    Welcome back Mr Snooze.
    What a lovely way to start off. With a nice little dublo train set running about.
    As much as my 3 rail layout is starting to progress.
    I do enjoy just going back to basics and setting up a little trainset now and then and watching a nice loco and a handful of wagons tear around.
    Its the simple things sometimes that bring us joy.
    Very much looking forward to your upcoming projects.

      It's exciting to hear you are getting on with your layout. These sets are, as you say, fun to run now and then. Best regards to you

    I was laughing at the relays , reminded me of the time I fixed my Airfix multiple train control system which had a faulty short circuit breaker , it was a bog standard British layland indicator relay , so off I went to a local motor mechanic who dug me one out of his used parts bin , the Airfix MTC console also had mains voltage live rails on the main PCB as well as the low voltage stuff which is something I hate .

    • @MrSnooze
      @MrSnooze  8 місяців тому +1

      It's always good to find a quick repair. I agree about mixing the voltages. These controllers have a PCB mounted switch at mains voltage. Not ideal. Thanks for looking, all the best to you

    Hello again Mr S. Good to see you back!
    I've just noticed I have an identical controller to the Triang item that was in shot alongside your N2 loco. The knob squeaks a bit but apart from that it works well enough to provide power to my Hornby rolling road.
    I got my 1958 vintage Hornby Doublo "City of London" fixed & serviced by 00Bill recently, and now it runs perfectly again. I've used it on my 92 year old neighbour's layout a few times and he says it's the best loco ever to have run on his tracks! This is exactly what my dad and I used to say back in the early 1970s when he acquired the set of which it was a part, "The Caladonian." It's capable of running for hours, hauling 7 Doublo-coupled crimson lake coaches. It's an lovely scene.
    Looking forward to watching your future videos.

      It sounds like your City Of London is going well now. you are right to say it's a great loco. have you seen this video I did a while back ua-cam.com/video/YI1Ofpbs1JI/v-deo.html ??

    Good to see you back. Looking forward to your winter videos and, in particular, the painting. I've not tried that for about 40 years or so.... Just a pot of Humbrol, thinners and a brush back then.

    Hornby Dublo had gone by the start of my toy train career. For us it was Triang/Hornby, so those are the items I am more familiar with. It’s always a delight to see the Hornby three rail, with its track. It really was an excellent product. Perhaps to well made for the company to make the money to continue. Its longevity though is a testament to that build quality. I doubt they would have under specified components!

    • @MrSnooze
      @MrSnooze  8 місяців тому +1

      I think you are right about the engineering and specification. Second to none. Tri-ang made well designed items too and they still run well. Thanks for looking, all the best to you

    Welcome back Mr. Snooze. I enjoyed looking over the items you have acquired this summer and look forward to seeing them again as you feature them in future videos. I am so pleased to see that you have made progress with the controllers. It looks like you will get some very fine running from them. I was able to pickup a new Tech II controller about a month ago for just $15.00, brand new!
    Who could not love a N2? they are squat but cute and oh so powerful. The rolling stock in your set looks brand new, excellent condition. I would not dare to put a set on the kitchen table. lol.
    Regards, David.

    Excellent. Sweet train set with such an attractive loco, as essential to a layout as a Jinty I think. Your channel had begun to slip down my subscription list but now it will be back up the top where it belongs, let's hope the UA-cam algorithm behaves. It would have been nice if Tri-ang had bought out an electric N2 to compliment their early cast metal clockwork version. Very good to have you and your videos back again and looking forward to the interesting things to come. 😊

    Is that a home made rolling road? Can you please mention it in an upcoming video? I really need to make one myself.
    I have 2 Hornby Dublo Class N2 locos and they are indeed great runners.
    Thanks for sharing your set with us.
    Stay safe.

    "I remembered I had a couple of new scourers under the sink!" = Mrs S. hasn't, any more😏😁🤣🤣🤣
    Makes you wonder how the dccists cope with motors warming up, thinning the lube 🤔 👍👍

    • @MrSnooze
      @MrSnooze  8 місяців тому +1

      Even though I hold them all in the highest regard, I'm not very sure about how some of the DCC followers think their wiring is less complicated than a good traditional DC setup. We mustn't offend them though. Best regards to you

    Snooze,
    Your/our models will be running when the modern productions are decorating the bin. 1/Brushes are repairable/replaceable 2/ Motor rotors rewindable (see Darth Santa-fe) 3/ At a pinch bearings can be bushed, wheels replaced, and side rods repaired.4/ Remagnetisation possible. 5/ These things can be worked on, and the shells can be removed without breakage 6/ At least on the non latest stuff, models unscrew rather than clips that age and break. One commentator disassemble d recent production which featured clips just mentioned. We do have problems, such as wheels, but there are solutions, and where there are none apparent we can develop them.
    Also, our models are sturdy and affordable.
    Welcome back. Always remember you are not always expected to be correct nor perfect. A man's place is in the wrong'.

      Hello Pete, I think you are right about the serviceability of these older items. Also even worn out or damaged locos can yield wheels or axles so nothing needs to be thrown, just recycled. Thanks for watching, best regards to you
