How To Do Fancy Plaiting

Now I finally BEGIN to understand the concept of the whole "fancy plaiting" ! But how do you plait letters? Like names or a special occasion on which a whip is given etc... Thanks!

How do I plait like a black handle and then transition into two different colors the rest of the way down?

You'll need to transition via Turks knot. Unless you can find a way to drop and add all those strands without making it noticeable.
