita SW100 POS, for $4K. 😬
Unwatchable. Sorry.
Jack - who seems so knowledgeable on watches - appears to need some lessons on how to dress….camo pants, and a blue puffer vest? Seriously???
I know. It should not matter but it is distracting to see a man of that age wearing ludicrous trousers.

A speedy, that's definitely a geezer watch
