its even better this time around as they talk to each other and have unique skills they all can learn like knowing the elven language which allows them to be a translator for you when your talking to the elves.... i wonder what other unique skills the pawns can learn... they can supposedly only have one of these unique skills so it will be interesting to see what other unique skills/traits they can have.
I really hope they add more randomization to the overworld encounters, the gameplay is so strong that as long as you never know what combo of enemies you run into next it could have infinite replayability
With problem with randomization in a Dragon's Dogma game is that having that defeats the whole point of the Pawn Knowledge systems. Unless they used AI voice acting to dynamically generate the voiced lines giving tips to the Arisen about what to expect in an area or quest or what the weaknesses of an enemy are, then it's just not feasible to have those aspects be randomized. Maybe once AI voice acting has become normalized and the quality is slightly better.
@@ex0stasis72 The pawns can just provide information on the thing you're currently fighting, no need for AI. Randomization doesn't need to be extreme, just enough so that you're not fighting the same 3 wolves on the exact same patch of dirt every time you leave a village, like in DD:DA.

that stagger noise from the archer attack sounds very similar to a mechanic that they had in DDO, where after a certain threshold was reached, you'd be able to knock an enemy down and they'd take bonus damage.
3:00 explosive arrows work differently now and certain skills will allow you to equip certain arrow types, which would of been the reason you couldn't equip the arrows
I wonder if the magical pawns are able to cast the lower versions of spells after learning the upgraded versions. For context, it's better to not upgrade many of the sorcerer pawns spells in the first game because they take much longer to cast for not all that much more damage. Would be great to not have to worry about that this time around.
You can cut the time of your main pawns casting time in two ways, and support pawns with one of these methods. One is through an augment (main pawn only), and the other is by making sure any magic user has a duke's ring in their inventory (the one you have to take back from Salomet). I think one of the most exciting things about this sequel is that we can now have dedicated ranged pawns. Given how certain enemies were tricky to deal with without a ranged option like metal golems
The camping kit is EXACTLY what the game needed. DD has a core issue of having to spend too much time and space between being able to shift skill loadouts because you can only do it in a very small number of locations. But having a lot of skills with only a very limited number of slots means a lot of those skills go unused and experimentation is discouraged. Also, it's good that Strider was broken up because it frankly was pretty broken for a base class.
I have to agree with Strider being seperate. I also played it on the PS3 and it's crazy how OP it is. Every tier list I've seen Strider was always #1 or #2. Separating them also makes new vocation combos more possible.
Is Mystic Knight no longer in the game? I'm a sucker for Paladin classes, though it was definitely OP-- it was so much fun to play. By the looks of it theyre replacing it with Mystic Spearhand but I still havent seen any confirmations on it
I loved watching your demo during the preview as it really made it seem obvious that the game was HD Dragon's Dogma which is something I cannot complain about at all
Only concern I have so far is the enemy variety. They haven't shown anything new yet and I really will be a bit disappointed if I end up just fighting the same enemies from the og most of the time. Cyclops. Goblins. Griffin. A big ass dragon. Give me more variety
Agreed. I love the original monsters but I would love to see some more variety especailly considering mythology offers no lack of ideas. We do still have potential for DLC though, so maybe we'll get something like bitterblack again with a fuckton of new enemies
Looks amazing, but I'm not really on vibe with the Strider vocation being separated into one exclusively for range (Archer) and another for melee (Thief). The fact that the Strider allowed both weapons is what made it fun, you where taking pot-shots when encountering/ambushing enemies and when they got close and personal you went Devil May Cry on their ass. Dunno how is gonna pay out specifically for Archers since IMO while the bowplay is solid is not nearly as fun or flashy as the dagger melee gameplay, because of that my guess is that the majority of Strider mains from DD1 are going to go Thief. Hoping there's a hybrid vocation that mixes them back together.
I really hope they have a dedicated lantern input, having to go into the menu every time the lantern went out in the first game was so fucking annoying.
