    Lol, we've all been there, one last cast, oh s***,that's a big wave ! Just as well it wasn't November when the water would have been even thicker with colour on the wade off. Good stuff,well worth the late session.

      Haha, it's so hard to leave a mark when the fishing is going OK. It's normally OK, we have a few markers on the shore that we use to line up the wade off, but we couldn't see them with snow in the torch beam. Roll on the spring

      @@SlippyLimpets We have some shallow stuff up here that you are a long way out on a big spring. I was trying a new stance then cut back to an old one about 150 yards away but got onto it from the east side when i usually come on from the west.
      Checked the gully at the back as it was pushing in fast and it looked ok. 2 fish in 2 chucks but had that uncomfortable feeling you get when something isn't right.
      Climbed two reefs back instead of one to look back at where i would get off only to see 80 yards of water. Sh** my pants, ran back, grabbed gear and got a right soaking after jumping into dirty water where i couldn't see the bottom. Would love to say lesson learnt, but it will probably happen again :) Got to love all the variables we get in winter cod fishing that just don't happen with the summer stuff.

    Well done Nathan for sticking the night out, it reminded me of being on Brighton pier many years ago in a blizzard and 'Brighton Shiverer's Club' were swimming in front of us as it was New Years Day. Thanks, take care, Norfolk Ray

      It's hard to leave a mark when the fish are biting, especially at this time of year. As for cold water swimmers- I surfed for 20 years in all weather but would never be without a wetsuit, they're nuts.

    Unique way u clip up when casting your pennel, is there a reason you make the snood longer, a love your clips keep it up.

    • @SlippyLimpets
      @SlippyLimpets  Рік тому +1

      I reckon the fish have a wee bit longer to swallow the bait before they feel any tension from the rig. It also means the bait is tight on the seabed. I will use a shorter snood if there's a big swell running. That's the beauty of the Gemini Solo Splashdown bait clips, you can have whatever snood length you like and saves time not having to make sure the tension is right

      I loved my GBFS mkI, and it's still early days with the Century, but first impressions are good. It's way lighter despite being 1ft longer, it has more power than I was expecting since it's billed as a clean to mixed ground rod- handled the kelp well. The extra length is great at getting the fish higher up out of the kelp and over ledges. It did take a few casts to get used to the glass tip, but it pings baits out miles with little effort.

    Hello Nathan, I do hope you are well. I haven't watched this video obvs (and you know why) However stick the thumbnail on a T-shirt (pref gray) with the double fish trade mark top right (in line with your head torch and red rod light and I'm in). Top merchandise right there as it gets everything your channel is about in one image. (apart from the obvious)
    Be well, M.

      Hi Martin, I'm good, cheers, hope you are too. Good idea about the t shirt, I'll mock one up and see what it looks like. I'll let you know if it's any good. You should give the video a watch, you might like it. Tight lines👍🎣

    Look slippy I have had serious cod with really small baits, I'm watching loads of channels serious big baits f all. All the big time cod guys will tell me I am a tosser but guys trust me I'm eating fresh cod youz are going to Fat birds chippy for a pie and chips.

      I'm with you mate, I fished for 10 years only using small baits and caught most of my big fish with a couple of worms. Easy when they're there. But the past few years have been plagued with loads of small fish and small baits just don't last. My theory with the bigger bait is that I can keep a bait in the water longer with the hope the bigger fish will eventually take it
