Here's a funny story for you, Barbo. Despite my Adam avatar, I am a woman. Back in the mid 1970s when I still had my first horse I was dating a guy that also had a horse, and we boarded at the same farm. He always bragged that "NO ONE else could ride his horse...." Well, one day we were to meet up at the farm for a trail ride. I got my own horse in and -when he was a bit late - I decided to get his horse in, too. 'Bandit' always looked pretty quiet to me, and totally 'rideable' so I mounted him out in the field - it was a longish walk back to the barn and I'd already done it once, so - using only his halter to steer and stop I nudged him into a gallop. He was fine, and stopped very easily when I pulled back on his halter, as I approached the gate, and continued to it at a walk.....I NEVER told that guy about that, but always smiled when he made the same 'claim' about his 'unrideable' horse to other people ! LOL...
Thank you! Thank you! For someone like me, who knows NOTHING about horses, tack, etc. this was great. But I have a few questions. 😊 Having never been around horses, I have often wondered if the different types of horses "ride" differently. For example, if Buck's canter would feel different from Cochise's canter? Could someone use their saddle on various horses, and would it feel the same? Did Sport toss his head because he was spirited, or did he just like to toss his head? Thanks for mentioning that Sport could have benefited from a certain piece of equipment (can't remember what it is called). Why do you think Pernell didn't use it? Really enjoyed this video, as I do all of your work.
