Not only that, a world-class guitarist. I've seen him in front of 5000 people with an acoustic guitar and no band, holding the audience transfixed with just his playing. That's something you don't know from this video, because this is a full band arrangement. He can burn up the frets and amaze people.
My husband and I had a meet and greet with him after a show. We took a photo. He is a real gentleman and of course a very talented musician. Love, a fan
Great song. Is a bit brighter than a lot of Bruce’s material. Not that he doesn’t have a lot of insightful messages. He’s just got a literary fist in a velvet glove and a hope for a better world.
A terrific song - and a terrific dream. This was from my favourite Cockburn album. Until DART TO THE HEART came out. Then that was my favourite. Until THE CHARITY OF NIGHT came out. And that remains one of my top ten albums by anyone. Cockburn: one of the five best songwriters working.
Well you wanted obscure, and you got it. Even the Canadian stations didn't pick this one up and he's from Canada. A few of his song floated across the border via Toronto radio; but I don't recall it and neither do any of my friends. Really good though.
Me too heard him doing a solo gig @ a winery one hot night in Saratoga CA. He produced some of the heat himself with his guitar licks and wonderful vocals...so yeah I've heard him many times when I lived in SF Bay Area.

And he still does. Saw him a few months ago and he is still a rare talent on guitar.
This is still my favorite Bruce Cockburn album. Timeless.
Oh man!...Nashville in June!!!! I can't wait!
Nobody writes a song like Bruce!
From my favorite Cockburn album Nothing But a Burning Light, so damn good all the way through.
It's a masterpiece.
that canadian guy is greatly underestimated and talent that could only been given by God
When this fantastic song failed to chart I knew rock was dead..😂
Great song!
I've had the opportunity to hear him live and he's the real deal. Fantastic singer/songwriter!

I have also seen Bruce about 5 times live! Actually, I first heard this song for the first time back in 1995. I have a fan ever since.

A dream like ours...
love this song
I think that I saw him, in 1984, in Dekalb, IL, playing songs from his Stealing Fire" Album!!! => An AWESOME Show, at the "Egyptian Theater"!!!
Me too heard him doing a solo gig @ a winery one hot night in Saratoga CA. He produced some of the heat himself with his guitar licks and wonderful vocals...so yeah I've heard him many times when I lived in SF Bay Area.
good stuff, thanks
Prescience with great musicianship

Nothing But A Burning Light is a masterpiece. Every Canadian school should be showing this to our kids, but, our government doesn't want the truth.

Hey Jimmy
BC is best when he stays away from politics. This song is sublime.
One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.
-Plato
I think this song is political in the very best sense.
@@seansmith3058 More spiritual than political.
Fantistic word smith. I don't understand ?he seems to be hidden in the U.K.