I don't hear a lot of people talk about the removal of secondary weapons, but it feels like a downgrade to me. I know the online DD was like that too, but having daggers or a bow as a secondary gave classes a lot more flexibility. if this was an MMORPG I'd understand it as them wanting people to cooperate, but I don't know if pawns can be equated to playing with other real players. In single player games you'd rather give players more options rather than less.
A bit worry about this one. I hope Capcom will expand on the customization instead of taking anything away, think APB Reloaded. Also I hope they expand on the pawn lore and how you interaction with them along with the ability for ppl to reproduce their old pawns. As far as the graphics go, I saw some texture tiling present at 2:08 and those harsh daytime shadows still exist by the looks of it. FromSoftware's Elden Ring really raised the bar when it came to atmosphere and character. Here it seems like Capcom is retreading things step for step with the enemies and graphics, even though it's not set in Gransys. I wanted to see a cyclops uproot a tree to use as a weapon, dynamic weather like rain affecting certain tactics, dense forest that are different enough to warrant a name. I guess we'll see.
never played the first game but this looks amazing and i hope it'll be the 2024 version of Baldurs Gate 3. only gripe is that the subtitles seem needlessly large
A game being nearly identical to the first is not a bad thing either. Sometimes that's all people want and need. Games get too convoluted or simple trying to shake things up by adding or taking away too many things. See Dragon Age Origins to Dragon Age 2 to Dragon Age Inquisition. That whole series went through through an identity crises with every release.
The only L i found in what they revealed up until now is that there is no Strider no more. Like, c'mon people, the Strider/Ranger/Mage Archer/ Assassin were the DOPEST classes of the og game.
You made the game look so much better. And even with the usual reviews playing it was already looking pretty good. Seeing someone familiar with the breadth of mechanics going at it is quite a treat! Do you think there will be high enough difficulty levels to give people like you some challenge, or that the game will be too easy?
This is the fantasy game I have been waiting for. What Asmongold said was spot on; this game seems to have captured what makes the Fellowship of the Ring so amazing.
Is it weird that it oddly reminds me of Monster Hunter 3? The outside landscapes at the start of the first game reminds me so much of the deserted island.
I hope this time we will be able to build fully viable magic users, that center around 1 specific element. I would love to play a magic archer, or the new double blade vocation centering around the dark element. And the stat points must be distributed freely when leveling up. I also hope we have more gear with unique abilitys like in Dark Arisen. Also loot should be less randomized (especially epic gear) and the overall world (worldbuilding, quests etc.) must make a biiig step forward
What I want to see the most is how this game ties into the ending of Dragons Dogma 1. How does the God of the Everfall being absent entirely unfold? How is a Dragon born with no Seneschal to guide an unfit Arisen into that body?
@@SuperRADLemon Yes, I am aware of this but given what I remember of the Everfall, it is supposed to be a gateway connecting dimensions, at least to some degree. I want to know if that property will connect the two games at all, and if the consequences of the first games ending affect all realities (by depriving all of them of a God) or only the Gransys of the original game
i hope they make it possible to create very varied characters again. if i can play as a child in dis game as well it might become one of my most fav games ever.

The only negative I cant think about is that a lot of folk are complaining that the Strider was divided into two separate classes. Other than that the hype train is steady.
Im still not optimistic because looks like that they included and improved everything except the armors slots, there no sure if the armors pieces are all separated because in the latest demo the torso and gloves was like fused as the pants and feets, this could be weird if its not like the first game since you was able to customize your character like you wanted...
