The fact that this game's world is so dynamic that you can get jumped by a drake and being forced to show him your power or you die is beautiful and badass
griffins being much more prevalent is fantastic because farming them in the first game could be such a pain. They're also such cool looking enemies so I'm glad they're around more
They were dead set on making Griffin the "Rathalos" / flagship monster of Dragons Dogma. While the Dragon / Grigori is the poster boy of the Dragons Dogma, Griffin is the iconic monster you can actually see in the wild.
I also think the Griffin is THE ONE monster that Dragon's Dogma really made unique to DD, if that makes sense. Like the Chimera is pretty par for the course, the dragons look like dragons (special mention to Grigori) but the Griffin is so menacing when compared to its more typical "noble" depictions. The way it harnesses electricity and the serrated beak just gives it such an awesome appearance and vibe. I said it's not as noble as typical appearances but it's still described and seen as noble in the lore 😂😂
Everytime I see that fire missile arrow I just think it's so useful for scouting ahead. It lights the area in the dark and it Flys kinda slow too. Very useful

tbh the game look less visually appealing in this video than on the trailers shown previously.... but maybe it's just the video i don't know. but yeah i'm pretty sure the game will be downgraded visually ~ hope not.
@@kocayine4854 Nah, I'm comparing this to Dark Arisen and Monster Hunter World. Visual fidelity and all around style looks leagues ahead of DD:DA and this feels like a delivery on an open world Monster Hunter RPG. Beyond excited for this.
As someone who adored magick archer, I'm really happy to see they gave it more outdoor usability. I felt the class only *really* shined in BBI in Dragon's Dogma 1. I'll miss having daggers a bit, but this is otherwise everything I've wanted. Cannot wait to play.
mystic spearhand has my curiosity but not nearly as much as the trickster does. the machine gun mode thing is interesting. as is the guided missile for the fire arrow, i'm curious to find out how much range that spell has for starting a fight far outside agro range. one of the funniest things to do in dd1's dlc area was in the second last zone of the dungeon it was a big open space with some cover but you could easily set up long range skill/spells to kill almost everything there before they noticed you. it's actually funny, since that area had 2 gimmicks to try to punish that strategy but it was pretty easy to work around. lmao "utility over damage" he says, we'll see. yep, in dd1 they came with you if you used a ferry stone, a common trick when escorts were notice board quests that told you the destination before you took it was to go to the spot ahead of time to set the port crystal to guarantee the safety of who you were escorting. the frequency of griffins is a welcome addition, i can't be the only one that's still a bit infuriated at their AI in dd1, with them dam near never agroing you or as you show up in its hunting ground it immediately goes from too high to hit with dam near anything, to killing an ox on the other side of the zone, finally flying off and popping out of existance like it changed zones in Monster Hunter... only it moved into a zone outside the game.
MK has been rolled into fighter. Don't know if magic canon made it back in, but fighters now have skills that allow them to imbue their shields with elemental damage.
Spearhand used to be in the dragons dogma online game. I played that and the magick archer class in that game. So I'm glad to see it back from a dead game now.
It's the organic feel of both combat and quests that made me love the first game, so I'm glad to know that at least in this demo it seems like they did expand on both. Hope to see more of that in the full release, specially in how different decisions can affect the outcome of quests, including ignoring the task.
Just need a red lightsaber mod lol I hope the modding community has a field day with DD2 they have a pretty good selection in the first game. Even though it did not get nearly as much spotlight as this one is getting let's hope that is a good sign.

This looks so good. it's literally what dragons dogma 1 would have been if it were made today. Capcom continues to show us that they are just about the only AAA studio that can consistently churn out quality sequels and re makes. lets fkn go, I'm so hype for this one. 4 player co op for this game could of been amazing but I'm not complaining, for a long time i never thought this game was going to see the light of day after all.
Tbh i dont understand why people are so overhyped for it, it just looks like dragons dogma 1 in the aspect of combat and gameplay loop. The combat still looks outdated and sluggish, feels like they just important the DG1 combat made slight improvements and said yep this good, i really would have loved if they actually implemented a new combat system like true action combat where you have to press keyboard combinations to perform skill combos. Example: Shift + S is a upward slash, W + F is a foward leap or dash and now with just this two skills together you could do a chain combo, charge and then do a upward slash after it. Thats jsut a small Example but think of more skills and you can chain them all together or even animation chancel so a W +F doesnt need to go always into a upward slash but can be chain into another skill or even extend it with more skills into a whole ass combo EDIT: Calling it right now the combat will be a negative point in most reviews cause it is outdated

Love the depth in how you presented the game's mechanics! I was wondering if you could say if the leveling of your character and vocation all function the same as the first game? (Stats based on class, Discipline Points, 9 Vocation Ranks, etc.)
I loved dragons dogma, i played it to hell and back and then some more, and i left satisified, so satisfied i never craved a sequal, to me it felt like a one of a kind game bound to fade to obscurity as a hidden classic when i was a kid. But here it is, and i am all for it.
The NPCs coming up and stopping you to give you a quest definitely seems like something I'm going to get tired of really fast, I hope they make a QOL change that includes an ability to ignore them if I want
lol mystic spearhand shouldve been called Jedi Saberhand he basically used the Force kinda, I will prob go with trickster or wayfarer, theirs godda be a way to push ur stats to viability, i just like the kinda multiclass idea, is it like bg3 or just like sumthing basic? i also like the assassin, would like to do like wayfarer Trickster/assassin would be cool, excited to play this.
He briefly mentions some side quests which you may have already seen bits from other videos. That and some non-spoiler mechanics like the shop you can change your cosmetics after creating your character. I was worried about it too but don't think it was anything major if you haven't watched it all the way through yet.

