Radiolink RC8X Winch Mixing
I wanted to show three different different ways simply assigning the winch to a channel, but the other two involve setting up some mixing and some dummy channels. I hope I’ve explained it well enough in this video that it makes sense.
Sorry for the background noise. My 3-D printer had its fan on in the background and I don’t have a means of background noise canceling.
Thanks for watching.

Crawler Tire Insert Comparison

I remixed this just a bit, after I put it up I realized I forgot a few things that I wanted to put out there. Passing on my few years experience with different tire inserts. From home printed two super expensive. Pros and cons of each and what I see has the best value for your dollar while trying to be completely unbiased. Full disclosure, I am a team, driver for SL3D.RC, but that did come we...
GLOBACT Brass Wheel Weights

Best wheel weight found so far. No downside that I have seen. You can get the width and the weight that you want to put on the back of your wheel without interference from brass knuckles or portal covers. Also, they mount normally with the same wheel nut no matter how thick you get them. GLOBACT Brass Extended Wheel Weights Hubs 252g Counterweight Set 9mm Extended Hex hub for Trx4 Trx6 Axial SC...
Radiolink RC8X four wheel steering options

Putting a VFD Twin Transmission into my Base Camp

Wanted to put a VFD twin transmission into my Basecamp. Looked like there was plenty of room, but it didn’t turn out the way I intended. Really liking the final product though and it’s performing really well so far. #highnoonhobby #scumbagrc #westdesertwheeler #sonsofcrawl #slutcrawlers #axialadventures #prolineracing #hobbywing #joeropes #deezshockbands #ssdrc #sl3drc #nurds_utah #shiftrc
How I set up Desert Lizard shocks
Переглядів 16 тис.2 роки тому
I haven’t found any videos I’ve looked that do a good job of explaining how or why to set up these shocks in any certain way. This is my preferred method but these shocks give you the most adjustability and the best control of the movement of your suspension of any other shocks, especially for the money.
Charging my portable 12 V battery box