The most interesting new feature imo of DD2 are Spezializations, this has really huge potential to make Characters/Pawns alot more interesting and in overall useful for your and your general gameplay. So far they presented two Specializations - Elvish Wordsmith and Logistican. With the prior letting you become able to understand the Elven Language, the latter one helping you out to logist your Inventory Weight automatically from your Character over to your other Party Members, if you get too heavy to sprint and move freely anymore. And the game will have alot more of those. Lets imagine just for a moment and brainstorm over this feature, what we could potentially find more later in the game for specializations :D - Haggler > letting you become able to sell stuff for more RC and buy stuff for lesser RC - Anglerman > Will fish for your Fishes that you can use then for Cooking - Miner > Will mine Ore for you where ever possible that you can use then for Item Crafting - Herbalist > Will collect for your automatically Herbs n Fruits randomly. - Librarian > lets you get Exp Boosts from exploring the World, whenever you find something that is new to you, a new mosnter, a new location, a new book that you havent read before ect. you get Exp Boosts. - Pyromancer > Increases your Efficiency with all kinds of Fire related Abilities and Explosives as also increases the intensitiy of your Light Sources, like the Lamp. - Exorcist > Your Attacks become more effective against all kinds of Undead and defeating Undeads leads to AoE DmG that will deal significant DMG to other Undeads in its area of effect. - Pharmacist > Increases the Efficiency of all your Healing Herbs n Potions, buffing herbs n potions gain longer durations instead. - Noble Speaker > Lets you receive eventuelly new Answer Options in Conversations, that can perhaps lead to it, that you obtain some items from NPCs you wouldnt get otherwise. - Eagle Eye > Attacking Enemies with your Character and from the Pawn with this Specialization grant you a Chance to steal Items from them with your Attacks, the Attacks have also now a higher chance of being critical hits. - Blacksmith > Increases the Value and Efficiency of your crafted Weapons and reduces the Costs to upgrade them. - Goldsmith > Increases the Value and Efficiency of your crafted Accessoires and reduces the Costs to upgrade them - Whitesmith > Increases the Value and Efficiency of your crafted Armory and reduces the Costs to upgrade them. - Treasure Hunter > Marks Treasure Chests and valueable hidden Iterms on your Minimap that you haven't found yet. - Woodchopper > Collects randomly all kinds of Wood for you to use for Crafting, Housing ect. when being near of trees. - Monster Hunter > Increases the Chance to find more oftenly rare Monster Loot and adds a chance to increase the quantity of the loot you find. - Safeguard Swimmer > Disables Death from falling into deep water (you get just now teleported back to land as your Swimmer Pawn saves you) - Scout > Unfogging your World Map has much bigger distance and enemies will be shown now on your Minimap. Party Awareness of Enemies at night also increases. - Survivalist > Randomly adds Meat of all kinds of eatable types to your Intentory, from hunting animals for you. - Cook > Increases Buff Effects and Durations from your cooked Meals at Camp and lets them heal also more Health, or increases maximum Health temporarely for a day. - Tinkerer > Enables you to craft things, that you wouldnt be able without a Tinkerer in the group. - Craftsman > Enables you to craft Housing Items - Salesman > Have your personal Merchant always with you from that you can buy n sell some basic stuff thats always nice to have with you. - Master Thief > Enables you to make the Party temporarely invisible, so that Enemies wont recognize and target you, to allow you to perform sneaky Surprise Attacks, or flee easier from combat. just some stuff I immediately had in mind, when I saw that Specializations are part of the game, it has such infinite potential to make the game so great, when theres tons of such spezialications that add nice quality of life aspects to the game.
Ok i love the show case but I'm a little bit scared they streamlined a little too much. I loved the concept they had in the first game where i can use a variety of weapons with each vocation, though it wasnt alot i hoped they would add more weapons to the game to increase customization and build paths. I know it's early but it seems like they're going the monster hunter route of each vocation has one weapon type and just upgrade from there. It feels like theyre taking something away and if i wanted to play a mh type system ill just play mh. Again i know its early and not much footage is out but it still makes me concerned. Streamlining usually means taking something away and im hoping thats not the case here
It's pretty much the same in Dragon's dogma online. Every vocation has one weapon only but still fun to play since it makes the vocation feel distinct and different.
@@nrrdpanda no problem, and a possibility of vocation only has 1 weapon each is maybe because it was too op. Strider with bow and dagger was really overpowered, including Ranger, and Magick Archer. I guess they want to make it more balanced.