I dunno I think what was missing from the first Dragon's Dogma was a decent story honestly and I hope they have focused on that. I can't shake the feeling this looks like a remaster of the previous game and I'll be jumping on board, sure, but on a sale later on. This month I'll start with Rise of the Ronin for sure, that gets me far more excited than this despite the criticism it is getting. I also hope Team Ninja concentrated on the story as they are no Dickens just as well ;) but at least Roning seams distinctive enough from wo long or nioh.
The shenanigans with the forgeries makes me hope I can have a band of merry men that are not bound by game balance to respect the private property of others; I hope there are more ways to get one over on nobles and aristocrats. I also hope that the game doesn't have a karma or law game mechanic that forbids me from choosing to be virtuous in spite of who I choose to scorn. In short, I want the game-play possibility of being a robin-hood type character who believes in justice outside of law and order

Is there a way to reset level states? One big issue of DDA 1 is that different class gets different states when level up. For example, the leveling states of a warrior are mainly strength and health. If you change your class to a mage, you will lack spell damage. And if you choose a long-range class, you will lack stamina.
Just like dd2, Idk why you’d choose any of the other archer variations when this exists. I like that it’s an upgrade from the base archer, just like DD1. But it’s clearly so much better I don’t see the point in the others 🤷🏽♂️
With moments like this 13:57 I'm beginning to realize more and more why we, as the people, won't be getting a public demo. The game is simply too massive and intertwining to be contained and restricted into any sort of reasonable limitation. Instead, it's more reasonable to have a select few be flown out to capcom to play on hardware on location. In this day and age demos would only reveal more than the publishers intended, within the data files. 20 minute demos just wouldn't work either like in the Gamecube days, with all the ways we could simply bypass that restriction now. So I get. I'm fine with no demo. We're so very close now anyway. I waited 10 years, give or take. I can wait 16 more days.
Do you know if the defense/attack calculations have been overhauled? Like, in DD1, if something had more defense than you had attack, you'd have to swing at it for ages while doing like 1 point of damage per attack. It was a really weird design decision since it made fights basically impossible if you were too underleveled, unless you had godly amounts of patience.
Still pissy about the save file, but I’ll be damned if that stops me from buying it on like day 1 or 2. Still waiting for reviews just to play it safe. I loved the first game though, so I’m confident.
Does anyone know yet how skill points work when respacing? I heard in the old one if you start as a warrior, and you switch to something not needing that skill point, you've kind of wasted those points. Is it the same this time? If I want to be mystic spearhand, what should I start out as?
You're thinking of how stats raises are different based on your current vocation when leveling up. Apparently that has been removed and stats are determined based on your vocation only. So you should be able to switch and get new stats
How's the climbing mechanics in 2? As much as I absolutely loved the original, trying to scale anything big enough to climb was a nightmare, mechanically. Really hoping its easier/smoother to do in 2.

There won't be Stat progression based on class. Your stats change based on the Vocation you switch to.

confirmed that this mechanic is gone from dd2.
Just like dd2, Idk why you’d choose any of the other archer variations when this exists. I like that it’s an upgrade from the base archer, just like DD1. But it’s clearly so much better I don’t see the point in the others 🤷🏽♂️
With moments like this 13:57 I'm beginning to realize more and more why we, as the people, won't be getting a public demo. The game is simply too massive and intertwining to be contained and restricted into any sort of reasonable limitation.
Instead, it's more reasonable to have a select few be flown out to capcom to play on hardware on location. In this day and age demos would only reveal more than the publishers intended, within the data files. 20 minute demos just wouldn't work either like in the Gamecube days, with all the ways we could simply bypass that restriction now.
So I get. I'm fine with no demo. We're so very close now anyway. I waited 10 years, give or take. I can wait 16 more days.
Do you know if the defense/attack calculations have been overhauled? Like, in DD1, if something had more defense than you had attack, you'd have to swing at it for ages while doing like 1 point of damage per attack. It was a really weird design decision since it made fights basically impossible if you were too underleveled, unless you had godly amounts of patience.

Does anyone know yet how skill points work when respacing? I heard in the old one if you start as a warrior, and you switch to something not needing that skill point, you've kind of wasted those points. Is it the same this time? If I want to be mystic spearhand, what should I start out as?
You're thinking of how stats raises are different based on your current vocation when leveling up. Apparently that has been removed and stats are determined based on your vocation only. So you should be able to switch and get new stats

How's the climbing mechanics in 2? As much as I absolutely loved the original, trying to scale anything big enough to climb was a nightmare, mechanically. Really hoping its easier/smoother to do in 2.

disappointed the armor system has been streamlined, the new items look good but I much preferred the layers and slots we got in the first game.
so how is walking through out the open world do they have new mechanics or still the same variety everytime you walk through the area
You should try the archer more when you get the game. Otherwise the preview is great

In one of them (probably mystic) I cranked it to the furthest at some point