These will charge with most Lipo battery chargers that have a lead, or PB, battery setting. The settings should be adjusted for a 12 V battery with six cells at no more than 3 A. Is the settings call for it, set it to 2.4 V per cell. The Lipo charger will likely try to charge the battery to 14.4 V. This is within tolerance is listed on the sides of the batteries and is normal for a 12 V lead ba...
Portable 12v power source for charging RC batteries on the go.
Переглядів 1392 роки тому
This is my first version of a portable 12v power source for use with a DC capable RC battery charger. These ten can be charged back to full using a battery chargers lead battery (Pb) setting. This should be great for weekend camping events and gets you away from using your vehicles battery. Not sure on price yet. I need to add up parts costs but expect it to be in the ballpark of about $80-$100...
This was helpful, thank you
Hello, what kinda suspension set up do you have ?
@@MrJD240sx if you’re referring to the shocks, they’re 90mm Desert Lizards set up the way I show in one of my other videos I made about how to set those up.
Awesome info. I'm new to crawling. Got my hands on 2 stage foams & the green 3ds. I'll be doing trail mostly & wet stuff. I can see the benefits of the 2stage though. Thanks for the heads up on not letting the rig sit on the tires.
If you have any hard ones I'll buy them. I want my tires not to balloon at all. Not interested in crawling but I think they'd be helpful with high speed stability. If you can print then the full with of the tire that'd be even better.
glad I saw your vid, I have the lizards and have not developed them as the coilovers I use were ok... but always knew I needed the spring selection to bring out their best... : )
Hello Sir, why is my front steering not correctly calibrating with radiolink? Meaning, I have more steering going in reverse & in Gyro mode on. Unsure, what am I doing wrong.
Depending on what tpu you are using there are settings to change to make softer printed inserts. Infill needs to be set to 3 percent with gyroid pattern. Sometimes even 2 percent if 95a tpu. Also some more very important settings are tp change wall loops to 1 instead of 2, make sure thin wall detection is on and random seam postion. That will 100 percent change those stiff 3d printed ones you made.
@@jasonevans333 thank you. I’ve played with a lot of those settings but the material and quality of the Squid’nserts is something I can’t beat and he already has some for most any size of tote so I just use those. So much easier and they just work.
I also have some squid inserts and they do perform awesome!
DSM off-road makes thumbsteer
@@Toodles77 yes, so do a few other companies, but you can print one for a Flysky GT-5 from thing of verse for almost nothing and it fits. You just have to recalibrate the steering wheel after you put it on.
Crawler Innovation is the foam tuning kings. They so many options it scares people. You can get perfect airdown with your own rig.
@@simon_says_shhh I’ve tried them and they are a good option, but they fall far short of a good 3D printed insert. The side hilling and steering response are dramatically better. If you haven’t tried them yet, you should, and see for yourself.
Can you mix motors front rear with moa
I’m sure you can but I haven’t gotten into that yet. I picked up an MoA slider but I won’t have it running till over the winter probably. I’ll probably post a video when I get it set up. Check Exocaged RC. He might have a video on how he set his up.
Great job on the video and that was exactly what I was looking for was how to set up ps5 and ps2 as the in and out buttons for my winch control, by the way, who’s elastic winch straps are you using and where did you find them?
The elastic straps are made by DEEZ Shock bands. I’m not sure if he has them on his website but if you message him I’m sure he’ll set you up. He made mine on request.
@@Ginga_Ninja_RC I appreciate it, I ordered a set of 4ea 3/8” width in yellow with the stainless ends. Thanks again man! And yes, they were on the website.
Thanks!
Fellow utahn here. Currently building my desert lizards. I’m new to crawling and this helped out a ton. Thank you
Great video. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
Tip starting @13:05 really helped me getting the shocks dialed.
Great info and great video buddy new sub from me 🌟💯👌👍🏻
Problem is they don't suit the centre screws of 1.9 wheels. Not the ones that the same people who sell these weights anyway. 1.9 have smaller centre screws same as outer bead screws and 2.2 have correct threads for these. Just checked again and they say suits both. Plus the OD is 36mm which is too big for distance between hex screws on inside of 1.9 wheels
Sorry to hear that. I haven’t had any figment issues with any wheels I’ve tried from the same brand, Injora, or SSD and I run primarily 1.9s. The SSD screw holes are a bit tight but they still thread though ok for me.
Great video. Thanks for the detailed experience. I was wanting to get these for my Capra. Do u think I should go with the 90mm or 100mm. Let me know your opinion. Thanks.
For the Capra I would go with 100mm personally, but 90s would sit a bit lower. It would depend a bit on your terrain and driving style.
Thanks the spring set up u have is awsome. Did it to my 100mm I just got in. Btw check out rc pirates for shock tower. Have them on my phoenix. Have to cut the fenders a bit to fit in front though.
Had a question. If u flip them like u did on your phoenix. Should u leave the springs the way they are as they came stock.
@@kevinhill2929 yes. It functions correctly this way whether right side up or up side down.
Thanks. Sorry for shock towers was rc rock pirates. But have to trim the inner front fenders to fit. But ya have the 100 mm desert lizards on my Fordryce. Might pick them up for my phoenix as well. I am running the trx4 shocks on it but really like not having the coil over shock just like u mentioned with oil grime build on springs.
Best video I've ever seen about shocks. Great job, this helped a lot of people I bet. It definitely helped me..
Thank you! I hope it did.
Thank you for this video only video I have seen about this thank you
Good info, but 20 min too long, TY
Just receive the injora green, already have the pink fimonda
I am wondering how does different rc models need to be programmed for each setting when having multiple rc’s and programmed receivers Is there an each model program option for when wanting to use a different rc at the time ? Not finding anything on UA-cam about it If you could make a video step by step in settings that would be fantastic
This radio can store up to 200 individual vehicles with the settings for each vehicle being unique to that vehicle. The settings for each vehicle are saved separately. After you set a vehicle up you only need to select which vehicle you are connecting to.
