- I Rescued A Massive Colony Of Homeless Bees In The Dark
Welcome back friends. In this episode, Yappy ( that's me) gets a call for a massive swarm of bees that took up on a families front porch. This happens when a colony splits in a reproductive action to create a new colony from the old. Nature is so cool.
Although still dangerous to non beekeepers, this colony had set in for the night and was in a pretty good mood. I never know what has happened to a colony before I get to them and sometimes people do things, like trying to spray them, that can make my job difficult. I hope that the world can see through my bee keeping videos that bees can be managed and solutions can be found without having to hurt the bees.
I hope you enjoyed this experience and please don't forget to leave a comment just to say hello and what you thought of the video.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and remember, I am a trained professional.....wink wink. Don't try this at home. or anywhere else for that matter.
Honeybees can always be dangerous and it is not recommended to attempt to remove them with experience with bees or construction knowledge.
I hope you enjoy this little bit of fun. I enjoy your feedback in the comments and thank you for taking the time to check out my channel. Until the next time, enjoy the show.

Yappy Beeman is a professional bee remover performing live honey bee removals in Alabama as "Alabama Bee Rescue" and relocates them to apiaries away from residential areas so they can rebuild and thrive as a honey bee colony producing honey. Yappy is an Alabama Beekeepers association member that has performed over 1000 live bee removals. Yappy with the help of his great friends Jpthebeeman, 628 Dirtrooster bees, Jeff Horchoff and many others, I have learned many skills to remove bee swarms and honey bee colonies safely for the bees and home owners alike.

Here is a little bee educational material for ya.
Africanized honey bees (known colloquially as "killer bees") are hybrids between European stock and the East African lowland subspecies A. m. scutellata; they are often more aggressive than European honey bees and do not create as much of a honey surplus, but are more resistant to disease and are better foragers.[23] Accidentally released from quarantine in Brazil, they have spread to North America and constitute a pest in some regions. However, these strains do not overwinter well, so they are not often found in the colder, more northern parts of North America. The original breeding experiment for which the East African lowland honey bees were brought to Brazil in the first place has continued (though not as originally intended). Novel hybrid strains of domestic and re-domesticated Africanized honey bees combine high resilience to tropical conditions and good yields. They are popular among beekeepers in Brazil.
Honey bees appear to have their center of origin in South and Southeast Asia (including the Philippines), as all the extant species except Apis mellifera are native to that region. Notably, living representatives of the earliest lineages to diverge (Apis florea and Apis andreniformis) have their center of origin there.[7]
The first Apis bees appear in the fossil record at the Eocene-Oligocene boundary (34 mya), in European deposits. The origin of these prehistoric honey bees does not necessarily indicate Europe as the place of origin of the genus, only that the bees were present in Europe. Few fossil deposits are known from South Asia, the suspected region of honey bee origin, and fewer still have been thoroughly studied.
No Apis species existed in the New World during human times before the introduction of A. mellifera by Europeans. Only one fossil species is documented from the New World, Apis nearctica, known from a single 14 million-year-old specimen from Nevada.[8] - Навчання та стиль
Who else caught the "buzz" at 1:25 wearing earphones.......lol.
I had headphones on but the buzz would have to be an explosion for me to hear it and I'm with you in seing that special march; nothing like it. Another Yappified hive saved from destruction and other stuff. BLESSINGS, Bub!

@@lewiemcneely9143 thank you friend. My tech has upgraded in many ways and it amazes me how some things record. I will try for a few good booms for you next time....wink wink.

