      I just bought 3 sets of these and have been searching far n wide on UA-cam and nobody has explained setting them up quite like you. Now I feel completely comfortable getting them setup they’ve just been sitting in the package because the instructions are literally none existent and most UA-cam videos don’t explain much but I greatly appreciate the knowledge you have shared with this video keep it up 👍🏾 🤘🏾

    I set up my shocks the same way as you on my TRX4 High Trail. Love it. No more flipping on a small side hill. Great vid for those who are lost with these shocks.

    glad I saw your vid, I have the lizards and have not developed them as the coilovers I use were ok... but always knew I needed the spring selection to bring out their best... : )

    Great ideas for low CG crawling. I'm contemplating a progressive spring rate for my bouncer by moving the short spring to outside the plunger and adding another plunger to separate the short medium and medium soft length springs.

    Great video explaining the benefits of the Desert Lizards! I’ve been running mine with the long soft springs under the piston and the short soft spring on top (medium short spring on top in the back). This is on a Gspeed V3 carbon chassis so it’s pretty light and I want as much droop as possible. This gives me just under 5mm up travel which is all I need to keep it from riding stiff and I can get the rig pointed up steep without the front unloading. I feel like the long spring below the piston gives just a slight bit of tension against the short spring above the piston to really keep the suspension from unloading.
    Another bonus is that a seal rebuild kit is included along with all the mounting hardware, all the tuning springs and pistons so you don’t have to buy anything else. Just add the oil you want and go!

    This is a excellent explanation, tutorial, or “Pro-Tip” video. I run the same setup on the front as you do with the exception of a two hole piston. On the rear I run both medium springs swapping the springs as you do with the short spring above the piston. So far so good. I’m buying another set this week and I’m gonna set them up exactly how you have yours to compare them, and see if I like it better. Anyway, great video.

      @Ginga_Ninja_RC  Рік тому +1

      I’ve played with the 2&3 hole plungers but ended up just going back to the four hole and just changing the oil weight if I need to.

    That's exactly how I do them nice job. Except you don't have to disassemble it to replace droop spring I just unthread it from the shaft like a key on a key ring.

    • @Ginga_Ninja_RC
      @Ginga_Ninja_RC  7 місяців тому

      For the Capra I would go with 100mm personally, but 90s would sit a bit lower. It would depend a bit on your terrain and driving style.

      Thanks the spring set up u have is awsome. Did it to my 100mm I just got in. Btw check out rc pirates for shock tower. Have them on my phoenix. Have to cut the fenders a bit to fit in front though.

    • @kevinhill2929
      @kevinhill2929 6 місяців тому

      Had a question. If u flip them like u did on your phoenix. Should u leave the springs the way they are as they came stock.

    • @Ginga_Ninja_RC
      @Ginga_Ninja_RC  6 місяців тому +1

      @@kevinhill2929 yes. It functions correctly this way whether right side up or up side down.

      Thanks. Sorry for shock towers was rc rock pirates. But have to trim the inner front fenders to fit. But ya have the 100 mm desert lizards on my Fordryce. Might pick them up for my phoenix as well. I am running the trx4 shocks on it but really like not having the coil over shock just like u mentioned with oil grime build on springs.

    I’m curious about how much stroke different sizes have? Say with your set up. Compressed and fully extended. I know it’s going to change with different spring set up. I like how your doing it.

    • @Ginga_Ninja_RC
      @Ginga_Ninja_RC  Рік тому

      I would definitely recommend trying this set up first and then see if you need to make any adjustments. This set up works as is on all but two of my trucks. I only made small adjustments from the set up for those two.

    The oil weight in the springs you you will determine on how heavy of a axle you have or use

  • @giovannihernandez6575
    @giovannihernandez6575 Рік тому

    If I’m tryng to get a realistic look what springs would you recommend??

    • @Ginga_Ninja_RC
      @Ginga_Ninja_RC  Рік тому

      I’m not really sure how to answer that, the springs don’t really change the look in my opinion. They just change the ride height and firmness, so it would just be a matter of putting whatever length springs that you want below or above the piston to make it sit at the right height you want.

    Any advice for rc4wd leaf spring set up? Cant seem to find much

    • @Ginga_Ninja_RC
      @Ginga_Ninja_RC  Рік тому +1

      I haven’t done a leaf truck yet. These would work well as dampers though I think. Just don’t run any springs in them and find a oil thickness you like.

    Why did you mount them up side down? I am just learning as well

    • @merlinsopenroadtherapy2641
      @merlinsopenroadtherapy2641 Рік тому

      And what oil weight did you start off with? I am putting 90mm on 2 scx10.3 and 120mm on my green wraith with a custom cage

    • @Ginga_Ninja_RC
      @Ginga_Ninja_RC  Рік тому +1

      Because they'll leak less, if at all, and it puts the heavy end down. I almost always use 15 or 20 weight to allow the shock to move more freely. Heavy oil just makes the shock slower or sometimes not even move its full range of motion.