The gameplay looks insanely fun
I really hope they have a dedicated lantern input, having to go into the menu every time the lantern went out in the first game was so fucking annoying.
U could asign it to a hotkey im sure
seems to give more monster hunter vibes than i remember the first one having
First one does too. Replaying it now.
@@garrettwilson9664use my pawn! I'm replaying it too
Seeing that archer gameplay, I can already see the video thumbnails now. "Can I beat Dragon's Dogma 2 with just my boot?"
Late, but I really hope we see the return of Balsac. That would make my entire decade.
I’m loving everything they’ve shown so far, especially being able to ride a griffin that’s badass. Can’t wait for my magic archer build 😅
More monster hunter vibes love it!! Hopefully we get a bestiary too 😊
The only L i found in what they revealed up until now is that there is no Strider no more. Like, c'mon people, the Strider/Ranger/Mage Archer/ Assassin were the DOPEST classes of the og game.
Didn’t they just rename it to thief? Or does thief work differently?
REMEMBER ARISEN!
Wolfs hunt in packs. 👍😎👍
I love that Capcom acknowledges you.
You made the game look so much better. And even with the usual reviews playing it was already looking pretty good. Seeing someone familiar with the breadth of mechanics going at it is quite a treat!
Do you think there will be high enough difficulty levels to give people like you some challenge, or that the game will be too easy?
Dark Arisen had some really tough spots and there was also the final raid at the end of the game so yeah.
That's encouraging to hear. Thanks.@@SuperRADLemon
This is the fantasy game I have been waiting for. What Asmongold said was spot on; this game seems to have captured what makes the Fellowship of the Ring so amazing.
One of the few games I’m actually excited for
Seems like there was aught there for you to see, arisen!!
The fact this game won't have coop is a major missed opportunity. I will still play it but it would be twice as fun to play with three other friends
There are plenty of other games for that.
@@BerryNiceToMeetYou Such as?
Is it weird that it oddly reminds me of Monster Hunter 3? The outside landscapes at the start of the first game reminds me so much of the deserted island.
Archer doesn't have daggers any more. Now I fear for the magic archer.
Haven't been more excited about a game in a looooong time!
What I want to see the most is how this game ties into the ending of Dragons Dogma 1. How does the God of the Everfall being absent entirely unfold? How is a Dragon born with no Seneschal to guide an unfit Arisen into that body?
They mention it's a parallel universe during the showcase
@@SuperRADLemon Yes, I am aware of this but given what I remember of the Everfall, it is supposed to be a gateway connecting dimensions, at least to some degree.
I want to know if that property will connect the two games at all, and if the consequences of the first games ending affect all realities (by depriving all of them of a God) or only the Gransys of the original game
My personal theory is that we will see something about these connections once we hit the end game
@@Chyguy I imagine each universe has their own god.
i hope they make it possible to create very varied characters again. if i can play as a child in dis game as well it might become one of my most fav games ever.
the dragon looks absolutely terrifying at 15:05
Hype hype hype hype hype! Now I’m more confident that they will announce a new monster hunter at the game awards…
pass the copium i need some too
@@rileytedrow6732 oh I got so much to give my friend, don’t forget they are announcing a collection of old monster hunter games being released within the month of December or January and it will utilize capcom id to allow us to play online fully with cross play
Lets hope that the Duke FINALLY commissioned some new roads
i don't understand why every discussion i've seen about this game has been so negative. the game looks just as fun as the original and it looks beautiful. people really will just find any reason to complain and shit on upcoming releases despite it not even being out yet. i'm more inclined to believe your thoughts and opinions as someone who has actually played it over some random jackasses on steam, but it does make me sad to see so much hate toward it :( i'm excited for it anyway, this'll probably be a day one for me
Who's hating on it?
I haven’t seen anyone say anything negative?
