Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I lived in Guatemala (and much of centro-America) for 6 years recently, also teaching English as well as learning Spanish. And then entering into (and sadly failing to develop too well) an intimate relationship with my lovely Colombian girlfriend.. despite my SPOKEN language ability. I also travelled widely (and learned basic Thai) in Thailand and SE Asia in the 1990s, so I think I have some experience (of much more what DOESN'T work hahaha), and of course discovered a passion for Language learning when I did my TEFLA course in UK before emigrating to NZ....
