It could've crippled private pensions, and still might. State pensions are nowhere near enough to cover living expenses now - it could've genuinely (and could still) f*ck a bunch of companies owned by pension funds, f*ck anyone holding private pensions (most people nowadays) and put millions of pensioners into poverty.

He was energetic and full of charisma, even as he was about to leave the job he truly loved so much. He’s a talented speaker who can hold his own. Many MP’s and supporters were there surrounding him. Then a few hours later I listened to what sounded like a dying bird caught in a fishing line when Liz Truss stood in front of the same lacquered door. Her first remarks were underwhelming, and didn’t instill any confidence. In fact it was sad. I just couldn’t understand why a confident leader like Boris Johnson had to be replaced with dying bird lady. Even the Queen was known to favor Boris - Zelensky as well! Then I heard about his “scandals.” Turns out during Covid restrictions Boris attended 2 social events. Seriously?? That’s it?? Our President Trump literally incited an insurrection & massive riot at the Capital! If the UK wants stability at this perilous time then bring back Boris Johnson who has the experience & expertise to lead.

@@jameshartley5070 It has been standing for years. The 12 month no-challenge rule is not new - Boris resigned as the party threatened to remove this rule to try and get rid of him for a second time in a year.

I think you also have to consider the possibility that she might choose to resign. If she can’t command support from the country, her MPs and her cabinet I see that she would be under immense pressure.
This should surely trigger a general election, as I'm not sure public will a accept a prime minister replacement after such a short time.
@@arlenehiles2689 as far as I understand the power to select the PM would remain with the Conservatives and they are extremely unlikely to go for an general election when they are doing so poorly in the polls. I would think the only real chance we would get an early general election is if the Conservatives split and are unable to select a PM who could command a majority in Parliament.

American here 🇺🇸. I watched and listened on the morning Boris Johnson left #10 to meet the Queen at Balmoral. He was energetic and full of charisma, even as he was about to leave the job he truly loved so much. He’s a talented speaker who can hold his own. Many MP’s and supporters were there surrounding him.
Then a few hours later I listened to what sounded like a dying bird caught in a fishing line when Liz Truss stood in front of the same lacquered door. Her first remarks were underwhelming, and didn’t instill any confidence. In fact it was sad.
I just couldn’t understand why a confident leader like Boris Johnson had to be replaced with dying bird lady. Even the Queen was known to favor Boris - Zelensky as well! Then I heard about his “scandals.” Turns out during Covid restrictions Boris attended 2 social events. Seriously?? That’s it?? Our President Trump literally incited an insurrection & massive riot at the Capital!
If the UK wants stability at this perilous time then bring back Boris Johnson who has the experience & expertise to lead.
Johnson: "My policies can damage the country."
Truss: "I don't even need to pass policies for that!"
I wonder if the Downing St cat has any plans, that would be an improvement.

What's odd? Populism had become the lifeblood of policy direction. Stoke a culture war and when it matures you pitch the policy that chimes. Johnson was an expert at just such strategy. Lt is not remotely that skilled and as a result will crash and burn very quickly.

I have no idea what Labour has done to the British people in the past, but the Conservatives are clearly the worse choice with negotiating the Brexit and everything else afterwards. You can always kick foreigners out of the UK after implementing sensible policies that help the population.

We can't just "kick foreigners out of the UK" and that's not what the Tories were elected for. Labour appeared half-hearted on Brexit and that was enough for a lot of typical working-class Labour voters to vote Tory. It's not just about money for them. They took pride in their identity and have felt it was under siege.
