I am a big Cockburn fan. But I remember buying this album and hearing this song for the first time. Musically just passable, but such a disappointment lyrically. How did this great Candian poet go from to the awesome "Waves can't break without rocks that dissolve into sand We can't dance without seasons upon which to stand Eden is a state of rhythm like the sea Is a timeless change Turn your eyes to the world where we all sit and dream" to the awful "I ride and I shoot and I play guitar, and I like my life just fine if you try to take one of these things from me then you're no friend of mine"
Well he kinda did -- it's just that the "regular" radio stations didn't give it the attention it deserved (ir play it at all); but the better ones did!

I love Cockburn, and this is a great song, but this is one of the worst videos on the planet. UGH.
This one’s a bit Graceland-y, no? So underrated. A shame he never crossed over to the States.