Use ID seed in conjunction with model select if you want that receiver to stay in that particular vehicle with out any interference with other model bound to controller.
If I may be so bold as to offer you some advice about your video presentation...first start by gathering up everything you are going to be covering. Next align the stuff from start to finish (very linear, no back tracking unless it's necessary for comparison to earlier stuff). Finally you don't have to read from a script but at least jot down every talking point about every item you are going to be describing. Look at the items individually and try to write down every bit of information you think is necessary for your viewers and be precise (just the facts/trim the fat). Oh, one last thing that might help would be to have some energy in your presentation. If you don't sound too excited, why should your audience be to see the video? You don't have to be an over the top, zany goofball constantly bouncing all over your studio/filming location but definitely have an energy level greater than that donkey in Winnie the Pooh. Please take what I've typed above as constructive criticism and not a personal atrack because I believe you have some valuable knowledge to share about the RC world and the more viewers you have, the more you can share with us.
Good comparison video. There have been many inserts that have come out over the past few years since "Just Scalin" released his in the UK. One thing you highlighted is that inserts made with higher quality TPU (like 3Bros, Squid, and DBHobby uses) really makes a huge difference. That particularly TPU is way more expensive but the quality can't be beat. Inserts made from cheaper TPU feels more "plastic" and gives a stiffer feel that is more challenging to use when competing. Also, it was great to mention that you can tune the inserts by changing infill. I know DBHobby offers that as well and it was good to know Squids does too. Thanks for taking the time to do the video.
Tires, inserts and weight down low.
👍
This video went straight to my saved videos, I need to do this on several of my hardbody rigs. Once again thanks for doing these videos
Wow man this is some fantastic setups. Thank you for sharing
Great video ! Thank you
Theres many a 3d Foam out there. JFoams are the inserts I run.
extremely helpful.thank you for uploading this.
Very helpful!! Thanks, now I have momentary for my winch!
nice video! Thanks!
DB Hobby, u need to try his inserts ! They're far superior to anything on the market
How can you make a channel momentary for a winch??
I have a couple trucks set up with 3 different winch control setups all at the same time with momentary in and out as well. I’ve been meaning to get a video made for that but haven’t gotten to it yet. I’ll try to get one put up.
Thanks, as of now I'm using DT3 as a 3 position with works but I'd really like to use PS2 and PS5 as momentary winch in and winch out. I couldn't find a way to do so from the manule. I'd appreciate a tutorial!
@@misguided5421I just posted a new video with the winch mixing I have set up. Hope it helps.
I’m working on a very similar project and this is extremely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and solution! Subscribed. 👍✌️
Good info, thanks for the review of these.
Should 2.2 proline tires for crawlers be ported ?
Totally depends on you and what you wanna do with the truck. I don’t vent my tires as much if they have dual stage foams in them, but if you’re running 3-D printed inserts there’s not too many reasons not to vent them. If you’re gonna run them in water a lot though, I probably wouldn’t vent them either way.
The flubs are super heavy as well. So if you're weight conscious, they aren't for you haha. They perform okay, but they are now on my ten pound trail truck.
They are one of the few I haven’t tried, mostly because of the cost. I didn’t know they were that heavy. Have you tried the squids? Wondering how the weight compares.
@Ginga_Ninja_RC I have not tried the squids. I'm trying to remember what they weighed, because I weigh everything haha. I wanna say they were almost 80 grams each. I also just went and seen they have a new version with a integrated center ring.
I have had really good luck with hair buns believe or not. I use the x large and fit most tires and conform to rock's perfectly. Although I have a set of ruptures on the way and think xl hair buns may be little to small but we will see. Thanks for video and do agree way to much hype in the yzzr inserts
I have tried hair buns as well, but forgot to mention them in this video. I was surprised at how well they did. They were actually really close to the Proline dual stages in my opinion. A great budget option for a general trail use insert. In competition though, I don’t think they would keep up with good 3-D printed inserts.
I just got my set of YZZR’s and also was disappointed….way too stiff.
I know I’m just one person with an opinion but I have seen a fair number of people have problems with those and have yet to find anyone who has tried the Squid’nserts that hasn’t been happy with them.
@@Ginga_Ninja_RCwhat stiffness and rig weight? I just ordered a medium/soft split tonight for a~ 7.5-8lb trx4 but I’m doing some hard lines. Looking for maximum performance (outside of my light kit and bronco body)
@@V8chump what inserts did you order? I tried medium and soft YZZRs and was really disappointed in what I got. The Squid’nserts were pretty perfect in the normal firmness (4%). I get them slightly firmer (5%) in the rear for competition, but the normal fill has worked great in a variety of rigs from around 6lbs to just over 11, but you have to take the tire into account also. Jconcepts have a much thinner & softer sidewall than Proline for example.
Your 3d prints look great though, and tpu isnt the easiest to print with
Are tire insert needed on mini crawlers or is tire small enough that it doesnt really need them?
Not really sure. I don’t do much at all with the mini crawlers but I think it has a lot to do with the tire you pick.
Just got some! Thanks for the great video. Cheers
The Blue/White injora need to be placed in a clothes dryer on Medium heat for about 20 minutes for them to re-form into their original shape, they come very compressed and disfigured when they are packaged tightly.
Once I put mine in the tires, there really wasn’t any noticeable lumpiness. They just weren’t as soft as the proline versions, but they work just fine in a heavy rig.
💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I fully agree. Tire traction is the most important thing on a crawler. I spend endless outs with *tire mods* and inserts.
Thanks for the work, great info. Cheers from Germany.
Awesome informative video!!! Definitely picking up the squids next!!! Absolutely loved the YZZR I have so excited to try these Squid!!!