Some people are great at their profession. Yappy was born for his.
Nicely done 👍 One hand gathering bees while filming with the other. Bravo 👏 Cheers 🥂
Yappy is the best at finding the Queen. He does it consistently and amazingly fast.
Always fun with you Yappy. I teased 628 with Jeff. I’m 6’2” and 260#. I miss my Burmese co-driver. He could stoop under the trailer. I must get on all fours. I called Jeff a pocket sized assistant. We admire the friendship you all have and your humor. Thanks, as all ways.
What a set of peepers on this gent being able to spot the queen in that swarm AT NIGHT
One-handed queen finding at night while holding the flashlight & video! EXTRA POINTS! Awesome swarm catch!
And my mom always said I couldn't walk and chew gum at the same time.......bwahahahaha. fooled her didn't I.
My cousin is a bee keeper and he keeps a hive at my home. Your videos are so cool!
Good job. Filming in the dark is always tough.
The hardest part was holding the flash light and still being understood as I talked...... I may try being a ventriloquist on that TV show next.....
One handed? You're a professional.
I think that's the first time I've seen bees being caught at night.
Well done Happy. 🙂👍
Gotta keep it hop'n. Wink wink.
In South Africa, we generally only do removals at night due to the aggressive nature of our African bees. It is more difficult but works out safer for everyone.
Love how caring you are. Good luck bees! Make it through the winter.
watching you working with bee makes me feel peaceful.
God has definitely gifted you with your ability to understand bees and how you handle them. I love watching you
Yes he has and I give full credit for it. Thanks for jumping in.
Way to go Yappy, your the best, even in the dark. 😊
Happy finding the queen !!! YaaaHooo
THANKS. This was a fun one for sure.
You the Bee-man, Yappy! I can't believe you found the queen so fast in the dark!! 💥🐝❤
She was a pretty good sized one. Made it a little easier than most.
Yappy, just wonderful, thank you.
I am majorly impressed by your queen spotting skills. I wasn't sure all those bees would fit in that box
What a fearless man I have a phobia of bees wasps and harnets but your fearless
Nice swarm Yappy!!!! Thanks!
Thank you. I'm just glad they weren't pissy.
@@YappyBeeman For sure!!!
Great Queen catch there Yappy!
It is obvious: this man cares for bees!
Ah Yappy - I love the way you do that! "Where's your Mama?" LOL!!
Hello darlin' - ha! Love it. After watching a dozen of these videos, I ordered a beehive.
Now that's awesome......you will enjoy the hobby but not the cost. But it's "not about the money" right.
Yappy, you are lucky to get to do your removals during the day, I could only wish for that. In South Africa the nature of our bees only allows us to work at night, the Apis Millefera Scutellata are known to be aggressive and therefore most removals are done with red lights and after dark to avoid any serious accidents.
Yappy!! Here’s all the lovin you were wanting for doing this at night one handed ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️LOL. Really, great video glad your posting more often :). Thanks for sharing and letting me tag along :)
And thank you for all the love and checking it out. Always a pleasure to share good fun.
Thank you for doing what you do!
I'm aways amazed and entertained after watching your vids.
How long did it take you in your bee catching career to be able to zero in with a "hawk-eye" on a queen(s) in a nest of that size, IN THE DARK!?
And while we're here, if you haven't already, I'd like to suggest a narration over your next vid (or like a "best, or BIGGEST of" compilation) of how you got into this and your best and worst experiences as you honed your impressive skills.
Thanks for the vid!
i love the sound of the bees, thank you for sharing
That was pretty cool. I can't imagine how hard it would be to do all of those things at once (video, hold flashlight, find queen...) especially in the dark!! I always look forward to your videos. Thanks for sharing with all of us!
It was a bit difficult but the bees and I made it through and both doing well.
I can tell I’m gonna be binging this channel now that I just found it. Super cool dude.
Yappy the night creeper. Good job.
That made me feel a little weird. But that about sums me up anyhow.
Always gonna click like on Yappy's videos! 🐝
Always going to appreciate it myself when you do. Thank you.
Cool video Yappy! Enjoy watching your videos! God bless
It amazes me how you can pick the queen out so easily.
Yappy du är bäst som vanligt ;) Varma Höst hälsningar från mellersta Sweden.
Hello back from the USA.....
Love watching them March in. It’s so impressive….oh so is filming them with one hand whilst gathering them up with the other. 😂
Gotta have the skillz to pay the bills these days.
Why is this guy so wholesome!!!!!
I heard the buzz! I was hoping you'd go back the next morning and at least show us a small brief clip of the bees all being in the box. I love bees! 🐝
I actually didn't go back until the next evening. That way I didn't leave any behind and didn't have a camera with me or I would have. It would have been a great add to the video for sure.
Well done !
That was cool but I thought they were in the bed at dark?! lol They were trying, now they have a home the Queen can be proud of. Have a great day
My understanding is they don't actually sleep in the sense of but they don't fly at night. They just do house duties.
Love it Yappy. Your videos are always fun.
couldn’t go to school cause i was sick today and this video made me feel better
I hope it lasts and they rest of your day stays better.
@@YappyBeeman aw thank you so much
Always heard not to handle bees with white light. But neat to realize that swarming bees have more tolerance to a white light, otherwise should be red filter light. But you warned that even though they where calm, you warn that possible stings was highly likely.
I have found that the LED lights don't mess with them as much. They still have a few that go to it but not like with the old style bulbs.
Great rescue!
So impressive! ♥️🐝
yappy the bee whisperer great video. i saw the video you on the boat at first i thought you had a removal on the boat ha ha
That would have been awesome. Especially with the bee removal brain trust we had gathered.
I bet this one was fun. Good stuff Yappy.
They always are. Even the ones I get stung 50 times. I'm weird that way.
@@YappyBeeman Just that way? Lol
You are just too cool ! No wonder the bee's love you ! 😊💫
Thank you. I swear they are not paid actors either

