Tough session Nathan, but at least you didn't blank. Use to fish that mark many years ago with the float catching pollack and coalies over high tide using fresh peeler crab. Great content video, enjoyed. Arthur.
Phill pulled out a nice coalie, just on high, that hit his bait on the drop! Not tried the float there, might give that a go next summer. Thanks as always Arthur and tight lines👍🎣
Nathan what a amazing places you take us to in your videos love the scenery as always well done on the fish. Totally enjoyed watching buddy looking forward to more videos buddy tight lines John 👍 🎣
Drive you bats, doesn't it Nath lol. Lug hey, get ready for stained fingers ;-). The trials of a night session, every time a totally different experience, who could ever get bored with that? Saved the blank there though. At least you are out there enjoying the environment. All the best and stay safe bud.
Used to fish that stretch about 20years back. Got some decent cod and some really good Coalies. Used to be thick with eels down in the reefs at Craster.
@@SlippyLimpets The fishing went off when the law changed re food by products. Craster kippers used to dump the by product off the end of the pier. That kept the fish interested. It definitely isn't the same now.
Yeah, that was an immense amount of grounds bait they used to chuck in the sea. Same as the hot water pipe at cambois and the waste pipe from the Rag farm at Lynemouth
Only my 2nd time there but seems fishy, maybe some coloured water and a bit of chop might help. Cheers for the invite mate, I'll let you know if I can make it👍🎣
I think Nathan your better of using grip leads with strong wire on rough ground and bend them out pretty wide and the end 1.5 cm at an angle roughly 90 , so it sort of sits straight , and give the fish more time to take the bait on heavy tackle most fish will hook themselves anyway great vids mate good craic tight lines
I usually use grip leads on heavy ground but had quite a few people comment I should use plains, so thought I'd give them a go in this session. Strangely I don't think I lost a single lead🤷♂️ Tight lines mate👍🎣
Get the bats flying into the braid whilst lure fishing on a few marks. I think it must vibrate or something because they are definitely attracted to it for some reason
Yeah, I've had the same night fishing for bass eith lures, but never while bait fishing. Don't mind when lure fishing because you can feel it and see them, looks like a bite every time on the bait rod.
Nice one mate. I can’t wait toget out but not sure when. Might try fishing for dabs at silloth with 2oz bombs to see how my back manages. Which go pro are you using Nathan?
Enjoy your video Nathan , I’m fairly new to sea fishing why are you using 80lb snoods ? Hope to get out the weekend but forecast is atrocious here in Ireland
Just because of the heavy ground I was fishing and i use 80lb braid straight through. The heavier snoods meant I could pull any snagged fish out without my mainline snapping. Glad you enjoyed the video and hope you get out this weekend. Tight lines👍🎣
Not a good session 😟, but always a good watch.👍👍 May have been the smallest cod Nathan, but the colours were amazing.😲 Fishing as it is.🎣 Thanks for sharing, take care and stay safe.😷🙊
Love that spot, and such deep water close in, leaves you with excitement as you never know what’s going to turn up. Also had a fight with a baby seal there which came up behind us.
Need some slack between the bailarm and the spool to release the bail arm without it catching the braid. So once the canon is loaded I release the drag, spin the spool anticlockwise to get a bit of slack, release the bail arm, wind the spool to take slack and then crank the drag back down and cast.
Thanks Dave, yeah it was a bat not a bass, but you can generally tell what is biting by the way the rod reacts, especially if you're fishing with braid. Cod will have a slow pull down, flat fish have 2 little knocks and then nothing, bass tends to be one quick and large pull down and tend to be lots of sharp rattles. Hope this helps and glad you enjoy my vids. Tight lines 👍 🎣
@@SlippyLimpets it's weird I get bats all the time when I'm spinning, they must be attracted too the noise of the line or something, we can't hear it but they probably can 🤷
Hi mate smashed the beacons with six 3lb to 4lb codling out agen Sunday be awesome to bump into u some time love all your videos top man keep up the good work
Glad some one has found the fish, they do seem to be about but only in tight areas. Hopefully the winter is a good'yen. I fish all over the place so you'll probably see me a some point. I'm the lad with a massive light on all of the time 😂
I've had one or two session to eyemouth, but no further north. I've got a trip planned for Arbroath in November, fingers crossed there will be some fish!
Love your intros man, inspiring!! Everytime makes me want to go fishing 🎣 even just when I'm home 🤣 Like all the video like but intros next level mate howd i go about contributing to the channel? Member things no working for me
Thanks mate, glad you feel inspired, that's pretty much the goal of this channel. Just watching and commenting is a good enough contribution to me. If you want to go further then there's a section in my description with some more info, merch, PayPal... tight lines mate👍🎣
As I said the last video you did there, you'd think that place would be great, the most excitement I got was getting chased by bulls on the way back to the car, far better marks to the south.
Aye, I think you're right about the marks further south, maybe park at Craster and try those the next time. Although, don't really like the idea of being chased by a bull!
@@SlippyLimpets You're making the same mistake I made at your age, you think the further you drive the better it gets, not always. Like you I used to drive North of Berwick 99% of time, I'd convinced myself that the more remote the better the fishing. Unfortunately, no one tells the fish this, one of the best spots I found was 8 miles from my house, drove past it dozens of times without trying it. Park at Boulmer and walk north along the path, remember 3 hours before lw to 2 hrs after best.
It's a point about the fish, but boulmer is still 50 minutes drive for me. I've fished Sugar sands and the beaches around there but not the ground in between. Will give it a go at some point this winter. Cheers for the heads-up
@@SlippyLimpets Ok let me put it this way (as I know them) your normal northerly marks are around 80-90 miles away, 160-180 round trip 3-4 gallons of fuel. Say 2 hours drive each way (4 hrs) plus another hour to walk to the mark and back, unproductive time is therefore 6 hours per session. Your local beaches and marks and a bit further north are roughly 20-40 minutes and say 10-25 miles, usually without long walks but lets say 30 minutes. So the extreme round trip 50 miles (1 gallon of fuel) and 1 hour each way, probably less. Total unproductive time 3 hours, saving 3 hours fishing or whatever per trip and 3 gallons of fuel. Now don't get me wrong in the summer give me the longer adventurous trip any day. But in the winter when you are freezing cold, wet through and not enjoying it that much are you really having better sport in the furthest marks?
Probably not, but at least sitting in the car I'm warmer for longer😂 Most of my bait marks are, as you said 30-40 miles from home and close to the car, just need to dig my own bait now and then I'll be saving a load of cash compared to summer fishing
I've had them buzz around my braid whilst lure fishing at night but never fly into it before. Bit of a pest Water clarity is good and a week of westerlies and flat seas should keep it that way, maybe I should pack the bait gear away and get the lure rod back out

all about... bait in the water...
Yep, you got that right!
Why you taking the drag off for as a fixed spool reel does not move when you cast out as it's just the line that moves
Need some slack between the bailarm and the spool to release the bail arm without it catching the braid. So once the canon is loaded I release the drag, spin the spool anticlockwise to get a bit of slack, release the bail arm, wind the spool to take slack and then crank the drag back down and cast.
