- This time I take a few minutes to answer some of the questions and respond to comments about the Porsche and the Yakima Racks Roof Top Tent. Believe it or not a Porsche 911 with a Roof Tent makes an ideal car camping vehicle.

I have a 996 turbo that would like to outfit in a similar way. I live in Bishop ca, and I think a Death Valley tour will be my first porsche camping adventure. Thanks for the inspiration!

I consider myself a purist and love this. A GT model might make me uncomfortable, but not a C, CS or Turbo. What makes me uncomfortable is the 992 size. Lol

I think what you do with your Porsches so bad ass taking it out and camping I just recently started seeing stuff like this and I want to do it and get the camping stuff for my Mercedes-Benz C class
I'm thinking to do the same thing (mine is a Cayman though) and I've been torn apart in Cayman groups haha. Question, did you encounter any problems with damage to the car/roof? As that's all I'm getting in terms of feedback right now lol. Appreciate this video is from 4 years ago, so you might be well past the glamping days haha.
I’m looking into this for a cayman 981 and cannot find any roof racks to suit
@@samchick905 I ended up going for a Tentbox light 2.0, with the roof rack from them too. Have you checked them out?
@@petescott thanks for that I will have a look. The cayman 981 don’t have the fixings for the roof rack as far as I can tell. May have to just camp on the floor 😂😂
Can you let us know the rack and tent model you are using? Need to rack my 997 for a cargo box but would love the idea to put on tent!
Sorry for the delay! It's the OEM 996/997 rack and the Yakima Skyrise Medium tent.

This is the Yakima Racks Skyrise Medium and I use the Porsche RTS system with it since the towers need to be different hights its the best route to go!
Why would you take a porsche on the beach rust like anything
Well for one, its fun. Secondly I'm not too worried about rust, a friend at the local fire station lets me use there washer to clean under the car and then I'll give it another good power-washing within an hour or two of getting it back to my place. Cheers!