Great job 😊🐝
Excellent Job!
great action video and a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours yappy...
Thank you Larry. And the same to you and yours.
Well you could use a mouthpiece to hold the camera but then you can’t comment. So probably a headlamp setup would maybe work Mo betta . Great entertainment hearing a bee buzzin in my ear while Yappy s doin his thang!
Wow! Awesome footage!
Great job 👏
thank you for the amazing content mr bee man.
It's my pleasure.
I will miss a meal to watch a Happy Yappy video! Yappy is happy when catching bees! Yappy, can you teach me how to record some bee action catching a colony with the camera in one hand since that’s all I have available? That’s why I don’t make videos, I can’t handle the camera and do everything thing else all with one hand, you know where my other hand is…😮
It was that alligator in Happy Gilmore wasn't it......we need to make wallets outta that thing.
@@YappyBeeman no I still have it glued to my walking cane… Thanks to a well known Orthopedic Surgeon that did way more harm to my leg than good!!! Complications….
Wish it had been longer!!!
Pretty cool as always
good job Yappy like your videos
wonderful , all life find a way

You are AMAZING ❤❤❤❤
Love all your videos and we get some comedy too
I aim to please ......glad you enjoyed it.
You are the man!
Yaaaaaaap another great video!!!
Thank you very much.
So awesome
Great job. Night time swarm catching can be bad when they crawl around everywhere and run up your pants legs. Not me a friend told me. LoL 👍❤️🐝
I've had that happen. I will sometimes work bees at night and ya gotta watch them for sure.
Wear boots and duct tape a seal around the top.
It beats getting your socks stapled to your ankles, never mind if they crawl up higher.
But bees in a swarm tend not to sting, as they don't have anything to protect, and they only usually sting to protect themselves or their colony. If you can avoid trapping and pinching them, you are generally pretty safe.
Now a cut-out is whole nuther matter! You are busting up their home, and they ain't gonna like it much.
@@phillee2814 oh yeah I have caught swarms for several years and really enjoy it but like you say cutouts are murder sometimes.
Job well done
Sweet
I think we all need you to watch and review the Bee movie for accuracy.
It was all a lie...it hurts to actually watch it.
