I was at the back of Amble near the signal house on Friday night. There was still a few 2-3lb codling around, but I think the big boys are away now. I need a plan for the spring now...
Lol, we've all been there, one last cast, oh s***,that's a big wave ! Just as well it wasn't November when the water would have been even thicker with colour on the wade off. Good stuff, well worth the late session.
Haha, it's so hard to leave a mark when the fishing is going OK. It's normally OK, we have a few markers on the shore that we use to line up the wade off, but we couldn't see them with snow in the torch beam. Roll on the spring
@@SlippyLimpets We have some shallow stuff up here that you are a long way out on a big spring. I was trying a new stance then cut back to an old one about 150 yards away but got onto it from the east side when i usually come on from the west. Checked the gully at the back as it was pushing in fast and it looked ok. 2 fish in 2 chucks but had that uncomfortable feeling you get when something isn't right. Climbed two reefs back instead of one to look back at where i would get off only to see 80 yards of water. Sh** my pants, ran back, grabbed gear and got a right soaking after jumping into dirty water where i couldn't see the bottom. Would love to say lesson learnt, but it will probably happen again :) Got to love all the variables we get in winter cod fishing that just don't happen with the summer stuff.

I'm with you mate, I fished for 10 years only using small baits and caught most of my big fish with a couple of worms. Easy when they're there. But the past few years have been plagued with loads of small fish and small baits just don't last. My theory with the bigger bait is that I can keep a bait in the water longer with the hope the bigger fish will eventually take it

Bye 😘😂
Look slippy I have had serious cod with really small baits, I'm watching loads of channels serious big baits f all. All the big time cod guys will tell me I am a tosser but guys trust me I'm eating fresh cod youz are going to Fat birds chippy for a pie and chips.