Steam discussions are a cesspool and should always be avoided. Legit some of the worst forums that exist online
The only negative I cant think about is that a lot of folk are complaining that the Strider was divided into two separate classes.
Other than that the hype train is steady.
was great to see you on the livestream rad , ALSO WHERE IS MY 79 HOURS LONG DAO retrospective pls ty
I'm still script writing but it's over 100 pages now
We deserve a party focused flintlock based pirate. Change assclass to Cutlasses and flintlocks only.
Im still not optimistic because looks like that they included and improved everything except the armors slots, there no sure if the armors pieces are all separated because in the latest demo the torso and gloves was like fused as the pants and feets, this could be weird if its not like the first game since you was able to customize your character like you wanted...
Congrats on being able to play early. I’m just curios of what the frame rate is going to be 30 or 60 did you notice which it may be I’m assuming 60?
I thought at first the beginning was a comedy movies...because those men trying to hurt the dragon with those toothpicks was cracking me up
The only thing missing is coop which I hope modders gonna solve one day
Masterwork's all, you can't go wrong.
3:20 thats Pedro from One Piece
Cant wait for DD2, just gotta survive till March
I love the look of the Boss HP bar 😍
“There wasn’t just a flamethrower” as a pawn literally uses a new flamethrower spell haha
Dragon's Dogma I is the game I have my eye on to play next after finishing Baldur's Gate 3.
I’m def going to be a archer also the mods will be so sick
I am very hyped…. I hope and pray this is as good as it looks!
"???: YOUR MOTHER, ARISEN"
And thus, Dragonborn was born.
Damn! 2:22 Those piranas are nasty!
Super stoked for this game. Been playing through dark Arisen to date the itch 😂.
i wish they keep the same va for the pawns. I always loved the excited girl voice
Lets imagine just for a moment and brainstorm over this feature, what we could potentially find more later in the game for specializations :D
- Haggler > letting you become able to sell stuff for more RC and buy stuff for lesser RC
- Anglerman > Will fish for your Fishes that you can use then for Cooking
- Miner > Will mine Ore for you where ever possible that you can use then for Item Crafting
- Herbalist > Will collect for your automatically Herbs n Fruits randomly.
- Goldsmith > Increases the Value and Efficiency of your crafted Accessoires and reduces the Costs to upgrade them
- Whitesmith > Increases the Value and Efficiency of your crafted Armory and reduces the Costs to upgrade them.
- Safeguard Swimmer > Disables Death from falling into deep water (you get just now teleported back to land as your Swimmer Pawn saves you)
- Scout > Unfogging your World Map has much bigger distance and enemies will be shown now on your Minimap.
- Craftsman > Enables you to craft Housing Items
- Salesman > Have your personal Merchant always with you from that you can buy n sell some basic stuff thats always nice to have with you.
I take it you were a big fan of the first one? lol me too
Can the archer only use a bow?
@@Emulation_knight ok that gives me hope it'll still be really fun. Thanks
@@nrrdpanda no problem, and a possibility of vocation only has 1 weapon each is maybe because it was too op. Strider with bow and dagger was really overpowered, including Ranger, and Magick Archer. I guess they want to make it more balanced.
@@Emulation_knight that makes sense and im sure they'll still make something great. I just love variety and seeing two or three of the same class but played entirely different is such a W for me. That being said I'm still super excited for this game and can't wait to see what they give us.
so to use itens like the bombs , do u still have to pause the game , chose the bomb , throw it , pause the game again chose another bomb , throw it again.... ?
I speedrun the sh!t out of the first DD, I’m exited for this and just can’t get soon enough ! Hands on ! Shoutout for the hardcore fans !
They need to fix the map by having point of interest like quest appearing during use of the ferry stones.
12:06 as long as the dragon has cold ass quotes like Grigori we will be alright
Yeah I’m excited for this . Not over hyped but I played the first game 10 years ago and loved it
Are the camp packs consumable or can we just buy one and use it forever?
I'm not sure but I would assume they are not consumable
